MASSIVE MERC - broke in the score up losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Trotted roughly and broke near the 600m losing considerable ground. Broke again near the 100m before settling just prior to the finish. Stewards lodged a protest against 3rd placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. After viewing the replays driver A Clark did not contest the protest and MASSIVE MERC was disqualified by the Stewards. | |
MAJOR DOOSIE - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Trotted roughly racing into the first bend losing ground. Again trotted roughly and broke passing the 1300m losing its chance. Authorisation of the promoted 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation during the running. |

Driver K Cameron defended a breach of Rule 869(7A)(c) alleging that he shifted inwards racing into the first bend causing BLACK MACH to be crowded and strike several track markers. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Cameron, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge. | |
