KISS AND RUN - over-raced middle stages. Held up final turn and early stages of the run home. When questioned regarding his decision not to shift out to lead up the running line near the 1200m prior to being covered by LIAISON, Driver P Ferguson stated that the mare had been performing well when driven with cover and saved for one final run so he felt it was his best option to remain on the marker line rather than race without cover. He further explained that after initially looking to shift outwards near the 400m he had steadied and shifted down to follow HALBERG however that runner was losing ground so he shifted back to the outside to attempt to secure clear running which did not eventuate for some distance. Stewards noted Mr Ferguson's comments. |
