Race 1   ALABAR WEANLINGS SELLING MAY 23 MOBILE PACE
MANTRA - lay in contacting several track markers rounding the final turn.
BILLY THE KID - paced roughly under pressure in the run home.
OBADIAH DRAGON - held up final turn. Raced over the final track marker when in restricted room.
GLADYS GREENLAND - lay in when weakening rounding the final turn.
FRISCO BAY - the boring pole was removed prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably. Briefly jostled for a position in the running line entering the first turn.
SUNSHINE SHELBY - briefly jostled for a position in the running line entering the first turn.
Race 2   MAJESTIC HORSE FLOATS HANDICAP TROT
BOSS KENNY - pre-race warmed.
KAIPAKI JACK - shifted outwards when leading approaching the 1700m after shying away from several members of the Electrician's staff who were attending to the starting mechanism on the infield. The club undertook to address this incident so a repeat does not occur. Weakened in the run home.
LORD POPINJAY - lay out throughout the run home having to be corrected by Driver M Ranger.
JOCA'S HILL - broke racing into the first turn losing its chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
Race 3   JACOBSEN HEADSTONES MOBILE PACE
LEO LINCOLN - lay in near the 1800m contacting several track markers with one marker being dislodged by the trailing AYE AYE CAPTAIN. Had difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight.
BAD MEDICINE - held up throughout the run home.
BETTER KNUCKLE UP - when questioned regarding the performance Driver C Hackett stated that after getting back in the running from her second row draw she had not received a trail into the race as she had hoped but was satisfied with the manner in which the colt finished on over the final stages when making up considerable ground.
Race 4   IRT YOUNG GUNS 2YO TROTTERS SERIES FINAL MOBILE TROT
HIGHER POWER - raced wide early. Lay out leaving the final turn having to be corrected by Driver S Phelan.
KENNY HILL - marginally back from position at the candy pole. Raced wide early. Trotted roughly rounding the final turn losing ground.
MEANT TO BE - back from the unruly position at the start. Raced wide early. Lay out leaving the final turn having to be corrected by Driver Z Butcher.
FINAL APPROACH - broke in the score up losing all chance. Stood down to complete one mobile trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
Race 5   BORDER FENCING SERVICES FILLIES & MARES HANDICAP TROT
SANINARMBRO - lay in contacting a track marker near the 1300m. Lay in again rounding the final turn contacting several track markers.
THE MOONSTONE - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Broke near the 250m losing its chance. A warning was placed on the filly's racing manners.
RUBY RIDGE - weakened final turn.
HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL - lay in contacting track markers near the 250m.
JASINOVA - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Weakened in the run home.
SHEZ BELLA - raced four wide from the 600m.
Race 6   ROY PURDON MEMORIAL HANDICAP PACE
SPEAK THE TRUTH - placed in restricted room just prior to the barriers being released and broke briefly. When questioned Driver A Sanderson advised that his chances had not been affected.
REPUBLICAN PARTY - awkwardly positioned to the inside of KANGO when the barriers were released then broke losing ground. Authorisation of placings was withheld until Driver Z Butcher confirmed that the entire's chances had not been affected in this incident.
OLD TOWN ROAD - broke at the start losing ground.
DON'T STOP DREAMING - Driver N Rasmussen was questioned regarding her decision not to shift out to lead up the running line prior to being covered by REPUBLICAN PARTY near the 1300m. Ms Rasmussen stated that she had been mindful that her runner had over-raced at its previous start when outside the leader and had warmed up quite aggressively prior to tonight's event so felt her best option was to look to improve with a trail rather than risk the entire over-racing again if left in the open. Stewards noted Ms Rasmussen's comments.
BETTER ECLIPSE - held up early and middle stages of the run home. Driver G Sugars was questioned regarding his decision not to shift out to lead up the running line prior to being covered near the 1200m. Mr Sugars advised that the gelding had been off the bit early when chasing from its 20m handicap and felt that remaining on the marker line at this stage was his best option. Stewards noted Mr Sugars' comments.
Race 7   MAGNESS BENROW SIRES STAKES 3YO FILLIES CHAMP'SHIP MOB PACE
DUCHESS MEGXIT - lay in contacting track markers rounding the final turn.
AARDIE B MIKI - weakened in the run home.
QUEEN OF SWORDS - underwent a post-race veterinary examination after displaying lameness on returning to the stabling area. No significant abnormality was detected and connections advised the filly will be sent for a spell.
AKATEA - Driver B Butcher reported that the near side hopple shortener had become entangled around the connecting strap after having released correctly.
CHANGE TACT - lay in and paced roughly for a stride near the 150m after contacting the sulky wheel of SEASIDE ROSE which was shifting wider.
Race 8   IRT NZ SIRES STAKES 3YO TROTTERS CHAMPIONSHIP MOB TROT
PRINCESS SADIE - when questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver M Williamson stated that the filly may have been feeling the effects of recent racing.
LOVEMEAGAIN - weakened in the run home.
LIL WHIP - broke racing into the first turn losing all chance.
DRAGONSTONE - trotted roughly in the score up and was back from position at dispatch. Broke shortly after the start and was retired from the event. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier manners.
LOOK TO DA STARS - pre-race warmed. Broke near the 150m losing its chance.
EDWARD HILL - pre-race warmed. Co-trainers S & A Telfer were warned for the late notification of fixed deafeners instead of removable deafeners. Weakened final turn.
THE MERC - weakened from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Driver B Williamson advised that the colt had over-raced in the early stages and had disappointed when going to pull up near the 600m.
Trainer M White advised Stewards on 18 May that PARAMOUNT KIWI has developed a quarter crack on the off fore which will require remedial shoeing. Stewards will follow up with Mr White in the coming days.
Race 9   HR FISKEN & SONS ANZAC CUP HANDICAP TROT
KYVALLEY HOTSPUR - lay in near the 900m losing ground. Lay in again rounding the final turn losing further ground.
ALL CASHED UP(AUS) - lay out leaving the final turn despite the efforts of Driver C Hackett. Trotted roughly throughout the run home and was unable to be driven out.
OSCAR BONAVENA - pre-race warmed.
MUSCLE MOUNTAIN - shifted up the track leaving the final turn when Driver B Hope activated gear. Mr Hope was spoken to in relation to exercising greater control in future.
Race 10   THE ALEX BAR & EATERY MOBILE PACE
I CAN TOO - had to be steadied near the 750m when there was an easing of the pace in the running line.
XCITE ME - had to be steadied near the 750m when there was an easing of the pace in the running line. Weakened in the run home.
MAJOR BREAK - weakened in the run home.
ALWAYS A PORSCHE - unsuccessfully challenged for the lead for a distance passing the 1000m. Raced greenly when laying out at various stages and in particular in the run home when shifting wider despite the efforts of Driver Z Butcher.
