BOJACK HORSEMAN - broke near the 250m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
ROYALGLOW - late scratching at 9.00am on Veterinary advice.
EL GALLO - broke rounding the first bend hampering trailing runners losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Trotted roughly rounding the final bend when weakening.
MACHO MAN - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend.
SOMETHING ELSE - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
WHICH WAY - began awkwardly. Hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start and broke losing ground. Weakened from the 700m.
TERRY WEBSTER - broke shortly after the start hampering trailing runners and then switched to a pace losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming.
KOWHAI SUNBURST - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend.
ZHUTEE - broke racing into the first bend losing all chance.
Race 2   GEORGE SHAND MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
SPIRIT OF ATLANTA - lay outwards near the 200m hampering an outside runner.
TAYRONA - driver T Williams advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
FEAR THE DIVA - lay inwards early in the run home. Hampered by an inside runner near the 200m. Driver J Cox advised the filly had hung on a number of occasions during the running.
ULTIMATE PERFECTION - broke in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
TAIKA - weakened final bend.
Race 3   BEEBY'S CONTRACTING LTD PACE
THIRD PARTY - hung outwards rounding the first bend.
IAMTHECAPTAINNOW - fractious prior to the start. Broke at the start losing ground.
MELTON ENFORCER - trainer K Barron was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race without the notified sliding blinds. The overcheck on the gelding became displaced during the running. Driver B Orange reported the gelding had been making abnormal breathing noises during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Trainer J Gray advised Stewards on 15 October that SADIE has been treated for a virus since last racing.
Race 4   REMEMBERING TUB TROT
PASTERNAK - broke after 150m hampering trailing runners losing considerable ground.
ANNROSE - began awkwardly. Broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Broke again rounding the final bend losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
SHE'S GOT SASS - hampered by a breaking runner after 150m.
MOA MOJITO - fractious prior to the start.
CHESTER GOLD - fractious prior to the start. Broke at the start losing ground.
ROYAL ROCK - trainer J Morrison was issued a warning for being late to notify the gelding would be racing with a whip.
MOONLIGHT ANGEL - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Hampered by a breaking runner after 150m. Weakened final bend.
MIKKO KOIVU - broke at the start and shifted outwards hampering an outside runner losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke again rounding the final bend losing its chance.
BILLY KIMBER - broke passing the 2100m losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
AMENDMENT - hampered by a breaking runner after 150m.
SNOOOWGOOD - hampered by a breaking runner which shifted outwards at the start and broke losing all chance.
Race 5   MAINFERT HANDICAP PACE
SUPER FUND - held up early in the run home.
THE CONQUEROR - weakened final bend.
SANS REPOS - held up early in the run home and lay outwards over the concluding stages.
DELIGHTFUL DREAMS - broke briefly at the start losing ground. Raced wide from the 900m.
CARLIN - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. Driver S Tomlinson advised she did not activate the sliding blinds in consequence.
GEM N EM - held up final bend and early in the run home.
DON'T TELL JENNY - raced wide from the 700m.
GEORGIE ZUKOV - broke briefly at the start.
Race 6   BROSNAN TRANSPORT LTD TIMARU NURSERY STAKES (MOBILE PACE)
ROMA was fractious prior to the start and sent to the unruly position by the Starter where the gelding will remain for future mobile starts. There was a delay to the start when ROMA refused to score up with the field being pulled up to reassemble. ROMA was declared a late scratching by Order of Stewards under Rule 213(1)(e) due to unsatisfactory manners prior to the start. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a mobile start prior to resuming.
FREEZE FRAME - held up final bend. Driver C Dalgety advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
CRUNCHED - raced wide from the 900m.
GET SEASIDE LUCKY - over-raced middle stages.
UTAH BLAZE - weakened from the 800m hampering trailing runners. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised the colt had raced lethargically throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.
FRANCO LOMU - hampered by a weakening runner near the 800m.
CONAN - hung inwards final bend and throughout the run home.
HANNY LONGLEGS - hampered by a weakening runner near the 800m.
Race 7   EMPIRE HOTEL SOCIAL CLUB HANDICAP PACE
The race was stopped by Stewards under Rule 211A(1) shortly after the start when CLONAKILTY shifted inwards and contacted ZOOM X with driver S Ottley being dislodged and the gelding escaping driverless for a short distance before being recaptured. Both horses were examined by the Veterinarian and cleared to take part in the re-run. Driver S Ottley was examined by St John personnel and cleared of injury. CLONAKILTY was sent to the unruly position by the Starter where the gelding will remain for future standing starts.
MAJOR HAPPY - broke at the start in the re-run losing ground.
FRANCO SAILOR - broke at the start in the re-run losing all chance.
WUHAN - broke at the start in the re-run losing ground. Weakened final bend.
THE BETTOR MAJOR - Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1500m when THE BETTOR MAJOR raced wider on the track. After viewing the replays it was established that THE COALMAN had shifted wider prior to THE BETTOR MAJOR reaching its sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.
Authorisation of placings was withheld until Stewards had viewed the photo finish in conjunction with the Judge G Rowland in relation to the dead heat for 2nd placing between CLONAKILTY and RIPTIDE with all placings being duly authorised.
Race 8   REMEMBERING DUNC MOBILE PACE
SCRUNCH - driver J Dunn advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
HANOI FRANCO - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Hung inwards throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be slightly dehydrated and showing signs of a seasonal complaint. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Trainer P Shennan advised the mare will be sent for a spell.
ROCK FERN - trainer R Houghton was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race with the incorrect number.
CALORIEFREE - forced to race wide near the 600m.
SMOKING ASHES - raced wide early stages.
Race 9   THE TYRE GENERAL TIMARU SUMMER CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
FITZTHEBILL - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
FOLLOW YOUR DREAM - broke at the start losing ground.
BRYCE'S MEDDLE - hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
WALLFLOWER - broke briefly at the start losing ground.
WINNYZBACK - weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination at the request of connections revealed lameness in both front legs. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
AMARETTO FRANCO - broke briefly at the start losing ground.
FRANCO SINATRA - when questioned regarding the performance driver C Dalgety advised he was disappointed with the effort and was unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination at the request of connections revealed no abnormalities. Connections advised they will have blood tests taken from the gelding in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
FRANCO SINATRA - connections advised on 16 October that blood tests returned clear. Further advised that the gelding has been given a freshen-up on the beach, as noted in the horse movement notification.
Race 10   MY BEAUTY SPOT / PARK NIGHT' N DAY HANDICAP TROT
TAKE AFTER ME - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
SON OF THE CLEANER - broke rounding the final bend losing its chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming. Trainer L Dobbs advised he would be making gear changes.
SHEZA TRENDY ONE - broke at the start losing ground.
SHEILA LAXON - broke at the start losing all chance.
DIAMOND HARBOUR - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
MILLIE LET LOOSE - hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
WHAT THE BELL - broke near the 100m and settled shortly after. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the run home.
Race 11   EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICES MOBILE PACE
BRONSKI - driver C Thornley advised that one hopple shortener had broken placing the gelding at a disadvantage.
HOPE FOR LOVE - over-raced when being restrained in the early stages.
HEAVEN - trainer K James was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race without the notified anti choke device.
WAVEWATCHER - when questioned regarding the improved performance connections advised the gelding had benefitted from a change of gear and an economical run today.
HI LIFE - when questioned regarding the performance driver R Harrison advised that after drawing wide and being restrained at the start the race had not been run to suit and she was not overly disappointed with the effort.
MAGICAL MAX - raced wide early.
LASA - hung outwards rounding the final bend.
