MAJESTIC MAN - attempted to pull up near the 2300m when leading resulting in a slight easing of the pace with MUSCLE MOUNTAIN shifting outwards in an attempt to lead. Stewards questioned driver J Cox regarding his decision to stay in front near the 2200m when pressured for the lead by favoured runner MUSCLE MOUNTAIN. Mr Cox advised that it was his intention to lead to ensure there was a strong tempo throughout which would suit his runner after MUSCLE MOUNTAIN had shown a tendency to ease the tempo when leading resulting in a sprint home. Mr Cox further added that he elected to take a trail when challenged for the lead by LOVE N THE PORT which had improved rapidly near the 1700m after having already worked hard through the early stages. | |
LOVE N THE PORT - when questioned regarding the performance driver M Williamson advised he was not disappointed given it was the gelding's second start back from a spell and would derive benefit from the race. | |
