Race 7 - McMILLAN EQUINE FEEDS NZJD CHAMPS (HEAT 4) MOBILE TROT
Junior driver M Holbrough (assisted by B Mowbray) defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging she drove carelessly when allowing BILLY KIMBER to trail too closely behind HE AINT FAKIN during the running resulting in contact being made with driver E Johnson's helmet which was dislodged. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and Miss Holbrough's driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing on 10 December up to and including 18 December 2025 (3 days).

Race 1   IRT. YOUR HORSE. OUR PASSION. MOBILE TROT
A false start was declared due to the boring pole on PRINCESS SADIE coming adrift after the mare was fractious early in the score up. This gear was inspected and found to be in good condition with trainer M Williamson deemed not to be at fault. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
ONE MHOR FOR HEATHER - broke after 100m losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
FREYA - held up late in the run home.
MOSES -raced wide early.
MASTER CLASS - raced wide early.
CORMORAN STRIKE - over-raced in the early stages and broke after 100m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
PRACTICAL MAGIC - lay outwards and trotted roughly in the run home.
PRINCESS SADIE - came together briefly with PRACTICAL MAGIC when that runner lay outwards early in the run home.
Race 2   BETAVET BUILDAGUT MOBILE PACE
CARRERA VAMOS - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S O'Reilly. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Checked by a breaking runner near the 1100m.
TUPPENCE - checked by a breaking runner near the 1100m.
BLAZE CRAZE - checked by a breaking runner near the 1100m. Lay inwards early in the run home crowding an inside runner near the 200m resulting in the near side sulky tyre being contacted and punctured. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
ROCKOUTRAY - checked by a breaking runner near the 1100m. Crowded by an outside runner near the 200m.
SADIE - broke after 100m checking a trailing runner losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Broke again near the 650m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
TIDY KIWI - broke near the 1100m checking trailing runners losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
DREAM BOYZ - raced wide early. Lay inwards final bend striking track markers.
SWIMMING POOLE - connections advised the gelding would be racing without front shoes. Checked by a breaking runner after 100m and broke losing ground. Paced roughly over the concluding stages. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
Race 3   GALLAGHER INSURANCE MOBILE TROT
A false start was declared when MIKKO KOIVU broke late in the score up hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver R Holmes elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart.
There was a further delay to the start due to BILLY KIMBER requiring a change of sulky due to having a punctured tyre and HARRIET'S MOMENT requiring gear adjustments.
MIKKO KOIVU - weakened final bend.
NOAH MAGNIFIC - broke near the 150m losing all chance.
CLOVELLY HILL - held up final bend.
BILLY KIMBER - raced wide early. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
YOSEMITE - raced wide early. Broke near the 700m losing all chance.
MACHO MAN - trotted roughly over the early stages.
HARRIET'S MOMENT - over-raced middle stages. Weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver C Dalgety advised the false start combined with the mare over-racing had taken its toll.
RIDGE - raced wide early.
Race 4   MEG CUNNEEN RACING MOBILE PACE
DOVER TERRACE - checked by a fallen runner near the 650m and broke briefly shortly after.
GOTTA LATHER UP - raced greenly on several occasions.
SHADOW CREEK - checked by a fallen runner near the 650m.
SCOTLYNN CRUNCH - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1300m.
POISON IVY - over-raced when being restrained to obtain cover for a distance passing the 1400m. Continued to over-race placing driver O Thornley in some difficulty and as a result made contact with the back of the sulky of LARISSA BEAUDIENE and broke before falling near the 600m dislodging driver O Thornley checking SHADOW CREEK, HERE COMES MARTY, DOVER TERRACE and JOHN STEWART with driver M Williamson being dislodged from the sulky of JOHN STEWART. POISON IVY escaped driverless before being recaptured and was transported from the track in the Horse Ambulance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a head injury with the mare being treated before being referred to the Canterbury Equine Clinic for further assessment. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to completing one trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before resuming. Driver O Thornley was examined by St John personnel and cleared of injury to fulfill her remaining driving engagement.
TREACHEROUS DREAMS - raced wide until reaching the lead near the 1100m.
HERE COMES MARTY - checked by a fallen runner near the 650m. lay inwards leaving the final bend striking track markers.
SONOFAMISTERY - out of position at the candy pole despite the efforts of driver T Williams. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the colt. Driver T Williams reported he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
JOHN STEWART - checked by a fallen runner near the 650m and fell with driver M Williamson being dislodged from the sulky. A post-race veterinary examination revealed general soreness and a minor laceration to the left hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Driver M Williamson was examined by St John personnel and cleared of injury to fulfill his remaining driving engagements.
Race 5   AVON CITY FORD MOBILE PACE
SCOTLYNN JENNY - weakened leaving the final bend hampering a trailing runner.
BETTOR DREAMS - held up by a weakening runner leaving the final bend.
ASHES OF JOY - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
MISS ETHEL - paced roughly late in the score up and was back from position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
Race 6   FORESTQUIP MOBILE PACE
QUEEN TYRON - when questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised the filly had raced lethargically and he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination and endoscopy revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery with an inflamed airway. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
BETTOR BE SHARP - over-raced middle stages.
Race 7   GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND MOBILE PACE
JAZZYS UPSTART - over-raced middle stages.
JUSTYOUWAIT - late scratching at 10.54am on Veterinary advice.
Race 8   DOWNBYTHESEASIDE 'MAKING A SPLASH' MOBILE PACE
TOSANA - lay inwards in the middle stages of the run home having to be straightened by driver M Hurrell.
QUEEN OF SWORDS - held up rounding the final bend.
CLASSIE LINC - over-raced early stages.
FOLLOW YOUR DREAM - weakened in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised he was disappointed with the effort and was unable to provide any explanation. Connections advised they will have blood tests taken from the mare in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
Race 9   GOLD BAND TAXIS MOBILE PACE
LESTER - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver K Butt. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
COMMANDER BEN - over-raced when leading through the middle stages. Driver O Thornley reported the gelding had been striking the sulky wheel discs during the running.
J T BOE - pre-race warmed.
MAGICIAN - co-trainers C & C Dalgety were issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race with removable deafeners which had not been notified.
COCKTAILS AND CAVIAR - held up rounding the final bend and early in the run home. Shifted outwards near the 200m and struck the sulky wheel of HERE'S HERBIE. Driver N Burton was issued a warning for the manner in which she drove. Miss Burton was also issued a warning for using her whip with her foot removed from the sulky footrest near the 150m.
