Co-trainer B White advised Stewards on 26 June blood tests taken from FRANCO MESSI had revealed no abnormalities, adding the gelding will be given a brief freshen up before resuming its preparation.

Race 1   MARSHALL INDUSTRIES FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
RAKAROMPA - held up final bend.
LIBBIE QWANTERROS - weakened leaving the final bend.
DELIGHTNJOY - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts at the request of trainer C Barron.
AUTUMN BELLE - lay in at various stages of the run home having to be straightened by driver M Williamson. Mr Williamson advised he did not release the removable deafeners in consequence.
BUBBLE ME - raced greenly when being restrained to take cover near the 1100m. Lay in at various stages of the run home having to be straightened by driver B Barclay.
AQUILA - paced roughly passing the 1100m due to an easing of the pace.
CATHY FREEMAN - when asked to comment on the performance driver S Ottley advised she was disappointed and could offer no explanation.
Race 2   PARAMOUNT MOTEL HANDICAP TROT
STELLA BAY - raced wide for a distance through the middle stages. Lay in throughout the run home.
PYRAMID ROSE - broke at the start losing ground.
DANCING GLENIS - raced wide in the early stages. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance driver J Cox advised the mare had been unlucky in a previous start and benefitted from a drop in class today, adding that he was not surprised by the better showing.
Race 3   NEXT RACE DAY THURSDAY 1ST AUGUST MOBILE PACE
HUZUNI - raced greenly and broke briefly passing the 1700m contacting several track markers and hampering a trailing runner, losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Raced three wide with cover from the 1200m. Trainer M Williamson reported he would return the mare to the trials and make gear changes prior to racing next.
GLENKENICK - lay in final bend contacting and dislodging several track markers.
LEDGER'S MAID - raced wide early.
RACIE DALE - raced three wide from the 1300m.
MIKI COHEN - broke shortly after the start when laying out and attempting to buck, causing driver B Orange some difficulty, losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
I'LL BE BACK - trainer B Gray was issued with a warning for failing to notify the horse had been gelded since last racing.
CRUISING FONTANA - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1700m.
Race 4   KERRY HODGES MEMORIAL WINTER REWARDS HANDICAP TROT
BURNING LOVE - broke rounding the first bend losing all chance.
JOY JACCKA - trotted roughly and lay in leaving the final bend.
QUERCUS RUBRA - broke after 100m losing all chance and briefly hampered a trailing runner. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts.
MILES AWAY - raced wide early. Weakened final bend. Driver B Williamson reported the gelding had trotted roughly throughout.
HUCKLEBERRY - trainer B McIntyre was warned for presenting the gelding with removable deafeners and not the notified fixed deafeners. Hampered by a breaking runner entering the first bend. Driver J Cox reported the gelding had hung throughout.
Race 5   REGENT CAR COURT WINTER REWARDS MOBILE PACE
ARLO MAGUIRE - pre-race warmed.
HIT THE LIGHTS - weakened final bend. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to have muscle soreness over the left hind leg and a slow recovery. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Driver B Barclay was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion rounding the final bend.
SLY TRICKS - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 1.46pm when found to have low grade lameness in the left fore leg. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
BOMBAY GLACIER - briefly held up by a weakening runner final bend. Shifted wider on the track abruptly passing the 300m placing an outside runner in restricted room. Driver M Hurrell was warned for the manner he shifted ground at this stage of the race.
BETTER BE WATCHING - raced wide early and over-raced when being restrained to take cover.
MAGIC SIGN - placed in restricted room by an inside runner near the 300m.
LIVY DESMA - briefly hampered near the 300m.
SHEZZA VINNY - held up final bend.
SHERWOOD MAGGIE - lay in at various stages throughout causing driver J Cox some difficulty.
Race 6   RYAL BUSH TRANSPORT MOBILE PACE
BONNIE'S GIRL - paced roughly rounding the final bend losing ground. When asked to comment on the performance trainer/driver N Williamson advised that the filly had commenced to pace roughly passing the 400m and was not persevered with thereafter. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.
SALLY'S PEARL - held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
ULTIMATE CULLECT - raced wide early.
Race 7   SUBWAY WINTON WINTER REWARDS HANDICAP TROT
GALLEONS GRANDSON - weakened rounding the final bend.
GIFT CARD - lay in throughout the run home. Stewards questioned driver S O'Reilly regarding the tactics she adopted during the running in particular when electing to remain in the running line passing the 500m and not shift out to progress forward when the opportunity existed to do so. Miss O'Reilly explained that the gelding has a tendency to hang on the final bend and in her opinion is more competitive when following another horse at this stage of the race so she elected to remain in the running line. Stewards also questioned her apparent lack of vigour over the concluding stages when narrowly beaten into 4th placing. Miss O'Reilly explained that the gelding had come to the end of its run and trotted roughly over the concluding stages when laying in and was unable to be fully driven out as a consequence. Stewards noted Miss O'Reilly's comments.
Race 8   ADVANCE AGRICULTURE LTD WINTER REWARDS MOBILE PACE
WARRIOR EASTON - over-raced middle stages.
CHEZZ DALE - held up final bend.
ARTMORE - broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
GOMA DALE - raced wide early. Paced roughly near the 400m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have mild dehydration however had recovered well.
POUNAMU - over-raced middle stages.
SUMMIT ULTRA - lay in leaving the final bend and early stages of the run home.
ROBYNS HUSTLER - broke in the score up however was in position at the start.
Race 9   STEARNE ROOFING WINTER REWARDS MOBILE PACE
RIGHTAZZ - raced three wide without cover from the 1100m.
SPORTY CHARLIE - hampered by the weakening MATAURA B B from the 600m and struck the sulky wheel of that runner numerous times when placed in restricted room.
MATAURA B B - weakened from the 600m hampering a trailing runner and was retired from the race by driver C Ferguson. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Mr Ferguson reported he had sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running. Notwithstanding this a warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
MR PRESIDENT - raced wide early.
FOXFIRE EASTON - underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Over-raced middle stages.
CEE WHO'S BETTOR - raced three wide with cover from 1050m.
SUPERFAST - raced three wide with cover from 1050m.
DANGEROUS - raced three wide with cover from 1000m.
TERRA SANCTA - raced three wide with cover from 1000m. Shifted in throughout the run home having to be straightened by driver M Williamson.
Race 10   UPPERCUTS BUTCHERY WINTER REWARDS MOBILE PACE
BEACH DAY - raced three wide through the middle stages.
SOUTHSIDE OF HEAVEN - raced three wide with cover from the 1500m then without cover from the 1050m.
MR CASH MAN - raced three wide with cover from the 1500m.
MAGNETIC BECKERS - over-raced at various stages throughout. Lay out and paced roughly on the bend near the 400m.
BROOKIES PLAYER - raced three wide with cover from the 1000m.
