Race Comments
| Race 1 PASCOES THE JEWELLERS MOBILE PACE | |
|---|---|
| MELODY BANNER - when questioned regarding the performance driver J Dickie could offer no explanation for what he considered to be a disappointing performance. | |
| CLAUDE - paced roughly shortly after the start. Again paced roughly near the 450m. | |
| ALWAYS FLYIN - hung inwards and contacted track markers near the 1250m. | |
| INVISIBLE - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear. | |
| Race 2 BRECKON FARMS HANDICAP TROT | |
|---|---|
| The start was delayed briefly with the field turned out of line when Starter F Phelan was not satisfied with the manner in which runners addressed the barriers. | |
| HAPPY HILL - trotted roughly near the 150m having to be steadied for a distance and hung outwards. | |
| MAJESTIC CRACKER - pre-race warmed. Broke shortly after the start but soon settled. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Broke near the 750m losing its chance. A warning was also placed on this runner's racing manners. | |
| PARAMOUNT SPUR - trainer J Dickie was issued a warning for the late notification that this runner would be racing without the pacifier. Broke shortly after the start losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming. Trainer J Dickie advised that the gelding will be turned out for a spell. | |
| ILLICIT LOVE - when questioned regarding the performance driver C Hackett advised that after being slow in the early stages the gelding had got too far back off its handicap and the race wasn't run to suit thereafter. Miss Hackett further advised that she was not overly disappointed with the performance. | |
| SANS AU REVOIR - when questioned regarding the performance driver H Orange could offer no tangible reason apart from the mare had hung inwards on the bends. | |
| Race 3 HYDROFLOW MOBILE PACE | |
|---|---|
| GLORIA STEINEM - became awkwardly placed close to the back of MISS CHEROKEE near the 650m having to be steadied. When questioned regarding this and also the performance trainer/driver T Herlihy advised that the blinds had required attention by an attendant before the start but had then shifted during the running resulting in the filly racing greenly on several occasions proving difficult to steer. | |
| SUPERSCRIPT - weakened from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the mare's performance. | |
| I'M TRUE ENOUGH - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear. | |
| ARRIGO - over-raced shortly after the start. | |
| Race 4 NZ STAFF MOBILE PACE | |
|---|---|
| SUNSET STRIP - slow to leave the pre-race formation but was in position at the start. Lay outwards near the 150m hampering an outside runner. Again lay outwards near the 50m and was awkwardly placed close to the sulky of BEETASTIC having to be restrained. Crowded late in the run home by an inside runner. | |
| WALTZING WITH MIKI - over-raced middle stages. | |
| BEETASTIC - over-raced for a distance passing the 1100m and was then hampered when there was a slight easing of the pace near the 900m. Hampered near the 150m by an inside runner. Lay inwards short of the winning post. | |
| SOCIAL DISTANCING - over-raced for a distance passing the 1100m and was then hampered when there was a slight easing of the pace near the 900m and continued to over-race. | |
| CYCLONE REBEL - held up final bend and throughout the run home. When questioned regarding his tactics during the middle stages Driver M White advised that after having worked hard to secure the lead near the 1400m he felt it was his best option to take a trail on the improving BARBAROSSA near the 1000m rather than risk receiving more pressure as he expected that runner to maintain the lead as it had performed well when driven aggressively prior. Mr White further stated that CYCLONE REBEL was racing with a notified gear change of the removal of blinds after having trialled earlier in the week but did not feel as sharp when warming up and during tonight's event in what was the gelding's first race in a month. After considering Mr White's explanation Stewards were satisfied his decision to surrender the lead was not unreasonable given the circumstances and took the matter no further. | |
| ALWAYS B MISTY - pre-race warmed. Shifted inwards near the 100m forcing WALTZING WITH MIKI into the passing lane having to be corrected. | |
| BARBAROSSA - held up late in the run home having to be steadied and raced inside the final track marker. When questioned regarding his tactics near the 900m driver D Butcher advised that he was surprised that the front was available and he then elected to take a trail believing this was his best to option to finish the race off. Mr Butcher further advised that once he was positioned in the trail the gelding then was placed under pressure rounding the final bend. Stewards noted Mr Butcher's comments. | |
| Race 5 TAB QUEEN OF DIAMONDS FILLIES & MARES FFA MOBILE TROT | |
|---|---|
| ONE MORE MOMENT - broke early in the score up but was in position at the start. | |

| WALKINONSUNSHINE - trainer T Bagrie was charged a $25 colour fee. | |
| HIDDEN TALENT - raced wide final bend. | |
| COURMAYEUR - hampered late in the score up. Stewards were satisfied that the mare's chances had not been materially affected. Cleared from the unruly for future mobiles. | |
| LOTERIA - pre-race warmed. Raced wide from the 1200m. Weakened near the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. | |
| Race 6 WOODLANDS STUD QUEEN OF HEARTS FILLIES & MARES FFA MOB PACE | |
|---|---|
| ARAFURA - checked when unable to avoid a fallen driver inside the 50m and broke as a result losing ground before finishing in 4th place and was lapped on by the 5th placed DEBBIE LINCOLN. Given that this runner had broken as a result of interference Stewards exercised their discretion under Rule 870(5) with not proceeding with a protest. | |
| CAPTAINS MISTRESS - raced greenly near the 1650m when attempting to lead. Driver N Williamson fell from the sulky passing the 50m due to the sulky seat coming adrift after the support struts broke. CAPTAINS MISTRESS was adjudged not to be a placegetter in accordance with Rule 873(3). Mr Williamson was attended to by St John personnel and transported to hospital via ambulance for further observation. The filly escaped for a short distance before being caught by Driver S Ottley and was not injured as a result of the incident. | |
