Race 1   TRACKSIDE DINING AVAILABLE 30TH AUGUST MOBILE PACE
REGGIE GOLIGHTLY - connections advised Stewards the gelding has been treated for a liver complaint and had its hocks treated since last racing. Lay inwards rounding the final bend striking track markers.
PALATABLE - over-raced middle stages.
FUSION REACTOR - lay inwards and struck a track marker rounding the final bend.
SIR MONTY - lay inwards rounding the final bend striking track markers.
TABASCO - junior driver K Tomlinson, who declined assistance from a Senior driver, admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that she used her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.
SKY ROCKET - paced roughly in the middle stages of the run home.
Race 2   ROAD METALS MOBILE TROT
MAJOR CYCLONE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver O Thornley. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Trotted roughly in the early and middle stages of the run home when held up for clear racing room.
HABIBTI PAT - lay outwards after 150m briefly crowding an outside runner.
KISS ME KATE - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Broke again near the 850m losing all chance.
ZSAZSA BINX - briefly crowded after 150m by an inside runner.
MUSCLE DASH - trotted roughly early. Weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised he was disappointed with the effort of the gelding despite having to work hard through the middle stages to obtain the parked position. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
VIVA LA VIDA - hung outwards in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
RIDGE - raced greenly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Hung inwards final bend.
WATERLOO STATION - held up leaving the final bend and contacted the sulky of MUSCLE DASH which was weakening and broke losing all chance. Driver S Whatuira admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly in this incident and after hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Whatuira's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 30 August 2024 (3 days). A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
CYCLONE ZION W - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Trotted roughly in the score up and was back from the unruly position at the start. Switched to a pace near the 1200m and had to be broken up by driver B Butt losing all chance. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Butt advised the gelding had objected to the track grit kickback and he would be making gear changes.
Race 3   BRECKON FARMS MOBILE PACE
THE BETTOR DEAL - driver M Purdon was warned to make a greater effort to ensure he does not allow his runner to shift into the passing lane late in the run home.
SPIRIT DOWNUNDER - raced greenly near the 450m. Weakened leaving the final bend.
LOUIE MASSIMO - paced roughly rounding the first bend. Raced greenly near the 1100m. Weakened final bend.
RYLEE MAGUIRE - weakened final bend before racing inside track markers near the 300m. Driver T Chmiel was issued with a warning.
SACETAS - raced greenly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced middle stages. Held up final bend.
Race 4   SORTED LOGISTICS LIMITED MOBILE TROT
HIGH NOON - trotted roughly before breaking shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
IMPERIAL COMMAND - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
RACHMANINOV - driver T Grant reported he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
THE FOX - weakened over the concluding stages and knuckled over shortly before the finish line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S Tomlinson. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
Race 5   ADDINGTON CUP WEEK PACKAGES ON SALE NOW MOBILE PACE
QUICKER THAN QUICK - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver B Butt. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
ONEROA - paced roughly final bend.
ITZ FLASH HARRY - driver J Dunn reported the removable deafeners failed to fully activate due to the cord becoming entangled.
INTERRORGATOR - raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages.
SWEET WILLOW - held up final bend and early in the run home. Cast a shoe near the 100m.
Race 6   LATHER UP A DUAL WORLD CHAMPION FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
KALATRA - trainer K Barron was issued a warning for being late to notify the mare would be racing without the notified anti choke device. Weakened final bend.
ADORED DREAMER - blundered when being eased down following the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the right hind leg and was treated by the Veterinarian for a suspected fracture before being transported in the Horse Ambulance to the Rangiora Veterinary Clinic. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Stewards questioned driver T Williams in accordance with Rule 872A in relation to the horse being driven by him from the track to the stabling area at the conclusion of the race. After considering his explanation, Stewards took the matter no further.
DANCING DESIRE - raced wide early.
LAKELSA - hung outwards rounding the final bend and throughout the run home. Driver R Close advised he would be recommending gear changes. Notwithstanding this Mr Close was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home. Mr Close was also warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
Race 7   SHOW DAY SLOT RACES ON SALE NOW MOBILE PACE
WARLOCH - over-raced middle stages.
MOLLY BELWIN - lay inwards throughout the run home causing driver T Williams some difficulty.
MR KAPLAN - lay inwards when held up for clear racing room early in the run home.
Race 8   LAMB & HAYWARD MOBILE TROT
ONE OVER DA LINE - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home and trotted roughly passing the 150m. Broke late in the run home and continued on in a break across the finish line. Stewards lodged a protest against 3rd placing being awarded under Rule 870(5) alleging the gelding was lapped on at the finish by CLYDE, PAIGE and MAVIS JONES. After viewing the replays driver J Dunn did not contest the protest and ONE OVER DA LINE was relegated to 6th placing by the Stewards.
THE BLOSS - over-raced when being restrained to obtain cover in the early stages.
HERE COMES JANE - raced wide early. Broke near the 100m losing all chance.
VERTIGO - held up late in the run home.
SIMONE LINDENNY - over-raced middle stages. Lay outwards rounding the final bend causing driver K Tomlinson some difficulty.
Race 9   FAHEY FENCE HIRE MOBILE PACE
HILDA MAUD - held up early in the run home. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer A Washington advised the mare had been racing without luck in recent starts and had received an economical run throughout. Driver R Close was issued a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home with the hearing being adjourned to the NZ Metropolitan TC meeting on 23 August due to Mr Close having left the course.
WRIGGLES RUFUS - hampered by a weakening runner near the 600m. Struck the sulky wheel of OPO and raced inside several track markers near the 150m when racing in restricted room losing ground. Stewards questioned drivers B Orange (JAZZY STYX), T Chmiel (U R THE ONE), J Dunn (OPO) and W House (WRIGGLES RUFUS) regarding this incident before adjourning the matter for further consideration.
OPO - shifted inwards near the 150m when briefly crowded by an outside runner.
U R THE ONE - shifted in marginally early in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Chmiel advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. Mr Chmiel was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion leaving the final bend.
JAZZY STYX - held up early in the run home and shifted inwards marginally.
ROSIE RICHTER - weakened from the 600m hampering trailing runners. When questioned regarding the performance driver S Ottley advised the mare had been unsuited to racing parked in the early and middle stages however she was disappointed with the mare's effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
KING ARTHUR - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 600m. Driver A Cameron will be spoken to in the coming days regarding the manner she drove passing the 600m when electing not to shift wider on the track when an opportunity existed resulting in her horse losing ground behind a weakening runner.
Race 10   GOLD BAND TAXIS MOBILE PACE
MOET SHARD - raced ungenerously when improving to the lead passing the 2100m. Driver L Whittaker was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion near the 2100m and again on one occasion in the run home. Mr Whittaker was also issued a $200 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to activate the hopple shorteners.
SANTANNA MACH - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver W House. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
BIG MAMA MORRIS - hung inwards in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
