Mr Milne explained that after beginning well his intention was to go forward however the gelding had dropped the bit and would not progress. Mr Milne added he was reluctant to restrain to the rear at this point as this would have meant going back several lengths so he opted to remain racing three wide in the hope that he would flush another runner out ahead and obtain cover, however this had failed to eventuate. After hearing from Mr Milne Stewards adjourned the matter to give it further consideration.
CAST A SHADOW - held up for a distance final bend.
FORTY WIVES - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner. Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination at the request of connections which revealed the gelding to have a minor laceration to the right hind fetlock which has been treated. STILL ROCKIN - Stewards questioned driver R Gutsell regarding the tactics he adopted in the early stages, in particular when persisting in a challenge for the lead from the 1600m for a distance of 1000m and not giving his runner any respite. After hearing the explanation tendered Stewards issued Mr Gutsell with a charge under Rule 869(3)(g), which was admitted, in that he drove in a manner capable of diminishing the chances of the gelding finishing in its best possible position. After viewing the replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Gutsell's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 25 March up to and including 27 April 2024 (7 days.)

After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Hurrell's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 28 March 2024 (2 days.)
HERB - improved wide from the 600m. When asked to comment on the performance driver R Close stated he was disappointed with the way the gelding had finished the race off. Trainer R Todd advised he would have blood tests conducted on HERB in the coming days which Stewards will follow up the results.
BOBBIES ROCK - over-raced middle stages. Over-raced again near the 400m and became awkwardly placed close to the sulky wheel of FLYING BIRD and when shifting out contacted the sulky wheel of that runner. In assessing this matter Stewards took into account that BOBBIES ROCK was over-racing at the time and took no further action other than to place a warning on the racing record of the gelding. Had to be steadied near the 60m when DAWSON shifted inwards. Following the race confirmation of placings was withheld until driver K Green had viewed the films in relation to a protest. After viewing the films and taking into consideration the margin at the post Miss Green elected not to proceed and placings were duly authorised.
