Race 1   RICOH TROT
ONE OVER DA LINE - broke near the 2200m losing ground. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
SPECIAL EFFECTS - broke rounding the first bend hampering a trailing runner losing ground. Weakened final bend.
CODY BANNER - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend. Broke near the 700m losing ground. Broke again near the 350m losing all chance.
ROYAL GYPSY - broke at the start hampering a trailing runner losing ground.
ALDEBARAN CRYSTAL - hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages.
MIDNIGHT DIAMOND - lay inwards into the passing lane in the run home having to be corrected by driver M Purdon
WHAT THE BELL - raced wide early. Broke near the 1300m losing ground. Trotted roughly near the 650m before breaking and losing all chance.
GRANNY ROSE - S Tomlinson was a late driver change replacing G Smith. Mr Smith defended a breach of Rule 507(1) in that he broke a driving engagement and after hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Smith the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.
RUTHLESS EMMA - late scratching at 8.47am on Veterinary advice.
SWITCH ON - raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages. Trotted roughly rounding the final bend.
HOLLY HIGHLANDER - shifted inwards near the 450m placing AMENDMENT in restricted room with the sulky wheel being contacted. After taking initial evidence from driver B Butt (AMENDMENT), Stewards adjourned the enquiry due to driver O Thornley having left the course.
AMENDMENT - had to be steadied near the 450m when an outside runner shifted inwards making contact with the wheel.
Driver O Thornley (HOLLY HIGHLANDER) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she shifted inwards near the 450m when not clear of AMENDMENT resulting in her sulky tyre being punctured. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.
Race 2   BETAVET PREPARE & HERBAZOLE MOBILE PACE
SWEET RAINE - held up for the majority of the run home.
QUINN - weakened leaving the final bend.
THE BETTOR MAJOR - over-raced early stages.
J T BOE - lay inwards throughout the run home.
TAKETHEPLUNGE - over-raced middle stages. Shifted in marginally near the 100m.
HEAVEN'S MARK - dictated inwards marginally by TAKETHEPLUNGE near the 100m simultaneously to CAPTAIN KOBE attempting a run to the inside resulting in CAPTAIN KOBE being placed in restricted room and over a track marker having to be steadied. After speaking to drivers J Morrison (HEAVEN'S MARK) and W House (CAPTAIN KOBE), Stewards were satisfied no one horse or driver was solely to blame and took the matter no further.
MIKI'S COURAGE - raced wide early. Again raced wide from the 800m. Weakened final bend.
CAPTAIN KOBE - struck and raced over a track marker when placed in restricted room near the 100m having to be steadied.
REMISSION - over-raced middle stages. Lay inwards leaving the final bend striking track markers.
Race 3   NZB STANDARDBRED HARNESS MILLION 6 2YO MOBILE TROT
REGAL SUMMIT - weakened final bend.
Connections advised Stewards that WHO'S YA DADDY has had a coffin joint treated since last racing.
Race 4   LEGENDARY HANOVER NOW AT ALABAR MOBILE PACE
MIKI KNOWS - junior driver R Harrison (assisted by J Dunn) admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) in that she shifted outwards near the 2000m forcing MAGICIAN to race wider on the track. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
MAGICIAN - pre-race warmed. Forced to race wider on the track near the 2000m when BRYCE'S MEDDLE shifted outwards. Weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver C Dalgety advised he was disappointed and was unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high respiratory rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
MAGICIAN - connections advised on 16 October that blood tests returned clear and its the intention to continue with the geldings current preparation.
Race 5   TYRE GENERAL HANDICAP TROT
READY SET JET - trainer B Butt was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race with removable deafeners which had not been notified.
MAD JACK - trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be fully driven out.
YA EEJIT YA - weakened final bend.
MUSCLE SASS - held up final bend. Trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
LIL WHIP - broke after 200m losing considerable ground.
FREYA - broke at the start hampering a trailing runner losing all chance.
RUSH - held up final bend and until late in the run home. Driver S Ottley advised she did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
MISSILE - trotted roughly at various stages throughout. Raced wide without cover from the 1300m.
HELLOVEAMOMENT - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Broke after 100m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 6   NZB STANDARDBRED HARNESS MILLION 6 2YO FILLIES MOB PACE
WAT NEXT - pre-race warmed.
LARISSA LILY - paced roughly in the run home.
WAR CRY - held up final bend and again in the middle stages of the run home.
SHEZSOFAST - raced greenly in the score up. Lay outwards rounding the final bend despite the efforts of driver A Poutama.
Race 7   LEIGH & GREG AYERS HILARIOUS GUEST FILLIES CLASSIC MOB PACE
SHEZABETTORGIRL - hung outwards in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Continued to hang outwards during the running. Weakened final bend. Driver W House advised the filly had locked on one rein.
CELESTIAL SEA - out of position at the candy pole despite the efforts of driver J Dunn. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
Race 8   BRAXTON FARRIERS WORTHY QUEEN (HANDICAP TROT)
MAUI - began awkwardly.
FATHER TIME - held up early in the run home before being hampered by a breaking runner near the 150m.
CONFESSIONAL - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming. Broke again passing the 400m losing all chance.
LOVE N THE PORT - broke near the 150m hampering trailing runners losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
MIDNIGHT DASH - hampered near the 250m.
MIGHTY LOGAN - raced wide early. Lay outwards over the concluding stages.
OSCAR BONAVENA - pre-race warmed. Hampered near the 250m.
BET N WIN - hampered by a breaking runner near the 150m.
MUSCLE MOUNTAIN - shifted wider and then lay inwards near the 250m when driver B Hope was activating gear placing an inside runner in restricted room with a trailing runner also being hampered. Mr Hope was advised to take greater care when activating gear in similar circumstances.
ONE OVER ALL - trotted roughly rounding the final bend.
Caretaker Trainer N Williamson advised Stewards on 22 October that LOVE N THE PORT has had its fetlocks treated since last racing.
Race 9   COMMODORE HOTEL WELCOMES HARNESS CLUBS OF NZ HCP PACE
RENEGADE - broke at the start and then again shortly after losing ground.
PINSEEKER - tangled away. Held up at various stages of the run home.
MO'UNGA - when questioned regarding the performance trainer R Todd advised he was not disappointed given the quick sectionals of the race.
VESSEM - broke briefly at the start losing ground.
REPUBLICAN PARTY - pre-race warmed. Tangled away. Driver C Dalgety advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
AKUTA - when questioned regarding the performance co-trainer/driver M Purdon advised he was disappointed with the gelding's effort despite racing parked for a distance. Mr Purdon further added that not having raced for nearly one month may have been a contributing factor. A post-race veterinary examination including an endoscopy at the request of connections detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horse's performance. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing next.
Race 10   WOODLANDS MARES SPRING SPRINT CLASSIC (MOBILE PACE)
BOUDICA - late scratching at 8.47am on Veterinary advice.
LAKELSA - when questioned regarding the performance trainer R Todd advised the mare may be better suited when driven with cover.
WALLFLOWER - raced wide until being restrained to the rear of the field near the 1250m.
TREACHEROUS BABY - held up final bend.
DYNASTY - held up final bend. Awkwardly placed to the inside of TREACHEROUS GALL having to be steadied when attempting a marginal run near the 300m. Driver B Butt was spoken to for the manner in which he shifted ground.
Race 11   DAKINS GROUP 3YO FLYING STAKES (MOBILE PACE)
GOT THE CHOCOLATES - pre-race warmed.
GREASED LIGHTNIN - held up middle stages of the run home.
IRISH DREAM - lay inwards rounding the final bend.
Race 12   NZB STANDARDBRED HARNESS MILLION 6 2YO C&G MOB PACE
ZEUS LIGHTNING - co-trainers H & A Cullen were issued a warning for being late to notify the gelding would be racing with blinds.
WAR CHIEF - lay inwards when weakening rounding the final bend striking a track marker. When questioned regarding the performance driver Z Butcher advised the gelding had worked too hard early which had taken its toll over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination and endoscopy at the request of connections detected a slow recovery and a degree of mucous in the trachea. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing next.
EUN SOGNO - over-raced middle stages.
CRITICAL IMAGE - raced wide from the 900m.
GET SEASIDE LUCKY - weakened from the 500m hampering a trailing runner.
MAMA'S WISH - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Lay inwards and struck a track marker near the 1500m. Weakened leaving the final bend.
FRANCO LOMU - hampered by a weakening runner near the 500m. Weakened final bend.
SPECIAL OCCASION - over-raced middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination and endoscopy at the request of connections detected a degree of mucous in the trachea. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing next.
JUMAL - raced wide from the 1000m.
Race 13   GOLD BAND TAXIS HANDICAP TROT
THE MERC - over-raced middle stages. Driver B Williamson advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord breaking.
TYRONS STRAPPING LAD - pre-race warmed. The anti choke device was removed prior to the start due to warming up unfavourably. Broke at the start losing ground. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
CHESTER GOLD - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
BILLY KIMBER - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
LOVE YOU WILMA - broke at the start losing all chance.
WAIHEMO HANNAH - held up final bend. Driver R Harrison accidentally dropped a rein for a short distance near the 700m.
