At an adjourned hearing on 30 May, driver R Close defended a breach of Rule 868(3) in that he failed to drive GEORGE ELIOT out to the end of the race when having a reasonable chance of finishing 3rd. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and suspended Mr Close's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 2 June up to and including 16 June 2024 (4 days). |

Stewards questioned Mr Dunn regarding the tactics he adopted during the running. Mr Dunn explained the gelding had raced greenly through the early stages and paced roughly losing ground resulting in him having to chase to catch the body of the field near the 1000m. Mr Dunn added the horse was racing up in grade and he was reluctant to improve his position in the middle stages after having to work hard early to obtain cover. Mr Dunn further added that when improving on the final bend he had been forced to race very wide on the track however was pleased with the gelding's effort given the fast overall time. | |

GLENGARRY MOONLIGHT - over-raced passing the 1300m when being restrained to obtain cover. Raced keenly through the middle stages. Stewards questioned driver T Chmiel regarding his decision to shift outwards leaving the final bend instead of waiting for the available run in the passing lane. After considering his explanation, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 869(3)(f) which Mr Chmiel defended, alleging he drove improperly when shifting wider on the track instead of waiting for the available run in the passing lane which enabled MIKI BENNETT (T Williams) to improve to his inside and obtain clear running. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Chmiel, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge. | |
WOTSONYAMIND - weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Butt advised the gelding had worked hard in the early stages and raced greenly passing the 1200m when attempting to improve to the lead resulting in the horse having to race parked with the effort taking its toll. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. |
