Race 1   DUNSTAN SPEEDFEED - NORTHERN METRO TROTTERS FINAL MOB TROT
MEMORIES - hampered by a breaking runner near the 300m losing ground.
MISS BEBE - raced wide early.
SHES ALL LEGS - lay out approaching the 900m having to be corrected. Hampered by a breaking runner passing the 350m and shifted out when taking evasive action checking an outside runner. Stewards took no action against Driver P Ferguson given the circumstances. A post-race veterinary examination requested by connections revealed the mare to be suffering from synchronous diaphragmatic flutter (thumps) which was treated. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
WHATEVER IT TAKES - broke near the 350m hampering trailing runners and was taken down inside the marker line losing its chance.
CRAZY - pre-race warmed.
SANINARMBRO - over-raced middle stages.
LOOK TO DA STARS - trotted roughly then broke passing the 400m and was taken down inside the marker line to clear trailing runners losing its chance. Driver A Poutama reported that the gelding had cast the near fore shoe in this incident.
HILLBILLY - had to be steadied near the 1700m when there was an easing of the pace. Commenced to over-race near the 1400m before being taken out three wide and raced wide without cover thereafter.
CYCLONE SALA - checked and broke near the 300m losing its chance.
Race 2   FRANKLIN COUNTRY CUP HANDICAP PACE
BETA PREPARE - paced roughly rounding the final turn.
FINAL CHANGE - broke at the start losing ground.
VILLAGE REBEL - required assistance from an attendant within the final minute prior to the start. Placed on the unruly for future stands.
IRON BRIGADE - broke briefly at the start. Had to be steadied near the 800m after becoming awkwardly placed to the sulky of VILLAGE REBEL. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight.
HOORAY HENRY - weakened in the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver D Butcher stated that he was disappointed with the effort and he will be turning the gelding out for a spell.
COLD CHISEL - forced wider near the 950m and was then taken forward to race outside the leader passing the 700m before weakening in the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no findings of significance on endoscopy. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
Race 3   LONE STAR ALEXANDRA PARK HANDICAP TROT
MAGIC DASH - late scratching at 12.06pm on veterinary advice.
HALBERG - broke at the start losing all chance. Authorisation of this runner's 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
LORD POPINJAY - Driver M White reported that he didn't activate the sliding blinds due to having the field covered.
Race 4   ROBERTSON BATHWARE - NORTHERN METRO PACERS FINAL MOB PACE
The start of this event was delayed one minute at the request of Raceday Control.
PRINCESS OF SAVOY - broke near the 1300m with trailing runners having to take evasive action and lost all chance. An investigation was held into this incident and it was established that PRINCESS OF SAVOY had galloped after contacting the sulky wheel of WORDS with its near hind when both runners shifted ground marginally. Given the circumstances Stewards took the matter no further.
CAPTAINS SECRET - paced roughly and broke approaching the 1800m losing ground before settling. Commenced to weaken near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. When questioned Co-Trainer S Telfer advised that he would turning this runner out for a spell with the gelding being stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
MICK KONSTANTIN - commenced to weaken near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination no abnormality. When questioned Trainer/Driver J Abernethy could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance and advised that he would have blood taken from the gelding in the coming days and would advise Stewards of the results.
BRUNTWOOD BRIGADE - weakened in the run home.
ANOTHER COLLECT - late scratching at 10.51am on veterinary advice.
TIGHT LINES - weakened in the run home.
Race 5   TAB - QUEEN OF DIAMONDS PRELUDE MOBILE TROT
EMILY BAY - weakened in the run home.
JASINOVA - broke shortly after the start and continued on in a strong gallop for the remainder of the event despite the efforts of Driver L Chin. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a mobile start prior to resuming.
YA RITE DARL - broke at the start hampering a trailing runner losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future mobiles.
LOTERIA - pre-race warmed. Hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
COURMAYEUR - forced wide near the 950m and was taken forward to race outside the leader near the 700m. Broke passing the 400m losing its chance.
Race 6   CADUCEUS CLUB NORTHERN BREEDERS STAKES MOBILE PACE
AQUILA - weakened rounding the final turn.
AKATEA - pre-race warmed. When questioned regarding the performance Driver M McKendry stated that after having gone back early from the wide draw that he had some difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the final turn but was satisfied with the manner in which the mare ran on in the home straight given the closing sectionals.
FRANCENT - raced wide early. Lay in at various stages.
YOU LITTLE BEAUTY - over-raced middle stages.
Race 7   "CHEERS TO 30 YEARS GREG POPE - AN IRT LEGEND" HANDICAP TROT
PARAMOUNT SPUR - lay in near the 2250m contacting track markers when leading.
HAPPY HILL - broke at the start losing ground. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 250m.
HOME GROWN GIRL - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
MAJESTIC CRACKER - pre-race warmed. Broke shortly after the start losing ground.
MAD MARY - slow early.
VISCOUNT MACKENDON - broke near the 250m and dislodged a track marker hampering a trailing runner and lost all chance. When questioned Junior Driver J Dunn, assisted by B Hackett, advised that he had encountered difficulty in activating the deafeners with this gelding laying in and becoming awkwardly placed to the sulky of the leader PARAMOUNT SPUR before breaking when being steadied out of the position. After viewing the replays and considering the matter Stewards warned Mr Dunn to ensure that he maintains sufficient control given similar circumstances in the future.
EYE SEE YOU - broke passing the 150m losing its chance.
Race 8   DUNSTAN SPEEDFEED JUNIOR DRIVERS MOB PACE
FIFTH AND FINAL - weakened late in the run home.
MELODY BANNER - pre-race warmed. Over-raced middle stages.
Race 9   IRT. YOUR HORSE. OUR PASSION MOBILE PACE
AMERICAN FALCON - broke for several strides at the start.
BETTOR REACTION - was strongly restrained near the 1200m after improving to the inside of RAGNAR LOTHBROK when Driver N Chilcott activated the hopple shorteners. Lay in and raced over track markers rounding the final turn.
Race 10   BORDER FENCING SERVICES TROT
VALENTINA SHEVCHENKO - weakened in the run home.
SOUTH SYDNEY - weakened in the run home.
ROYAL PETITE - pre-race warmed. Over-raced middle stages when outside the leader. Weakened in the run home.
VACATION - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Broke passing the 200m. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
JOE KENNEDY - broke approaching the 1100m losing ground. When questioned Driver Z Butcher advised that he didn't attribute his gelding breaking to the outward movement of I'LL CALL YOU which had shifted away from the marker line. Had difficulty obtaining clear running throughout the home straight.
