Race 1   MANAWATU ITM MOBILE PACE
DREAM ON LOU - Driver K Coppins reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre early in the run home.
THE NIGHT FOX - over-raced middle stages when outside the leader.
PRINCESS LISA - jumped a shadow entering the first turn but settled immediately, then raced wide before being restrained to the rear.
JETASI - contacted and punctured the sulky tyre of DREAM ON LOU early in the run home. Driver A Poutama admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250. Mr Poutama was also warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
BENSON DUDE - weakened in the run home.
Race 2   OUTBACK TRADING PASSING LANE HANDICAP TROT
TIKI - required the assistance of a Starting Attendant within the final one minute prior to the start. Placed on the Unruly for future stands. Lost ground middle stages. Broke near the 400m losing all chance.
MECHANICA - broke rounding the first turn losing all chance.
SO MYSTIFYING - pre-race warmed. Broke rounding the first turn losing considerable ground.
Race 3   CARTOWN MOBILE PACE
SWEET WILLOW - broke early in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
MARIA KIRILENKO - back from position at dispatch. Driver B Wilkins was issued with a warning. Weakened leaving the final turn.
PRETTY BOY - commenced to over-race near the 1150m when MILLION DOLLAR CHIC improved to its outside.
THE BIG BANG - raced wide early. Driver M Hay was warned for allowing his runner to shift down into the passing lane late in the run home.
MELTON ENFORCER - over-raced middle stages.
EDDIE OSEI - raced wide with cover from the 1000m.
CYAMATE - raced wide with cover from the 1250m.
MILLION DOLLAR CHIC - raced wide without cover from the 1350m when unable to obtain the position outside the leader which was being held by PRETTY BOY.
Race 4   SOUTH RANGITIKEI VETS MOBILE PACE
SHEZABETTORGIRL - raced wide early and middle stages before obtaining a position midfield in the running line.
CALL SECURITY - raced wide early after unsuccessfully contesting for a position in the running line and was restrained towards the rear.
FUSION REACTOR - back from position at dispatch. Driver S Abernethy was issued with a warning.
MATAI HARRY - raced wide without cover from the 1100m. Lay in near the 900m and then again passing the 400m when commencing to weaken. When questioned regarding the performance Driver W House stated that the race had not been run to suit when having to attempt to improve wide in the middle stages.
Race 5   MKM HANDICAP TROT
HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL - broke near the 1650m losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
FORGIVENESS - broke near the 200m losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
JOHNNY WHO - broke briefly at the start losing ground.
Race 6   DOUG BRADLEY PAINTERS PALMERSTONIAN MOBILE PACE
LORD DELMAR - lay out racing down the back straight the final time and raced wider when leading. Shifted out further rounding the final turn despite the efforts of Driver P Ferguson carrying GOTTA ELECT BILL wider on the track. A final warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Authorisation of LORD DELMAR's 3rd placing was withheld until Driver S Abernethy (GOTTA ELECT BILL - 4th placing) had viewed the replays and elected not to proceed with a protest, with placings then being duly authorised.
TWISTA - when questioned regarding the performance Driver J Dunn stated that after going back early he had then failed to get into the race as he had hoped given the strong tempo set throughout.
ROUGH AND READY - had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the middle stages of the home straight. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted Driver K Coppins stated that she elected not to improve around in the middle stages as she had on the first day due to GOTTA ELECT BILL having secured the parked position, which she felt would then not be available.
Race 7   CAPTURE SIGNS MOBILE PACE
CANDY GIRL - weakened in the run home.
MAJOR MOONSHINE - commenced to over-race entering the back straight the first time when left without cover then continued to over-race when SILENT THEORY improved around three wide to its outer. When questioned regarding the performance Driver E Johnson stated that the gelding had received every opportunity.
Race 8   RACING AGAIN 8 JANUARY MOBILE PACE
RHAEGAL - lay in and paced roughly approaching the first turn.
LINCOLN MAREE - paced roughly entering the first turn hampering outside runners.
TAVENER - hampered by an inside runner entering the first turn. Weakened rounding the final turn. Trainer D Gale advised that the gelding would not be persevered with as a racing proposition.
S S GUPPY - hampered by an inside runner entering the first turn and sustained a punctured sulky tyre when contacted by the trailing BET ON POLLY. Retired from the event passing the 1000m when the tyre and tube came away from the rim.
BET ON POLLY - pulled hard score up. Hampered entering the first turn and contacted the sulky tyre of S S GUPPY which punctured. Weakened in the run home.
