Race 1   LONE STAR ALEXANDRA PARK HANDICAP TROT
DRAGONSTONE - trotted roughly rounding the first turn.
REGAL GIRL - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced at Cambridge last evening and was cleared to start.
MATTY A - when questioned regarding the performance Driver A Poutama could offer no explanation for what he considered to be a disappointing effort.
Race 2   BOOK YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTY @ ALEX PARK MOBILE PACE
SAVARNA - had to be steadied when becoming awkwardly placed to the sulky of TWO JULES near the 1150m.
PROVISEUR - over-raced middle stages. Driver E Johnson was warned for using her whip in a continuous manner in the middle stages of the run home.
Race 3   IRT 2YO SIRES STAKES TROTTERS PRELUDE MOBILE TROT
CHICKIES BABE - lay in contacting track markers near the 1350m.
SAVE A PRAYER - lay in and was back from position at dispatch. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Lay in contacting track markers near the 1350m. Lay in again contacting track markers rounding the final turn. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home with Driver B Hackett not activating the removable deafeners as a result.
SUTTLE - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier manners.
Race 4   "GET BEHIND THE BIG BLUE DRIVE" MOBILE PACE
GOTTA GO MIKI - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room early in the run home then held up late.
DREAM ON LOU - lay in and paced roughly under pressure rounding the final turn contacting track markers.
NEW KID IN TOWN - when questioned regarding the performance Driver A Poutama stated the gelding had travelled well however was disappointing over the concluding stages.
WALTZING WITH MIKI - when questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer/Driver B Butcher stated the gelding had been racing without much luck in recent starts and had enjoyed a good run in tonight's event.
TYSON - raced wide early. Shifted out approaching the 1000m after being corrected when unsuccessfully attempting to obtain the lead.
NELSON'S BOY - broke approaching the 750m losing all chance. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
Race 5   BORDER FENCING SERVICES HANDICAP TROT
AND REMEMBER ME - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
LOOK TO DA STARS - pre-race warmed.
PATRICK MAHOMES - shifted in rounding the final turn placing an inside runner in restricted room. Junior Driver H Orange (assisted by S Phelan) admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.
EMILY BAY - lay in and contacted track markers rounding the final turn.
STONE COLD - cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
WESTAR MILLY - lay in late in the run home.
EYRE I WILL - broke briefly rounding the final turn when placed in restricted room.
Race 6   THE ALEX BAR & EATERY MOBILE PACE
SUGAR RAY LINCOLN - over-raced middle stages after surrendering the lead.
BETA PREPARE - paced roughly for several strides passing the 150m.
LORD DELMAR - over-raced middle stages.
ALWAYS FLYIN - held up late in the run home.
Race 7   WOODLANDS STUD SIRES STAKES 2YO C & G HEAT 3 MOBILE PACE
FUGITIVE - commenced to improve three wide from the 600m before being forced four wide near the 500m. Co-Trainer C Dalgety advised that he was pleased with the run given that the gelding had worked hard wide in what were fast closing sectionals and he considered that FUGITIVE would derive benefit from the fresh up run.
JOHNNY LINCOLN - back from position at dispatch despite the efforts of Driver M McKendry. A warning was placed on the colt's barrier manners.
EVERNDEN - paced roughly rounding the final turn.
Race 8   CADUCEUS CLUB 2YO FILLIES CLASSIC (MOBILE PACE)
RIVERGIRL BELLA - broke in the score up however was in position at the candy pole.
COOL FOR CATS - checked by a breaking runner entering the first turn.
TWIST AND TANGO - broke racing into the first turn checking trailing runners and losing ground before settling. A warning was placed on the filly's racing manners.
WAR CRY - checked when having to take evasive action to avoid a breaking runner entering the first turn.
RIVER - sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 1700m and was then retired from the event after the tyre and tube came away from the rim.
LIZZIE BORDEN - lay inwards in the score up and over the early stages when being restrained towards the rear. Lay in again near the 1700m when shifting out off the back of RIVER contacting that runner's sulky wheel which punctured. A warning was placed on the filly's racing manners.
ALECTO - checked by a breaking runner entering the first turn. Raced wide from the 1350m when unable to secure the position outside the leader which was being held by LIZZIE BORDEN. Weakened final turn.
Race 9   IRT SPRING CUP HANDICAP PACE
LADY OF THE LIGHT - struck and dislodged a track marking rounding the final turn. Driver M McKendry was issued a warning.
COLD CHISEL - broke briefly shortly after the start.
BETTER KNUCKLE UP - broke at the start losing ground.
SOONER THE BETTOR - broke at the start losing ground.
JEREMIAH - broke at the start losing ground.
DUCHESS MEGXIT - raced wide early before securing a position in the running line towards the rear.
MERLIN - Co-Trainer B Purdon advised Stewards that it was connections' intention to drive the entire for one run given he was first up after a lengthy spell and the 20m handicap. This information was passed on to the Commentator for public dissemination. When questioned regarding the performance Driver Z Butcher stated that although he had received a good run when trailing on the outer, he had been further back off the leader when the tempo increased than he would have liked after COLD CHISEL hadn't taken him forward as he had hoped. Mr Butcher added that he was satisfied with the manner in which MERLIN had finished the event off given the circumstances.
Race 10   AUCKLAND CO-OP TAXIS 300-3000 HANDICAP TROT
HAPPY HILL - broke briefly at the start. Held up by a weakening runner rounding the final turn. Hampered near the 50m when having to shift ground outwards after WHATEVER IT TAKES shifted down into the passing lane.
PIRAYAS - lay in contacting a track maker when weakening rounding the final turn.
HOME GROWN GIRL - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier manners.
WHATEVER IT TAKES - Driver M McKendry was warned for allowing the gelding to shift inwards into the passing lane late in the run home which resulted in the trailing HAPPY HILL being hampered when having to shift ground.
EYE SEE YOU - shifted out in the run home hampering an outside runner. Authorisation of the gelding's first placing was withheld until Driver J Abernethy (CYCLONE SALA) (2nd placing) confirmed that his chances had not been affected. Driver M White was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home in future.
