| Trainer N Williamson advised Stewards on 1 August that RISE UP N DANCE was treated for stomach ulcers following its last start and has been working well in preparation for racing at the Winton HRC meeting on Sunday. Mr Williamson added that given it was the gelding's first start back from a spell, it was his intention to drive the horse for one run if circumstances permit. |

| MIKI FLYBYE - raced wide from the 900m. Weakened final bend. Paced roughly leaving the final bend and was eased down by driver T Williams with the gelding faltering shortly after the finish line. Immediately attended to by the on course Veterinarian and transported from the track in the Horse Ambulance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a fractured sesamoid in the right front fetlock with the gelding being treated prior to being transported in the Horse Ambulance to the Rangiora Veterinary Clinic. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. | |

| A false start was declared when LONGVIEW TUI broke in the score up and shifted inwards checking DIDJAMAKEANIMPRINT and SMOKING ASHES. A warning was placed on the barrier record of LONGVIEW TUI. Driver S Thornley elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart. DIDJAMAKEANIMPRINT underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to take part in the restart. | |
| DIDJAMAKEANIMPRINT broke shortly after the restart and shifted inwards abruptly severely checking SMOKING ASHES resulting in driver R Harrison being dislodged from the sulky with the gelding escaping driverless before being recaptured. Stewards stopped the race after 200m pursuant to Rule 211A(1) due to safety concerns. As the field had only gone a short distance the race was eligible to be re-run with all horses undergoing Veterinary examinations and being cleared to start in the re-run with the exception of SMOKING ASHES which was declared a late scratching by Order of Stewards. DIDJAMAKEANIMPRINT was sent to the unruly position by the Starter where the gelding will remain for future mobile starts. Driver R Harrison was examined by St John personnel and cleared of injury. | |
