Stewards viewed replays of the pre-race formation and were satisfied that Miss Johnson's helmet had been securely fastened. The helmet was inspected following the race and found to be in good condition with no blame attributed to Miss Johnson for it coming undone. Stewards questioned Miss Johnson (assisted by B Williamson) regarding her decision to continue driving in the race after her helmet had come adrift rather than retire the gelding from the race when the opportunity existed.
