Race Comments

Race 1   BRILLA BEAUTIES TICKETS ON SALE NOW 16TH OCTOBER HCP TROT
PRESIDENT FLYNNTIN - lay inwards rounding the bends.
KEEP IT KLASSY - slow early. Lay inwards passing the 1200m striking several track markers.
Race 2   PIZZA & BEER NIGHT IN SKYLINE LOUNGE 9TH OCT. MOBILE PACE
MANTRA - paced roughly in the score up and through the early stages. Paced roughly again near the 450m after a hopple carrier came adrift hampering a trailing runner. Continued to pace roughly for a distance then broke passing the 100m losing all chance. Trainer J Young was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to tape the hopple carrier so as not to come adrift. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
CHANGE TACT - raced wide early.
HEAVEN HIGH - shifted out rounding the final bend when driver M Ranger activated the removable deafeners having to be straightened.
COLIN MCBRIDE - over-raced middle stages. Hampered near the 450m. Held up final bend and early in the run home. Stewards questioned driver H Orange regarding the fact that despite being held up in the early stages of the run home he did not activate the removable deafeners when obtaining clear racing room passing the 75m. Mr Orange advised that he felt it was better not to activate the gear as when he had driven the horse previously and activated the deafeners he believed the gelding had not finished off its race as strongly as he would have wished. Stewards noted Mr Orange's comments, including that he would not be recommending a gear change and reminded him of his obligations to ensure in similar circumstances in the future the gear is activated.
Race 3   IRT. YOUR HORSE. OUR PASSION. HANDICAP TROT
VERONICA JANE - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL - broke rounding the first bend losing considerable ground.
ROMEO FOXTROT - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after the trainer advised Stewards the gelding had been treated for a skin infection since last racing and was cleared to start.
Race 4   WDC COMING TO CAMBRIDGE IN NOVEMBER MOBILE PACE
MOENUI MISS - lay inwards rounding the final bend striking track markers.
TRES BONNE FILLE - over-raced middle stages. Hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
TUAREG - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
CUPIDS ARROW - lay inwards rounding the final bend striking track markers. Lay inwards again passing the 100m striking a track marker.
Race 5   BETAVET HERBAZOLE MOBILE PACE
JACCKA OPA - paced roughly inside the final 50m causing the driver some difficulty and broke briefly just short of the finish line placing ALWAYSBESECRET in restricted room. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards had viewed the replays with junior driver K Coppins (assisted by R Lawson) and were satisfied the gelding was in its correct gait when reaching the finishing line.
PLAY THE ACE - over-raced on occasions during the running. Weakened from the 700m hampering a trailing runner. When questioned regarding the mare's performance, and specifically why he shifted out from the trailing position near the 1000m, driver T Mitchell advised the mare had been over-racing in what was its first start for six months causing him some difficulty and for this reason he shifted out as he believed had he not done so the horse might have choked down. Stewards noted Mr Mitchell's comments. Mr Mitchell also indicated that he will be recommending gear changes prior to racing next. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
MANDALA - hampered by a weakening runner near the 700m.
ALWAYSBESECRET - placed in restricted room by a breaking runner just short of the finish line.
Race 6   DUNSTAN HORSEFEEDS MOBILE PACE
INNOCENT MAN - paced roughly late in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 7   CAMB RDA FUNDRAISER IN SKYLINE LOUNGE 30TH OCT HCP TROT
STASH THE CASH - held up early in the run home.
WHATZ THE LUCK - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming.
