Connections advised Stewards on 4 January that DUCHESS OF KENT has had its hocks treated since last racing.

Race 12 - CARDRONA DISTILLERY MOBILE PACE
Junior driver S Hill, assisted by B Williamson, admitted a charge that he drove carelessly when shifting ground outwards leaving the final bend dictating CRACKER OPIE wider on the track which contacted the sulky wheel of TUA LIPA and broke in consequence. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a suspension of Mr Hill's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 6 January up to and including 11 January 2026 (3 days).

Connections reported to Stewards on 4 January that following this race FRANCO SINATRA had been treated for mild colic with a follow up Veterinary examination the next day confirming the gelding had recovered well.

Race 1   REDPATHS / PFK ALEXANDRA AMATEUR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
NYLA - lay outwards in the run home having to be corrected by driver C Wigg. Mrs Wigg reported she was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
WATERHOLES ROAD - raced in restricted room as the start was effected when NYLA lay outwards slightly and SEARING LIGHT shifted inwards marginally. Shifted outwards and contacted the outside sulky wheel of SEARING LIGHT near the 550m resulting in the tyre puncturing and WATERHOLES ROAD breaking in consequence losing all chance. Driver J Buckland-Stevens admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a suspension of Mrs Buckland-Stevens' amateur driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today, 4 January up to and including 14 February 2026 (3 days).
SEARING LIGHT - held up in the early stages of the run home.
Race 2   MARK REID DRILLING / LINDISFARNE FARMS LTD TROT
MISS GRACIE - broke entering the first bend losing ground. Again broke near the 1500m losing all chance. A final warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
MC SQUARED - broke at the start losing ground.
MODE - trotted roughly when weakening rounding the final bend hampering a trailing runner.
LA DAMA - broke entering the first bend losing ground. Authorisation of this runner's 4th placing was withheld until Stewards had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
OUR SUPERFUND - hampered and broke rounding the final bend losing all chance. Stewards questioned driver E Barron regarding the reason she did not shift wider on the track once MODE, which she was following, had commenced to weaken rounding the final bend. Miss Barron explained that despite her efforts she was unable to shift out due to the gelding hanging inwards and trotting roughly, adding that OUR SUPERFUND had trotted roughly on several occasions during the running. Stewards noted the comments.

Race 3   COMBINED SPONSORS MOBILE PACE
WATTLEBANK WILL - raced wide early.
BONNY MIKI - when questioned regarding the performance driver J Morrison advised that despite the gelding having to work hard in the early stages he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation.
SHERGAR - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver M Williamson. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 4   EVENING COVE HANDICAP TROT
KAWHI - re-handicapped to barrier 2 off 20m after winning at the Central Otago meeting.
VERTIGO - weakened final bend.
JULIE JACCKA - weakened final bend.

JENNY GUMP - driver S Walkinshaw was issued with a warning after using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion and in a continuous manner in the run home.
SUPERFAST - hung outwards and broke rounding the final bend losing all chance.
ROBYNS HUSTLER - broke just prior to release losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
DIDJASHOUTTHEBAR - lay inwards passing the 1400m contacting and dislodging a track marker. Again lay inwards in the early stages of the run home.
Race 6   RITCHIE McDONALD & VAL WHYTE MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
PHISHING - driver T Robertson was issued with a warning after using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
MISTER - broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Broke again passing the 1400m losing all chance.
GARONNE - began awkwardly. Broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Trotted roughly near the 1600m losing ground. Broke briefly near the 600m again losing ground. Again broke rounding the final bend hampering trailing runners losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
JOSEPHINE - broke at the start and shifted outwards checking outside runners losing all chance. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
KAYLEEBELLE - fractious and reared in the pre-race formation and fell to the track resulting in a delay. Underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Sent to the Unruly by Starter B Ward where the mare will remain for future standing starts. Broke near the 600m and attempted to pace hampering a trailing runner.
ARDEN SOLITAIRE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 600m.
CARMEN LUCIA - broke at the start losing ground. Authorisation of this runner's 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
ERAGON - checked by a breaking runner at the start. Trotted roughly near the 1300m having to be steadied. Awkwardly placed to the inside of runners near the 1000m having to be steadied. Driver G McLay admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly at this stage of the race when attempting a run which had not been fully established. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a suspension of Mr McLay's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 6 January up to and including 25 January 2026 (3 days).
SHARMA TROUBLE - trotted roughly and lay outwards for a distance passing the 1100m. Shifted outwards near the 950m when a runner improved to its inside. Weakened from the 800m.
KYLE LOCH - broke near the 900m losing ground.
GEENA'S GIFT - raced wide from the 1000m when a runner improved to its inside. Broke leaving the final bend losing all chance.
GASHERBRUM - checked by a breaking runner at the start. Raced wide from the 1000m. Hung outwards over the concluding stages.
Race 7   HAY KEA WAI / TEVIOT HANDYMAN FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
There was a slight delay to the start of this race due to the oncourse St John Ambulance personnel being required to attend to a member of the public.
OHOKA DIVA - paced roughly first bend. Weakened from the 800m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
COPACOBANA - over-raced when being restrained to take cover in the early stages. Weakened rounding the final bend.
KAIRAKI VEGAS - weakened rounding the final bend.
STAR BURST - over-raced and broke in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
Race 8   MACCA LODGE/NEW WORLD ALEXANDRA FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared when CLOSE shifted outwards in the score up checking an outside runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Driver B Orange elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart.
SPIRIT OF ATLANTA - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1700m. Weakened final bend.
EATMYDUST - over-raced and hung outwards in the middle stages. Weakened final bend.
SWEET TARTAN - hung outwards and broke near the 1700m hampering a trailing runner losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Weakened from the 600m. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Morrison advised he was disappointed and could offer no explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 9   BEARING REPLACEMENTS / SGT DAN STOCKFOODS MOBILE PACE
HEAVEN - paced roughly late in the score up however was in position at the start. Held up final bend.
CRACKLE N CRUNCH - hung outwards near the 1700m hampering and checking outside runners. Held up rounding the final bend and broke when awkwardly placed to the back of JACCKA EVAN, checking the trailing QUINN which also broke. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
RAKNRUIN - paced roughly rounding the final bend. Driver W House reported he did not release the hopple shorteners due to the mare pacing roughly during the running.
BEAUDIENE QUICK STEP - raced wide early.
MR PRESIDENT - broke when racing to the outside of CRACKLE N CRUNCH and inside of JACCKA EVAN near the 1700m losing ground. Stewards firstly reviewed and were satisfied that driver G Thornley (CRACKLE N CRUNCH) had commenced to shift ground outwards prior to MR PRESIDENT reaching her sulky wheel, accordingly no further action was required. Stewards then questioned drivers M Hill (MR PRESIDENT) and D Anderson (JACCKA EVAN) assisted by N Williamson and G Thornley assisted by S Ottley in relation to the incident where MR PRESIDENT broke near the 1700m. After speaking with all drivers it was established that after initially shifting outwards CRACKLE N CRUNCH had then hung outwards despite Miss Thornley's attempt to shift the gelding inwards. Stewards were satisfied no driver was found to be a fault and took the matter no further.
JACCKA EVAN - raced wide early. Hampered near the 1700m. Paced roughly rounding the final bend.
CLONAKILTY - raced wide from the 800m.
QUINN - checked and broke rounding the final bend.
Race 10   PETERS GENETICS ROXBURGH CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
CAPTAIN STARLIGHT - weakened final bend.
ULTIMATE CULLECT - over-raced middle stages.
DECEPTIVE LEE - forced to race wide from the 800m. Driver G Thornley reported that she sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
AMARETTO FRANCO - broke at the start losing ground.
ALWAYS DREAMING - lay inwards over the concluding stages.
AMASS - tangled away.
AMERICAN ME - Stewards issued driver S O'Reilly with a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging that she drove carelessly near the 600m when contacting the sulky wheel of DECEPTIVE LEE resulting in the tyre puncturing. The matter was adjourned by the Adjudicative Committee to be heard at the Wyndham Racing Club meeting at Cromwell on 6 January.
Race 11   JESCO HYDRAULICS / REMARKABLES ORCHARD TROT
BRIANNA - fractious prior to the start and refused to come into line without the assistance of Starting personnel. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Broke briefly racing into the first bend then over-raced for a distance. Trotted roughly near the 900m.
WANNA PLAY A GAME - broke at the start losing all chance.
ANDY HALL - trotted roughly over the early stages.
MOR MOONLIGHT - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 8.22am.
TILLABERI - broke near the 750m losing all chance.
Race 12   HAWKESWOOD MINING / CAJ APPLES MOBILE PACE
SEASIDE CROFT - connections advised the horse has been gelded since last racing.
FRANCO TIM - shifted wider on the track near the 1200m. Lay outwards when weakening near the 600m simultaneously to RYLAN CHARLIE shifting ground outwards contacting the sulky wheel of that runner. Stewards were satisfied no driver was at fault and took the matter no further. Driver G Thornley reported a sulky tyre had deflated during the running.
SWEET WILLOW - raced wider on the track near the 1200m when FRANCO TIM shifted out from the running line. Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule however after viewing replays it was established that driver G Thornley (FRANCO TIM) had commenced her outwards movement prior to SWEET WILLOW reaching her sulky wheel, accordingly no further action was required.
