Race 1   CHERSTEY TROTTING CLUB TROT
KNOWING ME - held up in the run home. Driver R May advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
AROHA - broke at the start losing ground. Trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
SOLEMN SON - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
SHEILA LAXON - lay outwards leaving the final bend and in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance co-trainer B White advised the filly had worked too hard through the middle stages and may be better suited to being driven with cover in future.
PENELOPE HALL - raced wide early.
ORIGIN - broke late in the run home.
PLAYOFFS - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Broke again near the 1700m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
KOKO KABOOM - broke after 100m losing all chance.
CLOVELLY HILL - broke briefly at the start. Over-raced early and middle stages.
Race 2   ASHBURTON U HIRE MOBILE PACE
WISHFUL THINKING - broke late in the score up hampering a trailing runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
LOU WILL - over-raced early and middle stages.
TAKE THE DEAL - slow in the initial stages of the score up and briefly hampered by a breaking runner late in the score up.
Race 3   DOUG COLEY FLOORING (FILLIES & MARES) MOBILE PACE
ARDEN'S MEMORY - the required veterinary clearance was received.
WOODLEA DIAMOND - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
GIVE ME PEACE - paced roughly in the early and middle stages. Weakened leaving the final bend and shied and broke late in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance trainer M Purvis advised he would be making gear changes and returning the filly to the trials prior to resuming.
Race 4   STRAPPERS SYNDICATE TROT
BRIANNA - struck a track marker leaving the final bend. Driver G Smith was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice.
GINAS MAJESTY - shifted inwards near the 1300m simultaneously to KING OF DIAMONDS progressing forward and then hung inwards placing KING OF DIAMONDS in restricted room briefly. Returned to the assembly area with a small amount of blood present in a nostril. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed the mare was not a bleeder.
KING OF DIAMONDS - broke briefly at the start. Briefly crowded near the 1300m by an outside runner and struck a track marker. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
ABACARDI HAZEL - broke after 100m losing ground.
Race 5   LES & THE HUNTERS MOBILE PACE
BIG MAMA MORRIS - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1200m. Returned to the assembly area with blood present in a nostril. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed the mare was not a bleeder.
VERLANDER - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1200m.
ONELOVEONELIFE - weakened in the run home.
GOTTA ELECT BILL - attempted to pull up near the 1200m when leading resulting in an easing of the pace hampering trailing runners. A protest was lodged against 1st placing being awarded under Rule 869(7B) alleging the gelding had gained an advantage by racing inside the final track marker prior to the passing lane. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and driver W House the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the protest. Mr House was issued a warning for allowing his horse to race inside a track marker.
DON JUAN - held up early in the run home.
Race 6   WHITE RACING/FOOTHILLS SHEARING HANDICAP PACE
HILDA MAUD - broke at the start losing ground.
KENNEDY - held up early in the run home.
WATERHOLES ROAD - broke at the start losing ground.
KEEPING IT KIWI - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Awkwardly placed close to the sulky of WATERHOLES ROAD near the 400m having to be steadied.
VINRULES - raced wide early.
TEN DA TOUCH - paced roughly final bend.
FOURTH AMENDMENT - held up early in the run home.
Race 7   FULTON HOGAN LTD MOBILE TROT
The start was delayed due to the track requiring attention near the 450m.
TO HILL AND BACK - broke in the score up losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
LOVE POTION - weakened rounding the final bend hampering a trailing runner.
NOAH MAGNIFIC - hampered by a weakening runner final bend. Broke over the concluding stages.
MOONDANCE - slow to leave the pre-race formation and was several lengths back and in the incorrect position when drawn on the unruly after hanging inwards late in the score up. Authorisation of placings was withheld until Stewards were satisfied no advantage had been gained by the horse starting from the incorrect barrier position. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
BEAT THE COVID - late scratching at 3.47pm on veterinary advice after falling in the birdcage. A veterinary examination revealed grazing on the left knee and lameness in the left hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
KD ROYALTY - trotted roughly over the concluding stages. Driver G O'Reilly will be spoken to in the coming days for the manner he drove near the 1100m.
Race 8   GARY McCORMICK TRANSPORT MOBILE PACE
THE BETTOR MAJOR - broke as the start was effected hampering a trailing runner losing all chance and was retired from the race. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
PHONE TAP - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Over-raced early stages. Weakened final bend. Returned to the assembly area with blood present in a nostril. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed the mare was not a bleeder.
FLO MOTION - raced wide early.
AVENGER - held up throughout the run home. Stewards questioned driver W House regarding his decision to shift inwards near the 600m. Mr House explained that at the time he shifted inwards ALMIGHTY CLEVER which he was trailing was under pressure and believed it was his best option to shift inwards in an attempt to save ground instead of being forced to race wider. After considering Mr House's explanation and viewing the replays, Stewards were satisfied his decision at the time was not unreasonable and took the matter no further.
SPIRITED LOU - held up early in the run home.
COURAGE REACTOR - hampered by a breaking runner at the start.
