The connections did not contest the protest and DANCING GLENIS was disqualified by the Stewards. Junior driver H Douglas (assisted by B Williamson) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(a) in that he drove incompetently by allowing DANCING GLENIS to pace for the majority of the race after breaking at the start. Mr May advised the gelding had hung inwards and paced roughly rounding the first bend and again on the bend near the 900m with the horse losing ground. Mr May added he felt his best option was to shift inwards and save ground rather than remain in the running line and attempt to improve wide on the final bend given the horse was under pressure to maintain its position at that time and had been hanging inwards on the bends.
