ENYA FRANCO - trainer S McRae was issued a warning for presenting the mare to race with removable deafeners which had not been notified. | |
MEGYN KELLY - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver R Holmes. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Weakened final bend. | |
WOODLEA DIAMOND - raced wide early. Locked wheels with SHAKIRA near the 300m with both runners losing ground and checking trailing runners. Stewards questioned driver K Cameron regarding this incident and after hearing his explanation it was established that WOODLEA DIAMOND had proved difficult for Mr Cameron to steer throughout the race and had hung outwards near the 300m just prior to SHAKIRA improving to the outside of the filly despite the efforts of Mr Cameron resulting in both runners locking wheels. Accordingly Stewards placed a warning on the racing record of WOODLEA DIAMOND with Mr Cameron advising he would be recommending gear changes prior to the filly resuming. | |

KNOCKSHANBALLY - shifted inwards racing into the first bend resulting in TOPAZ having to be restrained. Over-raced middle stages. Weakened leaving the final bend. Junior driver A Drake, who declined assistance from a senior driver, admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly by allowing his horse to shift inwards racing into the first bend when insufficiently clear of TOPAZ which was checked and lost its rightful racing position. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Drake's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 26 May 2024 (2 days). | |
TOPAZ - struck the sulky wheel of KNOCKSHANBALLY shortly after the start. Driver A Cameron was issued with a warning. In taking this course of action Stewards were mindful there had been no consequential effects. Checked racing into the first bend by KNOCKSHANBALLY which shifted ground inwards. |

MISS MELANIE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Trainer A Faulks advised he would give consideration to sending the filly for a spell. | |
MASSIVE MERC - Stewards questioned driver A Clark regarding his decision not to shift inwards to obtain a trail when an opportunity existed rounding the first bend. Mr Clark advised the gelding had trotted roughly rounding the bend and for this reason he had been reluctant to restrain his runner any further and risk the chance of the horse breaking. Mr Clark added that once turning into the front straight near the 1400m where the horse had commenced to trot more fluently, he had attempted to shift the gelding inwards and obtain a trail however SHEEP had improved to his inside resulting in MASSIVE MERC being left to race parked. Cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts. | |

WOODLEA JEWEL - briefly crowded near the 1400m after GLORYS DELIGHT had shifted ground inwards. Stewards questioned drivers R Close (GLORYS DELIGHT) and C Dalgety (WOODLEA JEWEL) regarding this incident where it was established that Mr Close had commenced to shift his runner inwards when sufficiently clear of WOODLEA JEWEL however shortly after Mr Dalgety urged his horse forward in an attempt to take up a position three back on the marker line resulting in him having to steady for a short distance when becoming awkwardly placed to the inside of GLORYS DELIGHT. After viewing the replays and considering their explanations, both drivers were reminded of their obligations given similar circumstances in future. When questioned regarding the improved performance Mr Dalgety advised the mare had shown natural improvement from its first start back from a spell and had benefitted from the addition of sliding blinds combined with a drop in class of opposition tonight. | |
