Race 1   RHRC MEMBERSHIP AVAILABLE 2025/26 MOBILE PACE
MOTOR MOUTH - unsuccessfully challenged for the lead in the early stages. Weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards questioned driver W Frost regarding the tactics he adopted in the early stages and after hearing his explanation issued a charge under Rule 868(2) in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure his runner was given full opportunity to win the race or obtain the best possible finishing place by persisting with a challenge for the lead over the initial 600m resulting in his horse weakening. Mr Frost admitted the charge and after viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Frost's Amateur Driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 24 November 2025 (3 months).
ARCHIE - late scratching at 12.13pm by Order of Stewards due to no driver being available after D Roberts contacted Stewards and notified he was unable to fulfill his engagement. Stewards opened and adjourned an investigation into this matter.
KNOCKSHANBALLY - hung inwards at various stages during the running.
GATECRASHER - trainer T Yesberg was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race with sliding blinds instead of the notified blinds.
Amateur driver D Roberts admitted a breach of Rule 507(1) in that he broke his engagement to drive ARCHIE with the horse having to be scratched. After hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.
Race 2   BARNSY'S ALL TRADE SERVICES PACE
BEAUTIFUL CRAZY - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
SABI SANDS - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
HI LIFE - slow to begin.
Race 3   NORTH CANTERBURY TROTTING TRIALS AT RANGIORA TROT
BRIANNA - weakened near the 500m hampering trailing runners.
ROYAL GYPSY - raced wide early. Driver S Thornley advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
NIGHT LIFE - switched to a pace early in the run home before breaking and losing its chance.
GO HOME DENISE - trotted roughly in the early stages losing ground.
PRINCE TEKA - hampered by a weakening runner near the 500m.
KD GRINS - broke at the start losing ground.
BLUEY - hampered by a weakening runner near the 500m. Held up final bend.
Race 4   RAKERO RACING SUPPORTS RANGIORA HRC PACE
FLYAWAY - broke at the start losing ground. Hung inwards leaving the final bend and in the run home causing driver R Close difficulty.
CHANGEFORTHEBETA - broke at the start losing ground.
DANCE MONKEY - driver R Holmes was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for driving for a distance in the early stages with his foot free of the sulky footrest while using his whip. Mr Holmes was also warned for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion shortly after the start.
JAKE - hung outwards racing into the first bend having to be steadied. Again hung outwards rounding the final bend and late in the run home. Had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight.
GENERAL REBECK - broke at the start losing ground. Over-raced middle stages. Weakened leaving the final bend.
HARRY BELAFONTE - when questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams could offer no explanation and was disappointed with the effort. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
Trainer D Simpson advised Stewards on 25 August that HARRY BELAFONTE has recovered well since its last start and will be freshened prior to resuming.
Race 5   AUTO SELF SERVE WAIMAK JUNCTION & GREYWACKE RD MOB PACE
WOODLEA ROCKS - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1200m.
POISON IVY - paced roughly leaving the final bend having to be steadied.
KAIRAKI VEGAS - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1200m. Lay out rounding the final bend. Briefly crowded by an inside runner near the 200m when weakening.
TIPSTAR - weakened early in the run home.
SMOKING ASHES - shied at the stationary KATYS SHADOW positioned on the outside of the track near the 1200m and raced greenly resulting in an easing of the pace with trailing runners being hampered.
KATYS SHADOW - refused to score up taking no part in the race and then was unable to be moved from the outside of the track for a considerable period of time. Declared a non-runner by Stewards under Rule 213(1)(e) due to unsatisfactory manners prior to the start. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a mobile start prior to resuming.
WILLY AWAY - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1200m.
FEAR GOGH - over-raced middle stages.
ROCK FERN - over-raced middle stages. Hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1200m. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver R Houghton advised the effort had taken its toll after the gelding failed to settle during the running.
LONGVIEW TUI - driver S Thornley was issued a warning for the manner he drove when shifting ground and crowding an outside runner near the 200m.
Race 6   CALL JD AT PROPERTY BROKERS TROT
TACTICAL BID - broke after 100m losing considerable ground. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
DIEDRE FRANCO - held up final bend. Broke near the 200m losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
DIAMOND HARBOUR - trotted roughly in the early stages before breaking losing ground. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
STEELINTHEHEEL - switched to a pace at the start having to be broken up by its driver losing all chance.
KAHNTDOITALONE - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Weakened leaving the final bend. Cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
Race 7   RANGIORA HRC THANKS COUNTRY FEASTS MOBILE PACE
HANOI FRANCO - trainer P Shennan was issued a warning for presenting the mare to race without the notified sliding blinds. Weakened early in the run home.
SHAPELY - weakened leaving the final bend.
MAGICAL MAX - out of position at the start. Driver S Tomlinson was issued a warning. Paced roughly for several strides near the 1600m after a slight easing of the pace.
Race 8   PADDY McDADDY HORSE OF THE YEAR TROT
SANDFLY BAY - trotted roughly late in the run home. When questioned regarding the improved performance driver S Tomlinson advised the mare had benefited from having its knees treated as previously notified and a change of shoeing since last racing.
GRANNY ROSE - connections advised the gelding has had a fetlock treated since last racing.
MILLIE LET LOOSE - held up early in the run home.
DESBOIS - trotted roughly in the run home.
Race 9   CHRISTMAS AT THE RACES SUNDAY 14 DECEMBER MOBILE PACE
REGGIE GOLIGHTLY - over-raced middle stages when leading. Weakened final bend hampering trailing runners. A post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination revealed no abnormalities.
LILY'S A STAR - hampered by a weakening runner final bend. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
PARTNERS IN WINE - hampered by a weakening runner final bend. Weakened in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver S Hill advised he had been disappointed with the effort however expected the mare to derive benefit from the race which was its first start for several weeks.
STUBING - paced roughly in the run home.
SHADOW CREEK - held up final bend and early in the run home. Driver R Holmes was issued a warning for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
BRONSKI - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
BELMONT VALOR - hampered by a weakening runner final bend. Held up for clear racing room in the run home. Driver G Thornley advised she did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
WHYAMIHERE - hung inwards final bend and in the run home. Cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.
