Race 1   METHVEN RESORT & OPUKE HOT POOLS TROT
A false start was declared when A QUIET GIRL shifted in checking INQUIZITIVE MAN prior to the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Driver S Iremonger elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart.
There was a further delay to the start when the Starter was not satisfied with the manner in which the field addressed the barriers with all runners being turned out of line.
A QUIET GIRL - slow to begin. Broke near the 1100m hampering a trailing runner losing all chance.
REGAL SPIRIT - fractious prior to the restart. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts. Broke rounding the first bend losing ground. Over-raced middle stages. Weakened leaving the final bend.
GOLDEN SOLITAIRE - broke near the 900m losing ground. Broke again near the 600m losing all chance.
CALMBEFORETHESTORM - broke racing into the first bend losing all chance.
RONDO TROUBLE - held up early in the run home.
A REASON TO FIGHT - raced wide early.

Trainer D Iremonger advised Stewards on 16 April that A QUIET GIRL has been treated for muscle soreness since last racing.

GIMMESOMELOVIN - over-raced middle stages. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
ASSISI LOVER - co-trainers R & J Dunn were issued a warning for being late to present the mare on course.
GIRL'S NIGHT OUT - raced wide early. Driver R Holmes reported a sulky tyre deflated rounding the first bend.
WESTBURN ABBY - trainer I Court was issued a warning for being late to present the mare on course. Weakened in the run home.
THE TOWN OF LIGHT - out of position at the start. Driver S Clarke was issued a warning. Mr Clarke reported the gelding had cast the off front shoe prior to the start.

Race 3   MID-CANTERBURY OWNERS TRAINERS ASSOCIATION PACE
WAIKAKA - required assistance from a Starting Attendant prior to the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hung outwards throughout the run home and shifted up the track. A warning was also placed on the racing record of the gelding. Driver C Thornley advised he had steering difficulties and would be recommending gear changes prior to racing next.
HUGHES TWO ME - lay inwards and struck track markers near the 1200m.
BETTOR FEAR ME - broke at the start losing ground.
CARLIN - weakened in the run home.
MANDALA - broke briefly at the start and again in the early stages losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
MIDNIGHT SOPHIA - broke at the start losing ground.
FLOOZY SUZY - weakened in the run home.
KUSHITE WARRIOR - lay inwards and struck track markers near the 1200m. Held up early in the run home.

Race 4   SHEARMAC ALUMINUM LTD (INVITED DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
KOWHAI NUGGET - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. Shifted outwards near the 100m checking an outside runner. Junior driver C Hackett (assisted by R Close) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly when shifting ground when insufficiently clear of ANYTIME AT ALL which was checked. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Hackett's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 15 April up to and including 22 April 2025 (3 days).

TREMENDOUS SENSATION - over-raced middle stages.

TONY MAC - co-trainers G & B Hope were issued a warning for being late to notify the gelding would be racing with blinds instead of the notified pacifier. Weakened early in the run home.
MILES AWAY - slow to begin. Raced four wide from the 1000m. Weakened early in the run home.
DIAMOND HARBOUR - the undercheck was removed prior to the start after breaking. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
TESSAMAE - broke briefly near the 1800m. Weakened early in the run home.
SPEEDING SPIRIT - held up early in the run home.
BRIAN BEATT - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
SWITCH ON - raced four wide for a distance passing the 1100m. Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule where it was established that SWITCH ON had been racing wider on the track near the 1100m and had not been forced outwards by DIAMOND HARBOUR which had improved to its inner. Broke rounding the final bend losing all chance.
Race 6   ADVANCED JOINERY LTD (INVITED DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
JUST ASK PADDY - held up early in the run home.
THE NEXT BEST THING - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver K Butt. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
DARE DEVIL - over-raced middle stages.
AVENGER - held up early in the run home.
GLADYS GREENLAND - over-raced early stages.
SCARLETT'S LEGACY - over-raced middle stages. Held up for the majority of the run home. Driver S Tomlinson advised she did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
JUSTA TERRA - out of position at the start. Driver T Herlihy was issued a warning. Weakened in the run home.

WHO'S YOUR DRAGON - weakened early in the run home.
TEDDY THE TERROR - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.

KASARANI - checked by an outside runner after 100m losing ground. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.

PURE COURAGE - broke shortly after the start and shifted inwards checking an inside runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.

VERMEER LUSTRE - shifted inwards at the start checking an inside runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 8   THE PHAT DUCK BREW BAR & KITCHEN (INVITED DRIVERS) MOB PACE
A false start was declared when TACT TEENA broke in the score up checking a trailing runner with the overcheck on TACT TEENA breaking. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Driver C Hackett elected to remain in her allocated barrier position for the restart.
MOUTON CADET - hung inwards and broke when improving wide passing the 1200m hampering a trailing runner losing ground. Held up rounding the final bend.
TROUBLESHOOTER - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
DAVE DULEY - held up by a weakening runner final bend. Again held up early in the run home.
BREENY'S CONQUEROR - required assistance from the Clerk of the Course prior to the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
STEPHS BOY - over-raced middle stages. Raced wide from the 900m. Weakened early in the run home.
A BETTER JACKALACK - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1200m. Weakened leaving the final bend hampering a trailing runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Trainer S Thornley advised he would have blood tests taken from the gelding in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
Trainer S Thornley advised Stewards on 19 April that A BETTER JACKALACK has been treated for a virus since last racing.
Race 9   DOUG McCORMICK MEMORIAL (INVITED DRIVERS) TROT
SWIFT DREAM - held up early in the run home.
LOTUS FRANCO - broke at the start losing all chance.
DARK GHANA - held up early in the run home.
MAJESDIX - over-raced middle stages. Broke passing the 500m losing all chance.
PYRAMID ROSE - trotted roughly passing the 1600m after striking the sulky wheel of ANNROSE. Driver C Hackett was issued a warning.
Race 10   THE BROWN PUB METHVEN MOUNT HUTT TC CUP (HCP PACE)
The start was delayed due to KOURTNEY KARDASH becoming fractious. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
LIGHT ME UP - broke at the start losing ground. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
TEDS LEGACY - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 2000m. Held up throughout the run home.
BLUE ROCK DANCER - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
HERE'S HERBIE - raced wide early. When questioned regarding the improved performance co-trainer/driver C DeFilippi advised the gelding had been suited by being able to lead and dictate terms throughout.
HACKSAW RIDGE - broke briefly at the start. Raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 2200m. Weakened from the 1500m hampering a trailing runner and was retired from the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.
COMMANDER BEN - over-raced middle stages. Held up throughout the run home.
WOODBINE ROCKS - hampered by a weakening runner near the 1500m.
ROCK OR BUST - held up early in the run home. Driver T Williams reported only one removable deafener had activated due to the cord breaking. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Williams advised he was not disappointed given the gelding was racing up in grade from previous starts and it was the horse's first start on a grass track.
STILL ROCKIN - broke at the start losing ground.
HOMEBUSH LAD - held up early in the run home. Struck a track marker near the 200m when attempting a marginal run. Driver B Hope was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice.
BRYCE'S MEDDLE - lay inwards rounding the first bend striking several track markers.
Race 11   LATHER UP 'LITTLE GREEN JUG' MOBILE PACE
CRUSHER LOU - late scratching at 2.32pm on Veterinary advice.
MIKI B - raced wide early. Held up early in the run home.
SACETAS - raced wide early.
STRIKEM - when questioned regarding the performance driver S Ottley advised that after starting from a wide draw the gelding had difficulty making ground from the rear of the field due to the strong tempo of the race throughout.
C C ARDEN - held up early in the run home. Driver T Williams advised the removable deafeners failed to activate due to the cord breaking.
Race 12   CARRFIELD GRAIN & SEED CANTY PLAINS CHALLENGE (HT1) MOB PACE
SWEET GLORY - held up early in the run home.
RAZORS EDGE - hung outwards in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide early.
COURAGE REACTOR - held up early in the run home.
RAPID RESPONSE - out of position at the start. Driver T Chmiel was issued a warning.
NORMIE STEAD - lay inwards final bend and struck a track marker.
LOGAN ROCK - lay in and struck a track marker near the 1200m. Over-raced middle stages. Paced roughly early in the run home. Driver R Close admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when anticipating a run between COURAGE REACTOR and HEY TONIGHT early in the run home resulting in his horse contacting the wheel of COURAGE REACTOR and pacing roughly as a consequence. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Close's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 15 April up to and including 21 April 2025 (3 days).
