Race 1   PENDENE FARM TROT
GIMME THREE STEPS - trainer B Ward was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race without the notified blinds. Trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be fully driven out by driver B Orange.
LAUZELLE - broke at the start checking an outside runner losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide early and middle stages. Broke briefly passing the 600m. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
HADLEYMAE - broke at the start before being checked by an inside runner losing considerable ground.
TOMMY - raced wide from the 800m. Broke near the 200m losing all chance.
KAYLEEBELLE - raced wide early. Again raced wide from the 900m. Broke near the 450m losing all chance.
WHICH WAY - raced wide middle stages.
A QUIET GIRL - broke after 100m losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
CALMBEFORETHESTORM - trainer T McMillan was issued a warning for presenting the mare to race without the notified pacifier. Raced wide early. Broke near the 400m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
IMPERIAL KNIGHT - broke near the 350m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 2   MATT SMITH CONSTRUCTION MOBILE PACE
ONE OF THESE NIGHTS - crowded by an outside runner shortly after the start having to be restrained. Hampered when an inside runner shifted outwards near the 300m.
ICY STARS - raced wide until being restrained to the rear of the field near the 900m.
EASY ART - shifted inwards shortly after the start crowding an inside runner. Driver R Holmes was issued a warning.
DELIGHTINGOLD - raced wide early. Shifted outwards passing the 300m hampering a trailing runner. Driver C Thornley advised the filly had been hanging outwards and he would be recommending gear changes. Notwithstanding this Mr Thornley was advised to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in future.
BRITE LEDGER - raced wide early.
TUPPENCE - raced wide early.
PERAKI LAD - raced greenly and shifted up the track when racing wide in the early stages.
BETTOR N JOY - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
MIDSUMMER DREAMING - weakened final bend. Driver S Thornley advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord breaking.
SADIE - broke passing the 1000m losing ground.
Race 3   BETAVET PACE
POLLY GREY - broke briefly and shifted outwards at the start hampering an outside runner.
CEE WHATABET - hampered by an inside runner at the start.
LAY ON MACDUFF - held up early in the run home.
MIKI BROWN - raced wide early. Trainer/driver K Butt advised she had difficulty steering the gelding and would be considering making gear changes.
THE TOWN OF LIGHT - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
PACIFIC THUNDER - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
SUMMER ROSE - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
Race 4   BOAG CONTRACTING MOBILE PACE
RED WINE KISSES - held up early in the run home.
MOOSE MOROWSKI - held up early in the run home.
ROCK FERN - lay outwards in the run home despite the efforts of driver B Orange.
KASARANI - trainer D Reardon was issued a warning for presenting the mare to race without the notified anti choke device.
Following this race the track was upgraded to Good.
Race 5   TOWNSEND SEEDS TROT
VAL THORENS - broke near the 450m hampering trailing runners losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on two occasions prior to resuming.
NOAH MAGNIFIC - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Driver S O'Reilly advised she was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
MOONLIGHT ANGEL - hampered by a breaking runner near the 450m.
SOLEMN SON - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
BAFFLED - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
GRANNY ROSE - broke rounding the first bend losing ground. Broke again near the 1100m losing all chance.
SUPERFAST GORSEY - broke near the 600m losing ground.
GINAS MAJESTY - hampered by a breaking runner near the 450m.
KISS ME KATE - cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
Race 6   AKAROA FISH N CHIPS MOBILE PACE
HARRY'S GOLD - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Trainer/driver R Cameron advised the gelding failed to handle the grass track today.
FLYING HOLME - paced roughly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
PICKETTYWITCH - raced wide early.
ASHES OF JOY - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
BONNY MIKI - locked wheels with OLYMPIAN which hung inwards in the run home.
MATILDA TOO - trainer M Jones was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the filly to race with removable deafeners which had not been notified.
OLYMPIAN - hung inwards in the run home and locked wheels with BONNY MIKI.
Race 7   THE SALTY PIG EATERY & BAR MOBILE PACE
TOPAZ - raced wide early.
DESTINY'S DREAM - held up late in the run home.
TERRORMYLOVE - raced wide early.
BUCKSKIN - held up early and middle stages of the run home. The rear hopple carrier strap came adrift rounding the first bend. This gear was inspected and found to have been sufficiently taped with trainer R Davis deemed not to be at fault.
JOSE QUIVERA - held up late in the run home.
Race 8   EVOLUTION VETS MOBILE PACE
LET IT RIP - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S Thornley. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced early stages. Mr Thornley reported the gelding had been making abnormal breathing noises during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
SUSPICIOUS CAPTAIN - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
SCHEFFLER - late scratching at 3.10pm on Veterinary advice.
Race 9   HEKEAO FEEDS MOBILE PACE
CHANCE ON ME - weakened over the concluding stages.
BETTERWITHBLING - a post-race veterinary examination at the request of trainer J Wederell revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
FERNZ GOLDY - weakened from the 500m. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver D Reardon advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
HEAVEN - broke in the score up and was out of position at the candy pole. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
ZIA BROMAC - late scratching at 11.01am on Veterinary advice.
FLYAWAY - over-raced middle stages.
SWEET GLORY - weakened in the run home.
Race 10   COUNTRY FEASTS PACE
ROCKCENT - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Weakened from the 400m.
KUSHITE WARRIOR - broke at the start losing ground. Held up early and middle stages of the run home. Crowded by an inside runner near the 150m and contacted that runner's sulky wheel. After questioning drivers G Smith (KUSHITE WARRIOR) and B Orange (BLACKJACK) it was established that KUSHITE WARRIOR had over-raced when clear running briefly presented, simultaneous to BLACKJACK laying outwards with no one horse or driver deemed to be at fault.
BLACKJACK - held up early and middle stages of the run home. Lay outwards passing the 150m despite the efforts of driver B Orange placing an outside runner in restricted room.
ULTIMATE COUNSEL - held up throughout the run home.
FESTUS HAGGEN - held up throughout the run home. Driver L O'Reilly advised he did not activate the removable deafeners or sliding blinds in consequence.
GEORGIE ZUKOV - broke at the start losing ground.
Race 11   OSCAR BONAVENA STANDING AT STUD TROT
D J'S GAMBLE - stood on the mark checking a trailing runner losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
INQUIZITIVE MAN - broke near the 2100m losing all chance.
CALL DUDLEY - broke at the start losing all chance.
MEANDAD - broke at the start losing ground. Over-raced middle stages.
AMISTOZO - broke at the start losing ground.
KINGAROY - checked at the start losing all chance.
