Race 1   GOODMAN PLUMBING LTD MOBILE PACE
LOTTIE'S LUCK - lay in final bend striking track markers.
TRES BONNE FILLE - paced roughly in the early stages. When asked to comment on the performance of the filly trainer/driver M Jones advised he was disappointed in the effort and could offer no tangible explanation.
UCANTHANDLETHETRUTH - driver B Williamson reported he was unable to release the removable deafeners due to the cord breaking. The gear was inspected and found to be in previous good condition.
Race 2   RHEEM FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
LEDGER'S MAID - driver P Hunter reported that despite his efforts only one hopple shortener released.
GEMS DELIGHT - raced wide early.
LIBBIE QWANTERROS - raced wide early. Weakened final bend.
DELIGHTNJOY - raced three wide from the 850m. Weakened final bend.
ULTIMATE CULLECT - raced wide final bend.
Race 3   MICO TROT
MAJESTIC DAUGHTER - broke rounding the final bend losing all chance.
TIMMY TURTLE - broke briefly after 150m losing some ground.
PYRAMID ROSE - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Broke again rounding the first bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
ACTION PACKED - broke passing the 200m losing ground. Cleared from the Unruly for future standing starts.
SONNY JIM - trainer C Laurenson was issued with a warning for failing to have the correct colours available.
FATHER ON DOWN - weakened final bend.
HIGHLIGHT - fractious prior to the start and was back from its Unruly position. Trotted roughly and weakened from the 600m.
Race 4   MM BRANDS MOBILE PACE
MCDOLMIO - driver M Williamson elected to start from the Unruly position due to the gelding displaying unfavourable manners in its preliminary. Slow to leave the pre-race circle however was in the Unruly position at the start. Weakened final bend. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts.
MAJOR MEDLEY - held up for clear racing room until the middle stages of the run home.
RYLAN CHARLIE - paced roughly for a few strides near the 120m and shifted out having to be straightened by driver S O'Reilly.
BUCKIE DUNDEE - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to take cover. Raced wide from the 700m. Weakened final bend.
MATAI LIZZIE - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to take cover. Weakened final bend.
BIG BOYZ TOY - the blinds were removed prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably.
Race 5   BUTELINE NZ LTD HANDICAP TROT
The start was delayed when the overcheck on RATA came adrift.
KYLE LOCH - lay in entering the first bend contacting several track markers.
RUBY SEDDON - returned to the stabling area showing signs of lameness. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg. Stood down pending a Veterinary Clearance prior to resuming.
RATA - lost the off-hind bell boot in the run home.
JACCKA BAYLIS - raced wide early.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - broke leaving the final bend.
Race 6   MARLEY NZ LTD HANDICAP TROT
MAD JACK - trainer A Hoffman was issued with a warning after presenting the gelding without the notified blinds. Driver B Barclay reported that a sulky tyre had deflated during the running.
MOMENT OF WHAT - trotted roughly at the start losing ground. Driver C Ferguson reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
OUR PINOCCHIO - slow to begin. Raced three wide from the 800m for a distance.
Race 7   IPLEX PIPES MOBILE PACE
TASHS BAD GIRL - lay out at various stages throughout.
RAKE - sustained a punctured sulky tyre passing the 1400m when contacted by JENNY GUMP and was retired from the race near the 1000m by driver K Adams when the tyre came off the rim.
FIREFOREFIDDLE - raced three wide from the 1500m.
WARRIOR EASTON - raced three wide from the 1500m.
NEK DELIGHT - raced wide from the 900m.
RIGHTAZZ - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1400m. Hampered final bend.
JENNY GUMP - raced wide from the 900m. Driver S Walkinshaw admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when shifting ground outwards near the 1400m and striking the sulky wheel of RAKE, resulting in the tyre deflating and coming off the rim and the gelding being retired from the race. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.
WESTAR MOLLY - raced three wide through the middle stages. Placed in restricted room when weakening near the 400m when SHERWOOD MAGGIE momentarily shifted ground outwards. Stewards spoke with drivers H Douglas (WESTAR MOLLY) and J Cox (SHERWOOD MAGGIE) where it was established that SHERWOOD MAGGIE shifted outwards from the running line to obtain clear racing room simultaneous to JENNY GUMP shifting inwards from the three wide line resulting in WESTAR MOLLY being tightened for racing room and hampering a trailing runner. Mr Douglas confirmed there were no consequential effects to his runner. Notwithstanding this J Cox was issued with a warning for the manner he shifted ground.
Race 8   MASTER PLUMBERS NZ MOBILE PACE
BETTER BE WATCHING - driver D Anderson reported the sliding blinds failed to activate due to the cord becoming entangled.
BRIDGET LOUISE - raced wide early. Over-raced through the middle stages.
ALWAYS TICKING - driver N Williamson was warned for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
FLYING BIRD - raced wide early.
HALEY JACCKA - held up throughout the run home. Driver B Barclay reported he did not release the removable deafeners as a consequence.
Race 9   SOUTHLAND MASTER PLUMBERS MOBILE PACE
ON THE WING - retired from the race passing the 1400m by driver M Williamson who reported he felt the gelding had suffered an atrial fibrillation which was confirmed by a post-race Veterinary examination. Connections were advised the gelding was stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG before completing one trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
EZRA THE SCRIBE - raced wide early.
GOMA DALE - raced three wide until reaching the parked position passing the 1400m then again raced three wide from the 900m. Weakened final bend.
SLY TRICKS - lay in final bend when weakening contacting track markers.
ROBYNS HUSTLER - when asked to comment on the improved performance co-trainer R Wilson reported the gelding had been unlucky in recent starts when running on and had benefitted from a recent change in training regime.
ARLO MAGUIRE - driver D O'Connell was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
BONNIE'S GIRL - broke in the score up however was in position at the start.
Race 10   NEXT RACE MEETING 25TH MAY MOBILE PACE
RAKAMURPH - held up final bend and was then unable to obtain clear racing room throughout the run home.
TEDDY BAKER - fractious and refused to leave the pre-race circle taking no part in the race. Following the race Stewards reviewed the footage of the start and subsequently declared TEDDY BAKER a non-runner pursuant to Rule 213(1)(e) due to unsatisfactory manners prior to the start. Stood down to complete one mobile trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
SOUTH SEAS ROCK - raced fiercely when leading through the middle stages with driver H Douglas advising the gelding had been striking the wheel discs. Shifted up the track throughout the run home. Mr Douglas was spoken to advisedly to ensure he makes a better effort to maintain a straight course in the run home.
