Stewards questioned Driver M Northcott regarding her failure to shift out from the one-one position near the 300m prior to being covered by COMMANDER LINCOLN. After taking initial evidence from Miss Northcott, Stewards issued a charge under 868(2) on the grounds that she failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures at this stage of the event to ensure her runner was given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible position and/or finishing place. Miss Northcott, assisted by P Ferguson, advised she would be defending the charge and the hearing was opened and adjourned by the Adjudicative Committee until 31 May 2024. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. | |

After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300. | |
FIFTH AND FINAL - Driver M Ranger reported that she had been unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled. |
