Race 1   VOLSTEAD: ONLY 10 NZ BOOKINGS LEFT HANDICAP TROT
ALDEBARAN PIPPI - broke entering the first turn losing all chance.
BARSUKOV - slow to begin. Broke briefly near the 1400m losing ground. Lay in contacting track markers at various stages with several markers being dislodged. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Trainer L Chin advised that he will be making a corrective gear change.
ULTIMATE MOMENT - lay out under pressure in the run home despite the efforts of Driver D Ferguson.
HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL - lay in near the 900m losing ground. Held up over the concluding stages. Driver S Abernethy advised the mare had failed to handle the turns which resulted in him not attempting to improve wide on the final turn.
Race 2   "THE BLUES" SUPER RUGBY CHAMPS - CONGRATULATIONS MOB PACE
CLOUDING OVER - held up late in the run home.
IT'S NAE OR NEVER - lay in contacting a track marker near the 800m.
ALWAYS A PORSCHE - raced wide early.
Race 3   THE ALEX BAR & EATERY HANDICAP TROT
ALDEBARAN D B - lay in at various stages. Held up early stages of the run home.
DOLLY P - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
PANTANI - pre-raced warmed. Driver T Macfarlane reported that he didn't activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
MARO MACKENDON - broke racing into the first turn losing all chance.
TE KOUKA DAWN - slow early. Weakened from the 800m.
BERTHA'S PRIDE - trotted roughly over the early stages and broke near the 1900m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
Race 4   DUNSTAN SPEEDFEED MOBILE PACE
MEDINA MAGIC - weakened from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and that the gelding had lost both front shoes. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
IRISH WHISPERS - broke early stages of the score up but was in position at dispatch. Placed in restricted room near 150m when an inside runner shifted ground and then weakened. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Driver D Butcher admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion on the home turn. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.
OBADIAH DRAGON - held up late in the run home.
BET WEST - shifted outwards placing a runner in restricted room near the 150m. Driver L Hollis was issued with a warning. Mr Hollis was also warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion on the home turn.
Race 5   CLASSIQUE LANDSCAPERS MOBILE PACE
WHOOSHKA - late scratching at 6pm on veterinary advice.
TUGAWAR - paced roughly entering the first turn when being steadied. Commenced to weaken final turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
NELSON'S BOY - broke shortly after the start losing all chance and was retired from the event. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
FIFTH AND FINAL - paced roughly approaching the first turn then broke for several strides losing ground.
MAKO - was taken out three wide to improve near the 1400m but was then restrained after Driver J Abernethy (TUGAWAR) indicated that it was his intention to hold the parked position. Improved forward to secure the position outside the leader near the 800m.
Race 6   REHARVEST HANDICAP TROT
KIMKAR DASH - pre-raced warmed.
HALBERG - trotted roughly and lost ground rounding the final turn. Contacted the final track marker in the run home when attempting to improve to the inside of MATTY A which lay in.
MAGIC DASH - broke at the start losing ground. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
KISS AND RUN - over-raced middle stages. Held up final turn and early stages of the run home. When questioned regarding his decision not to shift out to lead up the running line near the 1200m prior to being covered by LIAISON, Driver P Ferguson stated that the mare had been performing well when driven with cover and saved for one final run so he felt it was his best option to remain on the marker line rather than race without cover. He further explained that after initially looking to shift outwards near the 400m he had steadied and shifted down to follow HALBERG however that runner was losing ground so he shifted back to the outside to attempt to secure clear running which did not eventuate for some distance. Stewards noted Mr Ferguson's comments.
Race 7   COMMERCIAL REALTY PROPERTY MANAGEMENT WINTER CUP HCP PACE
ALWAYS B STUNNING - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners.
BUSLOAD OF FAITH - broke for several strides at the start.
BAD MEDICINE - lay in rounding the final turn losing ground. Lay in again and dislodged the final track marker in the run home. Connections advised that the gelding cast the off fore shoe during the running.
ARTISAN - raced keenly for a distance when being restrained to take a trail racing through the front straight on the first occasion.
COASTAL BABE - broke at the start losing ground.
Race 8   NZB STANDARDBRED MOBILE PACE
THE REVENANT - lay in when weakening rounding the final turn briefly hampering a trailing runner and placed an inside runner in restricted room.
I CAN TOO - raced wide without cover from the 1200m when unable to secure the position outside the leader which was being held by THE REVENANT.
BEV THE GOAT - placed in restricted room final turn by an outside runner and dislodged a track marker.
SUGAR RAY LINCOLN - raced wide with cover from 1200m.
RED RACKHAM - briefly held up by a weakening runner rounding the final turn.
Race 9   BOOK NOW FOR MID-WINTER CHRISTMAS AT ALEX PARK MOB TROT
FIVE O'CLOCK GERRY - held up rounding the final turn.
KEEP IT KLASSY - lay out in the run home having to be straightened by Driver Z Meredith.
TAYLAD TO USE - lay in rounding the first turn.
ILSAS SON - raced wide early.
Top
