Race 2 - PREMIUM PEAS TROT
Following an Appeal hearing on 9 May in relation to a charge alleging driver P Nairn (FORGIVENESS) failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to win the race by failing to show sufficient vigour in the run home, the Appeals Tribunal dismissed the Appeal and suspended Mr Nairn's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 19 May up to and including 23 June 2024 (10 days) and imposed costs against Mr Nairn of $500.

Trainer R David advised Stewards on 21 May that on returning home from the races JOSE QUIVERA was showing signs of having a stone bruise which is now being treated. Mr David added the horse will now be given a brief spell before continuing its preparation.

BRUNTWOOD BRIGADE - driver J Dunn advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
RENALDO - co-trainers M & N Purdon were issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the gelding to race with sliding blinds and removable deafeners which had not been notified.
ABSOLUTE BABE - hung inwards in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Paced roughly rounding the final bend losing ground hampering a trailing runner.
DAISY DIANA - raced greenly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Continued to race greenly throughout causing driver S Tomlinson difficulty. Hampered rounding the final bend and paced roughly in consequence. Again paced roughly in the run home.
SHOWCASE - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to the rear of the field.

A REASON TO FIGHT - held up until late in the run home.
SPOTLIGHT - hung inwards throughout the run home causing driver T Williams some difficulty.
TINKERBELLE - when questioned regarding the performance driver S Ottley advised she was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation.
LOVE A PATRICK - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Over-raced middle stages.
SOLEMN SON - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
ALL CONQUERED - broke passing the 1600m losing ground. Hung inwards rounding the final bend striking track markers.

Race 3   THE VALLEY INN TAVERN (JUNIOR DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
TIMBIMBOO - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer A Stuart advised the gelding had over-raced when leading at its last start and had been suited by an economical run tonight.
MILLWOOD GODDESS - out of position at the start. Driver S Hill was issued with a warning. Raced wide early.
KINK - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver D Dolan. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide early.
ABSOLUTE DYNAMITE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver R Harrison. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide early and middle stages.
INTERPOL - over-raced middle stages. Held up throughout the run home. The chin rest on the gelding came adrift inside the final 200m.
ROTTEN RODDEN - over-raced middle stages.
Race 4   GARRARDS MOBILE PACE
SWEET SPIRIT - held up rounding the final bend.
JOAN'S RISING STAR - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home. Stewards questioned junior driver S Hill (assisted by M Williamson) regarding the tactics he adopted early in the run home when attempting to shift wider on the track resulting in his runner being held up. Mr Hill explained he had expected TREACHEROUS MISS who he had been trailing would shift into the passing lane which would allow him the opportunity to improve to the outside of that runner however TREACHEROUS MISS had only marginally shifted inwards resulting in JOAN'S RISING STAR becoming held up for clear racing room after committing to an outside run. After viewing the replays and considering his explanation, Stewards were satisfied that Mr Hill's tactics were not unreasonable in the circumstances considering it was a split second decision to shift outwards at the time.
TREACHEROUS MISS - weakened in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver R Close advised it was the mare's first start back from a spell and combined with racing over 2600m tonight it had peaked on its run, however, he expected the horse would derive considerable benefit from the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
SUPERSTAR LEGEND - briefly locked sulky stays with INDIANA ARDEN rounding the first bend.
WILD IRISH ROSE - over-raced middle stages.
INDIANA ARDEN - briefly locked sulky stays with SUPERSTAR LEGEND rounding the first bend.
EBURY STREET - held up throughout the run home. Driver C Dalgety advised he did not activate the sliding blinds or removable deafeners in consequence.
Race 5   LAMB & HAYWARD HANDICAP TROT
PAIGE - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
MOSES - broke at the start losing all chance.
RUAKAKA - trotted roughly when weakening in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver B Butt advised the gelding had trotted roughly and felt lethargic throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with Mr Butt in the coming days.
GREENBANK DON - over-raced middle stages.
Race 6   WOODLANDS THANKS TODAY'S BUYERS 2YO FILLIES MOBILE PACE
TYRON'S CONNOISSEUR - lay outwards in the early stages briefly crowding an outside runner. Over-raced middle stages.
ONE FOR JAY - hung outwards and paced roughly rounding the final bend losing ground.
JOYRIDE(AUS) - crowded in the early stages.
CAPTAIN JOAN - paced roughly early stages. Weakened final bend.
Race 7   STORER MOTORS MOBILE PACE
PERAKI SEELSTER - driver R May was warned for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion in the run home.
SOPHIA'S DREAM - trainer B Butt advised the mare has had its stifles treated since last racing. Hampered shortly after the start having to be steadied. Paced roughly at various stages throughout. Weakened leaving the final bend.
WHAT A MINX - hung inwards in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover resulting in the mare shifting inwards hampering SOPHIA'S DREAM despite the efforts of driver C Dalgety. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
HELIUM - hung inwards rounding the first bend. Raced wide early.
Race 8   FAHEY FENCE HIRE TROT
WHAT THE BELL - broke at the start losing ground.
SONOMA TYRON - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Junior driver R Harrison (assisted by J Dunn) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that she used her whip in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Harrison's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 30 May up to and including 9 June 2024 (3 days).
GALLEONS GRANDSON - trotted roughly through the middle stages losing ground. Broke near the 300m hampering a trailing runner losing all chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Williamson could offer no explanation and advised connections would have the gelding examined by their Veterinarian in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
PRACTICAL MAGIC - hung outwards throughout the run home.
BRAVEHEARTHIGHLANDER - tangled away. Hung inwards throughout the run home.
HOLLY HIGHLANDER - tangled away.
GEORGE ELIOT - Stewards questioned driver R Close regarding his lack of vigour over the concluding stages and after hearing his explanation issued a charge under Rule 868(3) alleging he failed to drive the mare out to the end of the race when having a reasonable chance of finishing 3rd. Mr Close advised he would be defending the charge and the hearing was adjourned by the Adjudicative Committee sine die.
RUSH - over-raced middle stages. Broke near the 300m striking several track markers losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
EMILY - trainer M Howard advised Stewards the mare has been treated for seasonal issues since last racing and blood tests taken had revealed no abnormalities. Hampered by a breaking runner rounding the final bend. Driver T Bamford was warned for allowing his whip to protrude outside the sulky confines when having difficulty activating the removable deafeners in the run home.
FIGHT FOR FREEDOM - held up early in the run home. Driver B Butt admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $500.
BOYZ INVASION - held up middle stages of the run home.
Race 9   XCM SPORT MOBILE PACE
FINDERS KEEPERS - co-trainers M & K Gill were issued a warning for failing to have the correct colours available. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 500m.
LORD MUDRICK - shifted outwards in the run home when being driven out hampering an outside runner. Driver C Butt admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Butt's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 2 June 2024 (2 days). Mr Butt defended a breach of Rule 869(4) and the Home Straight Regulations alleging he failed to maintain a straight course in the run home resulting in MIKI BENNETT being hampered. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Butt, the Adjudicative Committee upheld the charge and suspended Mr Butt's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 2 June up to and including 9 June 2024 (2 days).
BETTERWITHBLING - paced roughly in the run home.
FLYING ASHES - over-raced early and middle stages. Weakened rapidly from the 500m hampering trailing runners. When questioned regarding the performance driver K Cameron advised the gelding had been striking its wheels causing it to over-race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery.
HARRISON JOHN - driver J Dunn advised he did not activate the removable deafeners or sliding blinds due to having the field covered.
MIKI BENNETT - hampered when LORD MUDRICK shifted outwards in the run home.
HERB - connections advised the gelding has had its hocks treated since last racing.
