HENRY WINKLER - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver J Morrison. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. | |
TRUMP CARD - raced wide early until being restrained to the rear of the field near the 1400m. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home and paced roughly near the 50m. Stewards questioned driver B Orange regarding the tactics he adopted during the running. Mr Orange explained that after attempting to improve forward in the early stages he had been caught wide so he elected to restrain his runner to the rear of the field due to the fast tempo. Mr Orange added that due to the speed of the race not decreasing in the middle stages and with runners in advance of him in the running line not maintaining their positions he elected to shift inwards near the 1200m to save ground. Mr Orange added the gelding had paced roughly at various stages resulting in him having to steady his runner. After considering his explanation Stewards were satisfied his tactics were not unreasonable and took the matter no further. | |
QUICKER THAN QUICK - hung inwards in the run home and paced roughly. | |
KAIRAKI DELIGHT - held up early in the run home. Driver J Dunn reported the gelding had hung inwards badly rounding the final bend and early in the run home resulting in him being unable to shift wider on the track to obtain clear running. Mr Dunn added he would be recommending gear changes prior to the gelding resuming. | |
MAGICIAN - pre-race warmed. | |
PATIRO - held up early in the run home. |
Race 8 HYDROFLOW DISTRIBUTORS LTD MOBILE PACE | |
---|---|
MILLWOOD GODDESS - Stewards questioned driver J Dunn regarding the tactics he adopted in the early stages when HI HOPES was able to shift inwards ahead of his runner. Mr Dunn advised that after initially urging his horse forward with the whip the mare had paced roughly and had hung outwards resulting in him having to steady his horse. After considering Mr Dunn's explanation which was supported by the video replays, Stewards took the matter no further. | |
KRYSTAL DELIGHT - held up early in the run home and again over the concluding stages. Shifted inwards near the 300m and struck the sulky wheel of WOLF OF WALL STREET. Driver B Hope was issued a warning. In taking this course of action Stewards were mindful there had been no consequential effects. | |
ITZ MAGICAL MEG - paced roughly at various stages throughout. Weakened final bend. | |
SOFIA ROSE - over-raced middle stages. | |
SHARDS MATRIX - driver S O'Reilly advised she did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered. Stewards questioned Miss O'Reilly regarding the tactics she adopted in the early and middle stages. Miss O'Reilly explained that after improving to the lead around the first bend it had been her intention to remain in that position however, after being challenged by an outside runner approaching the 2000m, she elected to restrain to trail. Miss O'Reilly added that shortly after BETTOR BE SHARP, which was racing behind her runner, had shifted away from the marker line and improved its position to the lead so she felt her best option was to shift away from her position three back on the marker line as her horse was racing keenly and she did not want to be covered by outside horses in the running line. Miss O'Reilly further added that once shifting to the parked position near the 1800m the gelding had commenced to over-race so she elected to progress forward to regain the lead. After considering her explanation Stewards noted Miss O'Reilly's comments. | |
BETTOR BE SHARP - Stewards questioned driver G O'Reilly regarding the tactics he adopted in the early and middle stages. Mr O'Reilly explained after beginning quickly to lead in the early stages he elected to restrain to take a trail behind SHARDS MATRIX however, after SOFIA ROSE had improved to the outside of that runner near the 2000m and obtain the lead, he felt his best option was to shift outwards and regain the lead. Mr O'Reilly added it was his intention to remain in that position but SHARDS MATRIX had improved quickly to his outside approaching the 1600m so he again elected to restrain his runner and obtain cover. After considering his explanation Stewards noted Mr O'Reilly's comments. |
