Race 1   ROBILLIARDS SHOWCASE JEWELLERS TROT
DARK GHANA - lay inwards near the 1400m striking track markers.
A REASON TO FIGHT - broke for a considerable distance racing into the first bend and lost ground after striking the sulky wheel of OLIVER which shifted inwards when insufficiently clear. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards had viewed the replays and spoken to driver S McNally who confirmed his horse had broken as a result of suffering interference. After considering the matter which was evident on the replays, Stewards exercised discretion in accordance with the Breaking Horses Regulation by not disqualifying the horse from the race.
LOVEYOU TO DA SKYE - broke at the start hampering a trailing runner losing all chance.
PROHIBITED BID - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1100m.
OLIVER - held up final bend. Trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be fully driven out. Driver C DeFilippi admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly racing into the first bend by shifting inwards when insufficiently clear of A REASON TO FIGHT which was checked and broke losing ground. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr DeFilippi's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 14 June 2024 (3 days).
CREATING KASH - paced away and then broke losing ground. Broke again rounding the first bend losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer D Williamson.
MY ROYAL BREAK - broke at the start losing ground. Broke again near the 1100m hampering a trailing runner losing all chance.
ELLAMON - broke at the start losing ground. Weakened leaving the final bend.
OUR EVIE RAE - hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages.
HEARTBREAK HOTEL - trainer G Smith was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for being late to present the gelding onto the track.

DANCING GLENIS - shied passing the 1700m having to be corrected by driver R Anderson. Lay inwards throughout the run home.

COURTNEY ROSE - when questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver B Butt advised the filly had received every opportunity after improving wide on the final bend with cover however had failed to run on over the concluding stages and had proved disappointing.
WISHFUL THINKING - held up leaving the final bend.
BLACK BILLIE GEE - raced wide early.
FULHAM JIVE - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
WOODLEA DIAMOND - raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages.
MEGYN KELLY - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver W House. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
CARVING UP - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1500m.

TASI AHNAU - broke at the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
MAJOR TOMMY - lay inwards in the run home.
MY TEN GUITARS - broke at the start losing ground. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 100m.
HEAVEN - broke at the start losing ground. Raced wide without cover from the 800m. Lay inwards throughout the run home.

HENRY WINKLER - held up early in the run home.
IVONA DADIC - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
RUTHERFORD - broke near the 100m and shifted outwards striking the sulky wheel of WHOSDREAMINGNOW with trailing runners also being hampered losing its chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
BRONSKI - broke at the start losing ground. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 100m.
MAJOR HENRY - held up late in the run home.

HIGH NOON - broke at the start losing ground.
ALI LINDENNY - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
EMILY - broke briefly shortly after the start.
TAKE AFTER ME - broke rounding the first bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
MAJESTIC WHISPER - lay outwards throughout the run home. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer M Purvis advised the mare had benefited from changes made to the spreaders worn after striking a knee at its last start causing it to break adding that he had also removed the overcheck on the horse for today's race.
COSMIC ANGEL - over-raced middle stages. Cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
Race 5   GRAEME SPARKS MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
DOCTOR TIM - late scratching at 8.52am on Veterinary advice.
EDDIE OSEI - hung outwards and over-raced at various stages throughout causing driver S Thornley some difficulty. Again lay outwards leaving the final bend.
TREACHEROUS MISS - lay inwards and struck track markers rounding the first bend.
SPIRITED LOU - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. Driver K Butt advised she did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
Race 6   RAKAIA SEED CLEANING SAPLING STAKES (MOBILE PACE)
MARKETPLACE - held up early in the run home.
BRUNTWOOD BRIGADE - broke racing into the first bend hampering a trailing runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
MALAKAI - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend. Lay outwards early in the run home despite the efforts of driver T Williams.
Race 7   HELEN POPE FILLIES CLASSIC (MOBILE PACE)
GONE SURFIN - driver T Williams advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
MARYANNE GOLIGHTLY - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Over-raced middle stages. Weakened final bend. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts at the request of trainer M Jones.
DAISY DIANA - raced greenly at various stages throughout.
TYRON'S CONNOISSEUR - out of position at the start. Junior driver K Newman (assisted by T Williams) admitted a breach of Rule 858(1)(i) in that he failed to maintain his position until the start. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
VINCENT REACTRESS - out of position at the start. Junior driver W House (who elected not to have the assistance of a senior driver) admitted a breach of Rule 858(1)(i) in that he failed to maintain his position until the start. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
ABSOLUTE BABE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver M Williamson. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Paced roughly and broke rounding the first bend losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
Race 8   RURAL BUSINESS ACCOUNTANTS CHAMPION STAKES (MOB PACE)
COMMANDER JOE - held up early in the run home.
KELTIC TIGER - raced wide early.
SPIRIT OF ANARCHY - raced wide early.
HADRON COLLIDER - raced wide early.
NEVERSEENTHERAIN - held up early in the run home.
Race 9   ASHBURTON T.C. MEMBERS MOBILE PACE
SPIRITUAL BLISS - held up for clear racing room until near the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards questioned driver T Williams regarding his decision to shift outwards leaving the final bend instead of remaining in the trail and waiting for the available run in the passing lane in the run home. After considering Mr Williams explanation, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 868(2) which Mr Williams defended, alleging he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to win or obtain the best possible finishing place. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Williams, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge.
ITZ MAGICAL MEG - weakened final bend. Paced roughly in the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed signs of muscle tie up. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
BETTERTHANDIVA - raced wide early.
IDEAL CHEVRON - out of position at the start. Driver K Butt was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice. In taking this course of action Stewards were mindful that Miss Butt had been warned recently in relation to this rule.
KRYSTAL DELIGHT - out of position at the start. Driver B Hope was issued a warning.
A DANCING ROCKA - hampered by a slight easing of the pace near the 1200m.
Race 10   S.I.D.C. SOCIAL CLUB TROT
BRAVEHEARTHIGHLANDER - broke at the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
KAIRAKI SPUR - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
MM SUNSHINE - crowded by an outside runner late in the run home.
MISSALYSSA - broke at the start losing ground. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 50m.

SWEET LADY JANE - broke at the start losing all chance.
SPECIAL EFFECTS - broke near the 50m hampering a trailing runner losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.

Race 11   NZB AIRFREIGHT MOBILE PACE
There was a significant delay to the start after a large area of the track near the 300m required remedial work due to a build up of track grit caused by the tractor when grooming the racing surface. After confirming with several senior drivers that they were satisfied with the surface, Stewards deemed the track to be suitable to continue racing.
ABSOLUTE DYNAMITE - hung inwards striking track markers rounding the first bend. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
JUSTIN FUN - crowded by an outside runner racing into the first bend. Lay inwards final bend striking a track marker.
FINDERS KEEPERS - driver S Ottley was warned for the manner in which she drove racing into the first bend when crowding an inside runner.
TANE J J - over-raced middle stages. Held up final bend and early in the run home.
MISTER BLUE SKY - raced wide early and middle stages. Weakened leaving the final bend.
WRIGGLES RUFUS - held up early in the run home.
TIMBIMBOO - over-raced middle stages.
DON JUAN - broke briefly in the score up however was in position at the start. Junior driver M Holbrough (assisted by M Williamson) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that she used her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Holbrough's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 9 June up to and including 21 June 2024 (3 days).
