After winning at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club meeting on 25 July 2025, ORIGIN was permitted to start from its originally allocated barrier position pursuant to Programming Regulations 17.4(c) in conjunction with an authorised late driver change to driver M Holbrough.

Race 1   BETAVET HERBAZOLE AMATEUR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
ARCHIE - raced wide early. Checked when sulky contacted by LOVEYOURMOTHER which was attempting to shift outwards near the 750m with driver W Frost being unbalanced in the sulky losing ground.
WARLOCH - raced wide early. Shifted outwards in the run home. Driver M House defended a breach of Rule 869(4) and the Home Straight Regulations in that he failed to maintain a straight course in the run home resulting in DON JUAN being hampered. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr House the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge.
LOVEYOURMOTHER - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver C Wigg. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced middle stages. Placed in restricted room for a distance passing the 900m before making heavy contact with the sulky of ARCHIE before breaking and falling to the track near the 750m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Ms Wigg admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly when attempting to shift ARCHIE wider when not in a position to do so resulting in her horse being checked and falling. After viewing the replays and hearing /submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Ms Wigg's Amateur driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 27 November 2025 (4 months).
DON JUAN - hampered in the run home when inside and outside runners shifted ground resulting in the gelding being held up.
MACK PACK - shifted inwards in the run home. Driver M Maynard admitted a breach of Rule 869(4) and the Home Straight Regulations in that he failed to maintain a straight course in the run home resulting in DON JUAN being hampered. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Maynard's Amateur driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 27 August 2025 (1 month).

KINGAROY - trotted roughly in the run home.
RUTHLESS EMMA - broke after 150m hampering trailing runners losing ground.
ROCKY IN PARADISE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance and was retired from the race.
PHANTOM SPUR - hampered by a breaking runner after 150m. Broke near the 1050m hampering trailing runners losing ground. Broke again rounding the final bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.

SUPERFAST LADY - hampered by a breaking runner after 150m. Again hampered by a breaking runner near the 1050m. Weakened from the 800m. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.

Race 3   BETAVET PROTECT MOBILE PACE
STAR ON THE ROCKS - crowded by an outside runner and shifted into the passing lane late in the run home placing a trailing runner in restricted room. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards had spoken to drivers S Thornley (STAR ON THE ROCKS) and J Young-Grant (VERDUCCI) placed 6th and were satisfied that Mr Thornley's horse had shifted inwards as a result of being crowded. After viewing the replays Mrs Young-Grant elected not to proceed with a protest with placings being duly authorised.
VERDUCCI - held up for clear racing room in the passing lane late in the run home when outside runners shifted inwards.
ASSISI LOVER - raced wide early.
BRITE LEDGER - held up late in the run home.
SWEET GUINESS - lay inwards in the run home crowding inside runners despite the efforts of driver G Thornley. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 4   BETAVET ALLER-GEN PACE
COOL LUCY - broke near the 250m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
RILEY JOHN - lay inwards rounding the final bend. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the middle stages of the run home.
Race 5   BETAVET REGUMARE MOBILE TROT
SOLEMN SON - trotted roughly at various stages throughout.
BONJOUR PARIS - lay inwards and trotted roughly leaving the final bend. Driver J Thomas was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
PEAKNMONKEY - broke in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
SEE NO EVIL - hung outwards and trotted roughly in the score up and was back from the unruly position at the start. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Cox advised he was disappointed with the effort. Co-trainer T White advised the filly would be freshened and returned to the trials before resuming.
Race 6   BETAVET ECHINACEA MOBILE PACE
IRISH DREAM - fractious prior to the start requiring assistance from a Starting Attendant. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Paced roughly shortly after the start losing ground.
PARTNERS IN WINE - raced wide early. Driver S Hill was issued a warning for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
BETTERTHANDIVA - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field near the 1400m. Weakened from the 800m. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare. Driver L Dobbs was issued a warning for using his whip on a runner out of contention in the run home.
WHYAMIHERE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver R May. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Held up for clear racing room in the run home. Driver R May advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
LA CONCHA - hung outwards throughout the run home causing driver C Dalgety difficulty utilising the passing lane with the gelding being held up over the concluding stages.
KELTIC TIGER - lay inwards at various stages causing driver M Williamson difficulty.
Race 7   BETAVET HEMOHALT HANDICAP PACE
The start was delayed due to CHEEKY RED becoming fractious. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
ARIZONAWILDCAT - broke briefly at the start losing ground.
WOLF OF WALL STREET - lay inwards striking track markers final bend. Driver S Thornley advised he was unable to fully activate the hopple shorteners due to the cord becoming entangled.
MYSTERY BEACH - driver B Orange advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
AMBLESIDE DRIVE - over-raced middle stages. Weakened leaving the final bend hampering a trailing runner.
LONNEKERS - held up by a weakening runner leaving the final bend before breaking losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
SAMVASA - over-raced middle stages.
CHEEKY RED - raced wide early. Lay inwards final bend striking track markers.
Race 8   BETAVET BUILDAGUT MOBILE TROT
MILLIE LET LOOSE - lay outwards in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Again lay outwards in the run home.
MAJOR DOOSIE - trotted roughly in the run home.
SPEEDING SPIRIT - weakened leaving the final bend.
BONNIE BAGRIE - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
FLORENCE THE MACHINE - over-raced early and middle stages. Broke near the 900m losing ground. Weakened leaving the final bend.
Race 9   BETAVET THANKS THEIR STAFF & CLIENTS MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared due to WIND IN THE WIRE ducking its head under the barrier arm in the score up. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver S Thornley elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart.
KALATRA - hampered by a weakening runner near the 500m.
FABRICATE - weakened from the 500m hampering a trailing runner. Driver W House reported he believed the mare had choked down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
IVONA DADIC - over-raced middle stages.
HIT THE BEACH - raced wide early. Driver R Alfeld admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Alfeld's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 3 August 2025 (2 days).
HANOI FRANCO - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Declared a late scratching by Stewards prior to the restart under Rule 213(1)(a) due to having a broken hopple which was unable to be replaced without unreasonable delay. The hopples were inspected and found to be in previously good condition with trainer P Shennan deemed not to be at fault.
WIND IN THE WIRE - raced wide early.
