Following an adjourned hearing on 19 April where driver T Grant defended a breach of Rule 868(2) alleging he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure GEORGE ELIOT was given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible finishing place by failing to show sufficient vigour in the run home, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and after receiving submissions on penalty from all parties, Mr Grant's driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing on 10 May up to and including 2 June 2024 (8 days).

FOLLOW ME FANTASY - broke after 150m losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Weakened passing the 600m.
OPO - driver M Maynard was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
VRILO - trainer J Burrows was issued a warning for failing to have the correct colours available.
WHAT A MINX - driver B Peisley was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
OFF THE EDGE - driver A Edge admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip free of the rein on several occasions in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.
BETTING GIFT - raced greenly near the 1000m losing ground. Weakened final bend. Driver C Negus was warned for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion and when out of contention in the run home.

EYES TO HEAVEN - driver J Dunn was warned for half carting passing the 1400m.
MILLWOOD GODDESS - slow to begin. Driver S Hill was warned for half carting passing the 1300m.
LOUIE VISTA - held up rounding the final bend. Driver S Ottley was warned for using her whip in a continuous manner in the run home.

Race 3   HARNESS RACING UNHINGED TROT
ELLAMON - hung inwards final bend contacting track markers. Notwithstanding this driver R Holmes was advised to make a better effort to prevent his runner from contacting track markers.
TRUEBLUE WAIHEMO - weakened leaving the final bend.
HOOFN IT - weakened final bend.
BONJOUR PARIS - slow to begin. Hung inwards rounding the first bend losing ground. Continued to hang inwards rounding the bends.
SOLEMN SON - lay inwards and trotted roughly rounding the first bend hampering a trailing runner.
LOVEYOU TO DA SKYE - held up final bend.
PANDEMIC - tangled away. Trotted roughly in the run home.
KAMILLA - slow to begin. Broke passing the 1200m losing all chance.
IMPERIAL COMMAND - refused to come up into its position on the unruly and backed away taking no part in the race. Declared a non-runner by Stewards under Rule 213(1)(e) due to unsatisfactory manners prior to the start. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming.
STAR INVASION - hampered rounding the first bend. Weakened leaving the final bend.
Race 4   FAHEY FENCE HIRE MOBILE PACE
SPECTATOR - trainer M House was issued a warning for being late to notify the mare would be racing with blinds. Hampered near the 550m by a weakening runner.
VISCOUNT BANNER - hung inwards final bend causing driver J Dunn difficulty when attempting to shift wider on the track to obtain clear running resulting in the horse being held up by a weakening runner.
AMBLESIDE DRIVE - over-raced from the 1300m.
SOFIA ROSE - over-raced middle stages.
THE WELSH DRAGON - raced wide early and middle stages. Weakened passing the 550m hampering trailing runners. Driver G Smith was issued with a warning for contacting track markers rounding the final bend.
FLYING FOR ME - raced wide throughout. Weakened final bend.
PACIFIC THUNDER - held up final bend.
WATERHOLES ROAD - held up final bend.
WAIKARI BARB - hampered final bend by a weakening runner.
Race 5   LAMB & HAYWARD TROT
A false start was declared when SILVERLININGS swung sideways just prior to the start and made contact with the sulky of BLINK N BONES resulting in DIDJABRINGTHEBUBBLES and DEM BONES DEM BONES being checked. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Sent to the unruly position by the Starter where the horse will remain for future standing starts.
GINAS MAJESTY - lay inwards near the 2100m striking a track marker.
GEORGE ELIOT - hung outwards throughout the run home and shifted up the track despite the efforts of driver J Morrison.
SILVERLININGS - stood on the mark at the re-start losing ground. Broke near the 800m losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
BLINK N BONES - struck the sulky wheel of MURANO near the 500m and broke losing ground hampering trailing runners. Driver B Ford defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when allowing his horse to strike the sulky wheel of MURANO resulting in his runner breaking and losing ground. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Ford the Adjudicative Committee upheld the charge and imposed a fine of $300.
NATIVES INFERNO - broke at the start losing ground. Held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
STARLIGHT GAZER - broke near the 500m losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Lay inwards near the 300m striking track markers.
BEYOND THE HORIZON - lay inwards and struck a track marker near the 900m which was dislodged and contacted a trailing runner which was checked. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
RUSH - cast a bell boot near the 650m. Broke rounding the final bend when leading losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
SPEEDING SPIRIT - trotted roughly in the run home.
CAPPAHA - over-raced middle stages. Contacted by a dislodged track marker passing the 900m and continued on in a break for a considerable distance. Struck track markers passing the 650m when in a break. Stewards lodged a protest against 3rd placing being awarded under Rule 870(3)(4)(d) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding broke in excess of 150m and failed to lose ground while in a break. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and driver R Holmes, the Adjudicative Committee upheld the protest and CAPPAHA was disqualified from 3rd placing.
