Cambridge Harness - Thursday, 16th May 2024
Race 2 - MID WINTER XMAS TICKETS ON SALE NOW MOBILE PACE
Subsequent to the meeting connections of JACCKA COOPER provided Stewards with a veterinary certificate from Dr R Hitchcock BVSc MRCVS of the Cambridge Veterinary Hospital which stated ''On the 17th of May Jaccka Cooper was examined and found to have significant bruising of the soles of both front feet, which were sensitive to hoof testers. This would have very likely affected his race performance 16th of May 2024.'' Given that this finding supported Driver M Northcott's explanation that JACCKA COOPER was not travelling well enough to shift out near the 300m, Stewards sought and were granted leave to withdraw the charge. Notwithstanding this Miss Northcott was reminded of her obligations and advised to ensure that she drives in such a manner that leaves no room for query in the future. Trainer G Rogerson advised that JACCKA COOPER had been turned out for a spell and the gelding was stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
