Race 1   FAHEY FENCE HIRE MOBILE TROT
LOVE A PATRICK - over-raced and broke approaching the first bend hampering a trailing runner losing considerable ground.
SOLEMN SON - trotted roughly first bend losing ground. Again trotted roughly final bend. Held up late in the run home.
HAYLEY MHOR - broke as the start was effected and shifted inwards abruptly checking inside runners losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
STAR INVASION - hampered by a breaking runner near the 50m.
LOTUS FRANCO - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
TRIPPY TYRON - broke passing the 100m hampering a trailing runner losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
SHEILA LAXON - trotted roughly rounding the first bend.
KAMILLA - checked and broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
TINKERBELLE - checked by a breaking runner at the start unbalancing driver S Ottley in the sulky. Hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend. Trotted roughly in the run home.
Race 2   PI & GJ KENNARD BLOODSTOCK PACE
MIDNIGHT BABE - broke at the start losing ground. Weakened final bend.
INTERPOL - broke briefly at the start. Over-raced middle stages.
MORERE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
ULTIMATE COUNSEL - shifted outwards near the 750m and struck the sulky wheel of LOUIE VISTA which punctured. Driver J Morrison admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when shifting ground. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Morrison's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 17 May up to and including 23 May 2024 (2 days).
LOUIE VISTA - driver S Ottley reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
DON JUAN - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
CHOCO LOU - weakened final bend.
TOWER OF LOVE - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer G Court advised the gelding had benefited from a change in environment combined with a change in feeding and training regime and had performed well at a recent trial so he was not surprised by the result.
Race 3   TYRE GENERAL CANTERBURY PLAINS SERIES (HT 9) MOBILE PACE
ARCHIE - lay inwards under pressure final bend when weakening.
NOT REALLY BLONDE - over-raced middle stages. Paced roughly in the run home.
FOLLOW ME FANTASY - raced wide early.
LORD MUDRICK - driver C Butt was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
KINK - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
PHILADELPHIA FILLY - driver A Cameron was warned for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
APATCHOFGOLD - raced wide early.
VRILO - raced wide early.
SARGENT BEST - driver C Williamson reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running. Mrs Williamson was warned for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
FERNZ GOLDY - shifted outwards near the 800m and struck the sulky wheel of SARGENT BEST which punctured. Junior driver D Dolan, who declined assistance from a senior driver, admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly when shifting ground and after viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.
Race 4   NZB NATIONAL WEANLING SALES MOBILE PACE
SACETAS - trainer T Bagrie was issued a warning for being late to notify the gelding would be racing with removable deafeners. Over-raced middle stages.
BRUNTWOOD BRIGADE - paced roughly near the 100m. The spreader on the gelding broke during the running. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
BETTOR FORTUNE - over-raced middle stages. Weakened leaving the final bend.
Following this race the track was downgraded to Easy.
Race 5   LAMB & HAYWARD MOBILE TROT
ONE EL - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
DEM BONES DEM BONES - trainer B Hope advised the mare has had its joints treated since last racing.
GINAS MAJESTY - raced wide from the 1300m. Lay inwards and crowded an inside runner near the 1100m. Again lay inwards final bend crowding an inside runner. Notwithstanding this, driver I Cameron was issued a warning to make a greater effort to prevent his runner from shifting inwards.
LA DAMA - crowded near the 1100m by an outside runner. Again crowded by an outside runner rounding the final bend when weakening. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams advised the mare had raced lethargically throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
DOWNTOWN ORLANDO - raced wide early. Trotted roughly in the run home before breaking shortly after the finish line. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding was in the correct gait when its nose reached the finish line.
CRUISE LINER - weakened from the 700m. When questioned regarding the performance both trainer B Mowbray and driver S Tomlinson were disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Mr Mowbray advised he will have the gelding examined by his stable veterinarian in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
SHANDON BELLS - struck a track marker rounding the final bend when driver C Williamson was activating gear. Junior driver C Williamson was issued a warning. Mrs Williamson (assisted by M Williamson) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that she used her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mrs Williamson's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 18 May 2024 (2 days).
TOP POCKET CHANCE - broke after 100m losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 6   WOODLANDS WINNING WEANLINGS MOBILE PACE
BETS ON - raced wide early. Weakened from the 600m.
THE WELSH DRAGON -broke in the score up however was in position at the start. Raced wide early. Paced roughly in the run home.
AMBLESIDE DRIVE - over-raced middle stages.
DESTINY'S DREAM - hampered by a weakening runner near the 600m.
FLYING FOR ME - cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 7   GOLD BAND TAXIS MOBILE PACE
MILLIES SENSATION - paced roughly in the score up.
TANGANYIKA - paced roughly through the middle stages.
BETTOR LOVER - trainer B Hill advised the gelding has had its joints treated since last racing. Held up for clear racing room in the run home.
SKY ROCKET - broke briefly in the score up however was in position at the start. Driver R Close reported the gelding had hung inwards throughout the run home and he would be recommending gear changes.
DOCTOR TIM - held up early in the run home.
A DANCING ROCKA - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver C DeFilippi. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
