Race 1   STEVO'S 75 AND STILL FLYING MOBILE PACE
BURNHAM GIRL - struck a track marker passing the 100m. Driver S Ottley was issued a warning.
DONTTELLTHEBOYS - driver C DeFilippi was issued a warning for using his whip free of the rein in the run home.
TACT TEVA - driver T Williams advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
RIPTIDE - driver T Chmiel admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $400.
CAPTAIN COOL - when questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised the gelding had been unsuited to the tempo of the race and had lost ground when pacing roughly rounding the final bend. Mr Dunn added that due to this he did not activate the removable deafeners.
Race 2   JOHN JONES STEEL MOBILE TROT
LIPSTICK - lay inwards final bend losing ground.
ORIGIN - hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
BRIAN BEATT - raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages. Weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
BIRDY - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
BEVRON - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
JORDAN ANNE - held up early in the run home,
TACTICAL BID - broke after 100m losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
ALDEBARAN CRYSTAL - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home. Driver J Dunn advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
Race 3   MAIA HEALTH FOUNDATION MOBILE PACE
TRUMP CARD - paced roughly rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange advised the gelding had worked hard early to obtain the lead and combined with the fast tempo throughout, the effort had taken its toll.
MATAI HARRY - held up final bend and early in the run home.
RUSTENBURG - lay outwards rounding the final bend and shifted up the track. Driver G O'Reilly was advised to exercise greater care when activating gear.
MYSTERY BEACH - weakened from the 500m.
ACTION MAJOR - raced wide early.
DANCING DESIRE - late scratching at 11.00am on Veterinary advice.
THE BETTOR MAJOR - cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 4   ARK FINANCIAL GROUP 2YO MOBILE TROT
LANDMAN - pre-race warmed. Raced greenly passing the 1100m when leading.
MISS MONEYPENNY - the boring pole was removed prior to the start after warming up unfavourably. Trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Again trotted roughly early stages. Hung inwards final bend when weakening.
TATANKA - out of position at the start. Driver B Butt was issued a warning.
Race 5   TABAK BUSINESS SALES & VIVACE 2YO MOBILE PACE
FRANCO LENNON - hung outwards in the early stages. Again hung outwards rounding the final bend and in the run home.
KENSINGTON MIKE - driver J Cox reported the colt had paced roughly at various stages.
ZEUS LIGHTNING - paced roughly after 100m and broke losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
SONOFAMISTERY - when questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams advised he was disappointed however felt the colt would take improvement from the race.
Race 6   OLI & MIRIAM HICKMAN & CATHOLIC CATHEDRAL PARISH HCP PACE
BETTOR BE SHARP - broke at the start losing ground. Shifted outwards in the early stages crowding an outside runner.
MIKI'S COURAGE - briefly locked wheels with SHEPHERDS DELIGHT after 100m.
MOONLITE BLOOD - broke at the start hampering trailing runners losing ground. Lay inwards in the run home.
DECEPTIVE LEE - raced wide early. Held up early in the run home.
SHEPHERDS DELIGHT - crowded by an inside runner after 100m and briefly locked wheels with MIKI'S COURAGE after 100m.
TOKYO ROSE - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Held up final bend and again over the concluding stages.
TEMPO WARRIOR - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
BRYCE'S MEDDLE - raced wide early.
Junior driver G Thornley (DECEPTIVE LEE) was issued a warning for striking the sulky wheel of GOT YOU COVERED near the 200m.
Race 7   LLOYD & JANE HICKMAN & CATHOLIC CATHEDRAL PARISH MOB PACE
CARDI B - weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination at the request of connections revealed no abnormalities.
OUR SHANGRI LANA - held up leaving the final bend and early in the run home.
AKATEA - weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams advised the mare had been under pressure from the 600m and he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
DANCE TILL DAWN - hampered after 150m. Held up early in the run home.
TREACHEROUS GALL - hampered after 150m.
LAKELSA - paced roughly after 150m with trailing runners being hampered. Driver R Close was warned for failing to concede his position when BOUDICA attempted to shift inwards after 150m. Held up final bend and early in the run home.
Co-trainer A Telfer advised Stewards on 5 September that blood tests and a further veterinary examination of AKATEA revealed no abnormalities and the mare will continue with the current preparation.
Race 8   THERMO KING HANDICAP TROT
SANDFLY BAY - broke at the start losing all chance.
BULLIT TRAIN - trotted roughly in the run home.
TU TANGATA - raced wide early. Broke near the 30m and continued on in a break across the finish line. Stewards lodged a protest against 3rd placing being awarded under Rule 870(5) alleging the gelding was lapped on at the finish by TI AMO BELLE and GOLD BULLION. Connections did not contest the protest and TU TANGATA was relegated to 5th placing by the Stewards.
PAIGE - held up throughout the run home.
THE ROYAL GAMBLE - trotted roughly final bend.
CORMORAN STRIKE - raced wide early.
Race 9   THE FRIENDS OF THE JOHN PAUL II CENTRE FOR LIFE MOBILE PACE
SWEET ESPRESSO - struck the sulky wheel of LONGVIEW TUI after 100m and paced roughly with the horse galloping after breaking the near side hopple loop and was retired from the race. Driver R Close defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly when shifting ground shortly after the start and striking the sulky wheel of LONGVIEW TUI. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Close, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and Mr Close's driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing on 31 August up to and including 11 September 2025 (4 days).
JINX JOHNSON - weakened from the 500m. Driver C Thornley advised the mare had proved difficult to steer.
CANDY CANE - raced greenly and shifted outwards over the concluding stages. Driver R Harrison advised she would be recommending gear changes.
