Race 1   THE LION FOUNDATION PACE
ULTURA - over-raced early and middle stages. Weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled. Stood down for the mandatory 30 days with a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination required prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.
TAKE A CHANCE ON ME - hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
COBA CHARGED - broke at the start losing ground. Raced wide from the 700m. Driver J Morrison advised he had difficulty steering the gelding on several occasions through the running.
JUSTA RIPPA - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a breaking runner after 150m.
MOONLITE CC - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Broke again near the 1300m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
SKY NATURALLY - broke after 150m hampering a trailing runner losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
PACIFIC THUNDER - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
JACK'S EYRE - broke at the start losing ground.
IM ALL IN - over-raced middle stages. Held up late in the run home.
Race 2   MAIN STREET SPORTS BAR, RANGIORA MOBILE TROT
WITHOUT COMPARISON - when questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver J Morrison advised the gelding had raced lethargically and he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Mr Morrison advised he will have blood tests taken from the horse in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
ALDEBARAN CRYSTAL - lay outwards for a distance passing the 700m. Again lay outwards over the concluding stages.
PEAKNMONKEY - hung inwards and lost ground rounding the final bend.
LIME IN A BOTTLE - forced to race wide from the 700m.
Race 3   THE FITZ 2 SPORTS BAR, WALTHAM MOBILE PACE
SIR MONTY - hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
OKIWI BAY - weakened final bend hampering trailing runners. When questioned regarding the performance driver M Williamson advised the mare had worked hard in the early stages to obtain the lead and may be better suited when driven with cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the right front leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
HIT THE BEACH - driver C DeFilippi was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
THE BETTOR MAJOR - out of position at the start.
RAKNRUIN - trainer J Morrison was issued a warning for being late to notify the mare would be racing with removable deafeners. Out of position at the candy pole. Hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
Starter D Gaffaney was spoken to advisedly regarding the speed of the mobile barrier in the score up.
Race 4   CHATS BAR & CAFE, NEW BRIGHTON TROT
PETITE TRIXTON - trotted roughly rounding the first bend. Driver K Butt reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 300m.
THE MERC - slow to begin losing ground. Broke near the 300m after striking the sulky wheel of PETITE TRIXTON losing its chance. Junior driver K Bublitz (assisted by M Williamson) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when shifting ground near the 300m and allowing his runner to strike the sulky wheel of PETITE TRIXTON which punctured. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.
Race 5   THE BROOK BAR & EATERY, RANGIORA MOBILE PACE
THE BEACH HOUSE - held up early in the run home.
SPEED WRITER - late scratching at 10.25am on Veterinary advice. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 6   THE YALDHURST HOTEL SILK ROAD WINTER SERIES FINAL (MOB TROT)
LOVE WALKED IN - raced wide early.
FREYA - raced wide early.
ASPIRATIONAL DREAM - over-raced middle stages.
MAJESDIX - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
HOLLY HIGHLANDER - raced wide early. Raced wide from the 700m.
WHO'S QUEEN - pre-race warmed.
Race 7   LESLEY MCKENZIE MEMORIAL PACE
NORMIE STEAD - broke at the start losing ground. Paced roughly early in the run home.
STUBING - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
ALMIGHTY CLEVER - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
DANCE MONKEY - forced to race wide from the 800m.
MANDALA - cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
Race 8   KLARISSE SAGUN-RAY WHITE LICENCED REAL ESTATE AGENT MOB PACE
APATCHOFGOLD - over-raced middle stages.
BETTERTHANDIVA - raced wide early.
GATECRASHER - weakened from the 600m. When questioned regarding the performance driver H Douglas advised the gelding had travelled well however was under pressure from the 700m and he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
ANN SOPHIE - when questioned regarding the improved performance driver W House advised the mare has been freshened since its last start and had been racing without luck. Mr House added the horse races best when saved for one run.
PENNY WEIGHT - weakened final bend.
A BETTER JACKALACK - cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.
FLYING FOR ME - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
