Race 1   BETAVET PREPARE (AMATEUR DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
MOUTON CADET - fractious prior to the start requiring assistance from a Starting Attendant. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
HES SANTAS EXCUSE - shifted out rounding the final bend when driver W Frost was activating gear hampering an outside runner. Mr Frost was issued a warning for his lack of control at this stage. Broke early in the run home losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
VRILO - over-raced early and middle stages.
KNOCKSHANBALLY - raced wide early.
OFF THE EDGE - hampered and forced wider by an inside runner rounding the final bend. Stewards questioned driver A Edge regarding the tactics he adopted in the early stages when electing to shift inwards to race on the marker line. Mr Edge explained that the horse had previously disappointed when racing in the parked position so he elected to shift inwards to obtain cover.
PRIDES CONTESSA - paced roughly in the score up and was back from the unruly position at the start. Driver A Beecroft was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
Race 2   BETAVET ALLER-GEN TROT
BULLIT TRAIN - pre-raced warmed.
RUSH - trotted roughly in the run home.
DD'S SUPER STUART - trotted roughly through the middle stages.
MAXWELL EDISON - slow in the early stages. Broke near the 700m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
RACEY KRUSA - checked and broke near the 1000m losing all chance and was retired from the race.
CAPPAHA - broke near the 1000m checking a trailing runner losing ground. Driver R Holmes reported he sustained a punctured sulky tyre in consequence. Mr Holmes was issued a $200 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to take his runner clear of the field when in a break.
Race 3   BETAVET ECHINACEA MOBILE PACE
TERROR MA SUE - hampered by a weakening runner near the 600m.
THE GOLDEN SKIPPER - weakened near the 600m hampering trailing runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
HANOI FRANCO - hampered by a weakening runner near the 600m.
WISHFUL THINKING - hampered by a weakening runner near the 600m. Hung inwards throughout the run home.
WHOSDREAMINGNOW - raced wide early.
AMBLESIDE DRIVE - over-raced middle stages.
Race 4   BETAVET HEMOHAULT MOBILE TROT
THE BLOSS - crowded by an outside runner racing into the first bend. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer B Borcoskie advised the mare had benefited from a drop back in class from recent races.
THE FOX - hung inwards racing into the first bend crowding an inside runner.
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - held up final bend.
MOONDANCE - late scratching at 9.40am due to trainer M Purvis being unwell.
BEAT THE COVID - weakened leaving the final bend.
Race 5   BETAVET REGUMARE FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
IVONA DADIC - raced wide early. Hung inwards rounding the bends.
HAPPY HARPER - weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance trainer J Howe advised the filly was not suited by having to work hard through the middle stages with the effort taking its toll. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Mr Howe advised he will have blood tests taken from the filly in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
Race 6   BETAVET HERBAZOLE FILLIES & MARES TROT
QUIK SHARNIE - hung inwards and trotted roughly at various stages.
LIVING THE MOMENT - late scratching at 9.40am due to trainer M Purvis being unwell.
PARAMOUNT LADY - began awkwardly.
Race 7   BETAVET BUILDABONE & PROTECT PACE
LADY VINCENT - broke at the start losing ground. Held up final bend and had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
TAKE THE DEAL - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Broke after 100m losing ground. Over-raced middle stages causing driver J Dunn some difficulty.
TURBO FLO - broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Weakened from the 500m.
SWEETAZZ - broke briefly at the start. Checked and broke again after 100m losing all chance.
CHRISTIAN BALE - broke shortly after the start checking a trailing runner losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
MEMPHIS BLASTER - paced roughly in the run home. Driver S Ottley advised she did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
HOLLY K - raced wide early. Hung inwards rounding the final bend when weakening and in the run home.
FRANCO SHERIFF - held up final bend.
CHEDAR - weakened final bend.
GREETS - over-raced middle stages. Became awkwardly placed to the inside of FRANCO SHERIFF passing the 500m. Held up early in the run home.
Race 8   BETAVET THANKS THEIR STAFF & CLIENTS MOBILE PACE
BONO BROWN - crowded by an outside runner and contacted a track marker rounding the final bend.
FORD RULE - hung inwards and paced roughly rounding the final bend.
SIR MONTY - when questioned regarding the improved performance the connections advised the gelding had been suited by a better barrier draw and received an economical run.
BIG MAMA MORRIS - hung inwards rounding the final bend causing driver S Tomlinson some difficulty.
IGETAKICKOUTOFYOU - late scratching at 9.40am due to trainer M Purvis being unwell.
CAPTAIN KOBE - raced wide early. Weakened final bend hampering trailing runners. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn was unable to provide any explanation and was very disappointed with the gelding's effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
SPIRITED LOU - held up by a weakening runner final bend. Paced roughly near the 125m. Driver K Butt advised she did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
STAR MAGIC - held up by a weakening runner final bend. Broke late in the run home and continued in a break across the finish line. Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(5) alleging the gelding was lapped on at the finish by U R THE ONE and BIG MAMA MORRIS. The connections did not contest the protest and STAR MAGIC was relegated to 6th placing.
