Race 1   WOODLANDS STUD FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
PRINCESS LISA - commenced to weaken from the 600m. When questioned regarding the performance Driver C Hackett advised she was disappointed with the filly's performance and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
BLAZING KNUCKLES - raced in the parked position for the first 700m when being unable to assume the lead despite the efforts of driver H Orange.
ALLETS - raced wide from the 900m.
JOYRIDE(AUS) - raced three wide for the first 700m. Driver Z Butcher advised that racing wide in the early stages took its toll on the filly over the concluding stages. He further added he was not disappointed with the performance of the filly given the fast tempo of the race.
Connections advised Stewards on 8 October that PRINCESS LISA has recovered well from its last start and will be continuing with its current preparation.
Race 2   METALCRAFT ROOFING 2YO MOBILE TROT
SAVE A PRAYER - broke rounding the final bend losing its chance.
MECHANICA - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
TE AHI - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
Race 3   LISTEN LIVE ON SPORTNATION.NZ MOBILE PACE
SKYS LEGACY - lay outwards near the 100m placing an outside runner in restricted room.
CAPTAINS SECRET - lay inwards early in the run home striking track markers. When questioned regarding the performance driver A Poutama advised the gelding had raced lethargically throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
TYSON - raced wide early.
WALTZING WITH MIKI - placed in restricted room near the 100m when runners on either side shifted ground.
TURN O THE TIDE - raced wide early. Lay inwards near the 100m placing an inside runner in restricted room.
MINJEE - driver J Stormont was warned for using his whip on a runner out of contention in the run home.
Connections advised Stewards on 8 October that CAPTAINS SECRET has recovered well after its last start and will be continuing with its current preparation.
Race 4   BORDER FENCING SERVICES MOBILE PACE
BALLYSPELLANE - weakened from the 500m.
HES NOT THAT INTO U - shied and broke just short of the winning post. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Stewards lodged a protest against 1st placing being awarded under Rule 870(5) alleging this runner was in a break as it reached the finish line and was lapped by MR MIKI. After viewing the replays trainer/driver T Herlihy did not contest the protest and HES NOT THAT INTO U was relegated to 2nd placing by Stewards.
MR MIKI - broke near the 1850m losing ground. A final warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Finished 2nd but promoted to 1st placing after HES NOT THAT INTO U shied and broke just short of the winning post and was lapped on.
Race 5   HAVE YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTY AT ALEX PARK HANDICAP TROT
SANINARMBRO - weakened final bend.
AND REMEMBER ME - held up final bend.
WESTAR MILLY - broke briefly approaching the 1600m losing ground.
BOLT FOR THE HILL - slow to begin.
PANTANI - broke near the 150m.
Race 6   LINCOLN FARMS MOBILE PACE
BETA PREPARE - briefly paced roughly passing the 1100m after a slight easing of the pace.
Race 7   MAJESTIC HORSE FLOATS HANDICAP TROT
ROMEO FOXTROT - lay outwards passing the 1250m striking a track marker.
Race 8   TAB-THE HOLMES DG HANDICAP PACE
The start was delayed due to the 20m barrier strand breaking.
SOONER THE BETTOR - driver H Orange dropped his whip near the 700m when activating gear. Commenced to over-race for a distance from the 600m when MERLIN shied and shifted up the track causing Mr Orange considerable difficulty. Lay inwards striking track markers rounding the final bend.
BETTER KNUCKLE UP - broke briefly at the start losing ground. Over-raced early and middle stages.
COLD CHISEL - broke briefly at the start losing ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no findings of significance on endoscopy. Co-Trainer S Phelan advised he would have the horse examined by the stable veterinarian in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
THE SURFER - over-raced throughout.
MERLIN - shied at a mark near the 600m briefly shifting up the track before returning to the marker line as the leader. When questioned regarding the performance Driver Z Butcher advised he was satisfied with the run considering the horse started off a 20m handicap and also had to work hard in mid-race when progressing forward to lead. Mr Butcher confirmed the horse had shied at a mark on the track near the 600m.
Connections advised Stewards on 9 October that COLD CHISEL has been treated for a minor lung infection since last racing.
Race 9   BOOK NOW FOR MELBOURNE CUP IN THE ALEX MOBILE PACE
COLIN MCBRIDE - lay inwards and paced roughly near the 450m after hitting a knee hampering trailing runners before being taken up the track by driver H Orange when continuing to pace roughly. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
FIFTH AND FINAL - paced roughly near the 1250m.
MELODY BANNER - hampered near the 450m.
MAKO - hampered near the 450m. Driver K Coppins advised she did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
