Race 1   HANNAM / DOODY HANDICAP TROT
HENRIK LUNDQVIST - delayed the start briefly when becoming fractious. Raced clear in the lead over the early and middle stages. Broke briefly near the 550m. Weakened in the run home.
PLAY FOOTSIE - lay in rounding the turns and in particular approaching the 800m before commencing to weaken. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the mare's performance.
STORMS ACOMING - commenced to weaken near the 400m.
LOVE IS EVERYWHERE - Driver W House reported that he had not activated the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
TRIFOLIUM - broke at the start losing ground.
KISS MY PIXEL - Trainer G Martin advised Stewards that the mare would be racing in season.
ALANA - stood on the mark when the barriers were released and took no part. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners.
PRINCE ENVY - broke entering the first turn losing all chance.
Race 2   OUTBACK TRADING MOBILE PACE
TOMALOU - weakened final turn.
SWEET SPIRIT - hampered by a breaking runner near the 2000m.
RAKERO SCOTTY - hampered by a breaking runner near the 2000m. Weakened from the 900m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the gelding's performance.
TICKING OVER - broke near the 2000m hampering trailing runners losing ground. Weakened from the 900m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the gelding's performance.
AMELIA ROSE - late scratching at 8.01am due to an office error.
BARBAROSSA - hampered by a breaking runner near the 2000m.
BAILEYS PITCH - hampered by a breaking runner near the 2000m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
Race 3   T MARKET FRESH MOBILE PACE
MORERE - Driver W House reported that the sliding blinds and one deafener had failed to activate.
UNDER THE BOARDWALK - lay in rounding the final turn when attempting to improve and then weakened. Trainer/Driver N Chilcott advised that the filly had proved difficult rounding the final turn when locking on the outside rein. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
Race 4   CARTOWN COUNTRY CUP HANDICAP TROT
The start was delayed by approximately 7 minutes when SWEET OLIVIA reared and came down in the sulky of OUR PEGASUS PEARL unseating Driver A Poutama who was uninjured in this incident. SWEET OLIVIA underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Sent to the unruly position at the request of Driver D Butcher. A warning was placed on SWEET OLIVIA's barrier manners.
HUGHIE WALLACE - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
EAGLE HANOVER - broke near the 2200m losing ground.
SLAINTE - broke briefly at the start. Broke entering the first turn losing ground before settling. Broke again near the 600m losing its chance.
RUN FOREST RUN - stood on the mark then broke losing ground. Lay in and weakened from the 500m.
ALANA - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having competed in Race 1 and was cleared to start.
MANCHESTER IN TIME - broke near the 500m after having shifted CASTANA wider but soon settled.
DEL SHANNON - raced wide early and middle stages before crossing to the parked position near the 1600m.
Stewards extended further leniency in assessing horse penalties due to the delay to the start.
Race 5   ITM PALMERSTON NORTH MOBILE PACE
BENJAMIN BUTTON - held up until late in the run home.
FRANCO HOFFMAN - commenced to over-race middle stages before being taken three wide.
HAIL LUCIUS - performed below market expectations. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver A Poutama stated he had been disappointed with the effort on both days and it was his intention to freshen the gelding.
STANLEY'S RULE - raced wide with cover from the 1600m and without cover from the 1000m. Weakened final turn.
DOM TORETTO - over-raced middle stages.
BEAUDIENE QUICK STEP - held up throughout the run home.
CAULFIELD - raced wide with cover from the 1500m.
VICTOR BRAVO - back from position throughout the score up. Driver S Dickson was issued a warning. Held up throughout the run home.
Race 6   HAPPY RETIREMENT MIKE BERGER MOBILE PACE
COTE D'AZUR - shifted out late in the run home and momentarily came into contact with the sulky of BETTOR GRUNTER. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until Stewards viewed the replay of the final stages and questioned Driver T Mitchell (BETTOR GRUNTER - 2nd placing) who confirmed his chances had not been affected.
BEACH PARTY - over-raced middle stages when outside the leader. Weakened final turn.
QUICKSMART - lost ground rounding the final turn.
Race 7   "C A PENNY - PICK IT UP AND WIN" F&M MOBILE PACE
APPLE OF MY EYE - Trainer Z Meredith advised Stewards that the mare would be racing in season. Checked and broke when racing to the inside of DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER near the 450m losing its chance.
ROCKAFILLY - weakened final turn.
DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - obliged to race three wide without cover for a distance through the middle stages when unable to secure the parked position which was being held by ROCKAFILLY. Driver T Mitchell admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 450m when allowing his mare to shift inwards resulting in APPLE OF MY EYE being checked and breaking. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Mitchell's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 4 April up to and including 19 April 2024 (2 days).
MAHIA DREAMIN - Driver N Chilcott was warned for crossing her reins late in the run home and performing a celebratory gesture.
SUPERSTAR LEGEND - broke approaching the first turn losing ground before settling at the rear. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners.
Race 8   PALMERSTON NORTH FESTIVAL CUP HCP PACE
CLEAR LEFT - broke at the start hampering a trailing runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
HESASHORETHING - raced keenly when leading through the middle stages.
BAD MEDICINE - hampered by a breaking runner at the start when having to take evasive action.
WARLOCH - broke briefly at the start losing ground.
Race 9   HAPPY RETIREMENT PETER SIMONSEN MOBILE PACE
MILLION DOLLAR CHIC - lay in entering the first turn contacting track markers despite the efforts of Driver T Mitchell. Over-raced middle stages.
FREEDOM DASH - raced wide early.
ICE FAIRY - over-raced middle stages.
BLAZE MAGUIRE - pulled hard early stages before being taken forward three wide to reach the parked position near the 1400m. Weakened final turn.
Top
