Driver R Alfeld (SANS REPOS) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Alfeld's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 7 January up to and including 25 January 2026 (4 days).

GIMME THREE STEPS - broke shortly after the start and refused to settle losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
BIRSTALL BABE - trotted roughly in the run home.
SENIOR CONSTABLE LIZ - broke shortly after the start hampering a trailing runner losing considerable ground. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 800m. Weakened final bend.
HOOFN IT - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Weakened from the 800m hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.

MIDNIGHT SOPHIA - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
NINTH WAVE ARDEN - raced wide early. Hung inwards throughout the run home having to be corrected on several occasions.
STUMPY BLACKLER - raced wide early.
AMERICAN TOS - raced wide early. Hung inwards and paced roughly rounding the final bend and in the run home.
SKY NEWS - over-raced early stages.
MYNAMEISJACK - Stewards questioned driver G Smith regarding the tactics he adopted rounding the first bend when electing to restrain his runner which allowed STUMPY BLACKLER to shift inwards ahead of him. Mr Smith advised that the gelding had been pacing roughly and was of the opinion TWICE THE CHARM would improve to the lead which would have left him to race without cover so felt his best option was to restrain and obtain the one one position. Stewards noted his comments.
UNICO TESSA - the blinds were removed prior to the start after warming up unfavourably. Over-raced middle stages. Held up until late in the run home.
Race 4   JACK BEHRNS MEMORIAL TROT
D J'S GAMBLE - broke rounding the first bend losing ground.
INQUIZITIVE MAN - trotted roughly passing the 1500m losing ground. Weakened final bend.
MADAM PATSY - weakened final bend.
SCHOEMAKER - broke after 100m losing considerable ground. Trotted roughly at various stages throughout.
MEANDAD - hung inwards in the run home having to be corrected on several occasions.
LOVEYOU TO DA SKYE - trainer G Smith advised Stewards the gelding has been treated for allergies since last racing. Trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be fully driven out.
RIDGE - the near hind bandage came adrift during the running. Stewards took no further action due to the track conditions and the bandage had been sufficiently taped.
Race 5   IDEAL EVENTS 'FOR YOUR NEXT EVENT' MOBILE PACE
SHEWONMEOVER - broke rounding the final bend losing ground. Driver R Houghton was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
ONE OF THESE NIGHTS - weakened final bend.
CARRERA VAMOS - co-trainers B & T White were issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the mare to race without the notified pacifier. Raced wide early.
SPIRIT OF TUPELO - trainer R Todd was issued a warning for presenting the filly to race with blinds which had not been notified.
CEE WHATA MICKEE - paced roughly at the start. Raced wide early.
BLAZE CRAZE - raced wide early. Lay inwards and paced roughly at various stages.

KUSHITE WARRIOR - driver T Duley reported one hopple shortener failed to activate due to the cord becoming entangled.
SHOWCASE - weakened final bend.
MAJOR HAPPY - out of position at the start. Driver K Newman was issued a warning. Raced wide from the 600m.
MOLLY MAEVE ESTELLE - raced wide early. Weakened leaving the final bend.
BETTOR OFF - hampered by an inside runner which hung outwards early in the run home.
NOTHING BUT YOU - raced wide early and middle stages. Hung outwards early in the run home and shifted up the track hampering an outside runner. Driver D Dolan was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home.
REMISSION - raced wide early. Weakened final bend.
CANDY CANE - raced greenly when being shifted wider on the track near the 550m. Paced roughly in the run home.

AMICI - broke briefly shortly after the start. Briefly hampered by a slight easing of the pace rounding the first bend. Weakened final bend.
SUMMER ROSE - briefly hampered by a slight easing of the pace rounding the first bend. Hampered when IRISH MIKI paced roughly rounding the final bend.
SAM SNEAD - slow to begin. Raced wide from the 1100m. Weakened final bend.
Race 8   SUPPORT SUMMER AT THE TROTS MOBILE PACE
HUGO - held up final bend.
JOSE QUIVERA - weakened final bend.
DON'T TELL JENNY - raced wide early. Weakened leaving the final bend.
DAWN TO DARK - broke racing into the first bend when to the outside of ZARLINI checking trailing runners losing ground. Stewards questioned drivers B Hope (ZARLINI) and S Ottley (DAWN TO DARK) regarding this incident where it was established that both runners had shifted ground simultaneously and jostled for a short distance in an attempt to obtain a position in the running line behind HUGO. After viewing the replays and considering both drivers explanation, Stewards were satisfied no one horse or driver was at fault and accordingly took the matter no further. Raced wide with cover from the 1000m.
CLASSIE LINC - raced wide early. Briefly hampered by a slight easing of the pace near the 1300m. Over-raced middle stages. Raced wide from the 1150m.
MANJIMUP - out of position at the start. Driver D Dolan was issued a warning. Checked racing into the first bend losing ground. Held up final bend.
WARRIOR CHIEF - out of position at the start. Driver S Hill was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice. Checked racing into the first bend losing ground. Raced wide from the 1000m.
PERAKI SEELSTER - trainer R Hayter advised Stewards the gelding has had its hocks treated since last racing. Checked racing into the first bend losing ground. Briefly hampered by a slight easing of the pace near the 1300m. Raced wide from the 1250m.
QUICKER THAN QUICK - checked racing into the first bend losing ground. Briefly hampered by a slight easing of the pace near the 1300m. Raced wide without cover from the 1250m. Weakened final bend.
MYSTERY BEACH - checked racing into the first bend losing ground.
Race 9   BARNSY'S ALL TRADE SERVICES PACE
ENYA FRANCO - broke at the start losing ground. Lost contact with the body of the field passing the 1900m and trailed the field losing all chance. When questioned regarding the performance driver W House advised the mare failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
GEM N EM - weakened leaving the final bend.
STORMY VISTA - raced greenly for a distance through the middle stages when leading.
NOT OVER - raced keenly and became awkwardly placed to the inside of STORMY VISTA for a short distance near the 1200m when driver R Close was adjusting his goggles.
SANS REPOS - weakened final bend.
UKRAINE - connections advised the horse has been gelded since last racing. Began awkwardly.
OKIWI BAY - began awkwardly. Weakened final bend.
HE'S A BAY - weakened early in the run home.
Race 10   THANK YOU, NORTH CANTERBURY TROTTING CLUB HCP TROT
HOOF IT HAGRID - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts. Held up by a weakening runner final bend. Again held up early in the run home. Stewards lodged a protest against 2nd placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 150m in the early stages. After viewing the replays connections did not contest the protest and HOOF IT HAGRID was disqualified by Stewards.
NATIVES INFERNO - broke in the early stages losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Weakened from the 500m.
KOWHAI SUMMIT - broke at the start losing all chance.
ROYAL YANKEE - trotted roughly through the middle stages. Weakened from the 600m hampering a trailing runner. Driver A Beecroft was issued a warning for using his whip on a runner out of contention.
SWIFT DREAM - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 600m. Weakened leaving the final bend.

RAKERO MAXIMUS - paced roughly rounding the first bend. Raced wide early and middle stages. Broke passing the 1250m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
WOODLEA ROCKS - out of position at the candy pole despite the efforts of driver J Dunn. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Raced wide early and middle stages. Weakened leaving the final bend.
STEPHS BOY - raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages. Held up rounding the final bend and in the early and middle stages of the run home.
