Race 1   SPEIGHTS TROT
PRACTICAL MAGIC - over-raced middle stages.
SIGNAL HILL - trainer B Hutton was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race without the notified blinds which were fitted prior to the start.
WEE WESTY - broke after 100m before switching to a pace and had to be broken up by driver B Orange hampering a trailing runner and losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
FORGIVENESS - hampered by a breaking runner after 100m. Hung outwards final bend losing ground.
SOLEMN SON - stood on the mark losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
FLORENCE THE MACHINE - slow to begin and trotted roughly over the early stages losing considerable ground.
Race 2   REEFTON SUPERVALUE/ GILSENAN FAMILY PACE
BROMAC TIMES - broke briefly shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
LAY ON MACDUFF - lay outwards leaving the final bend.
GIVE ME PEACE - raced greenly and broke briefly when racing over the crossing near the 2200m.

MIKRA WAVE - bounded at the start and broke losing ground.
ELEGANT ACHIEVER - broke near the 200m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.

Race 3   GREYMOUTH STAR TEAM TEAL DRIVERS' CHALLENGE TROT
NOAH MAGNIFIC - lay inwards final bend contacting several track markers which were dislodged.
SUPERFAST GORSEY - over-raced when held up rounding the final bend. Hampered by a breaking runner leaving the final bend.
GINAS MAJESTY - hampered by a breaking runner leaving the final bend.
MAKE MY DAY - raced wide early and middle stages. Over-raced middle stages when racing outside the leader. Broke leaving the final bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
TAKE AFTER ME - began awkwardly.
HIGH NOON - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
EYRE I WILL - driver S Ottley advised she did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
MOA MOJITO - raced wide without cover from the 800m. Broke leaving the final bend hampering trailing runners and losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
MAJESTIC WHISPER - hampered by a breaking runner and broke near the 170m losing all chance.
MENTALIST - hampered by a breaking runner leaving the final bend. Broke near 170m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 4   LANTERN COURT MOTEL MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared when COSMIC STAR broke in the score up hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver A Cameron elected to remain in her allocated barrier position for the restart.
COSMIC STAR - became awkwardly placed close to the back of the sulky of DEAN JAMES near the 200m and struck the sulky wheel which punctured. When questioned regarding this incident driver A Cameron advised that after activating the sliding blinds the horse had raced fiercely and had caused her steering difficulty resulting in contact being made. Stewards noted Miss Cameron's comments and advised her that notwithstanding this it was expected she exercise more care when shifting ground.
SAMVASA - over-raced middle stages when leading. When questioned regarding the improved performance driver J Curtin advised the gelding had been suited by being able to lead and dictate terms in front today.
DESTINY'S DREAM - over-raced when being restrained to obtain cover near the 1950m.
DEAN JAMES - driver L O'Reilly advised he sustained a punctured sulky tyre in the run home.
ALTA SHOWGIRL - weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised the mare had been making abnormal breathing noises. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Connections advised it was their intention to retire the mare.
Race 5   ATL ELECTRICAL REEFTON MOBILE PACE
WHAT A MINX - lay outwards near the 150m having to be straightened by driver B Orange. Mr Orange was warned for using his whip with his foot removed from the sulky footrest on one occasion in the run home.
SARASOTA SUNSET - over-raced middle stages.
MOUTON CADET - broke near the 2250m hampering trailing runners losing ground.
RITA - raced wide early. Weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver A Cameron advised in her opinion the mare had been unsuited by the distance of today's race.
KAWATIRI CREEK - hampered by a breaking runner near the 2250m. Lay in near the 2150m striking a track marker.
DENNIS DENUTO - over-raced middle stages.
DIVINE ANGEL - held up for clear racing room in the run home.
DESTINY DANCE - broke in the score up however was in its unruly position at the start. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 2250m. Over-raced middle stages.
Race 6   HOTEL REEFTON LIQUOR CENTRE TEAM TEAL PACE
ROTTEN RODDEN - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up early in the run home. Driver O Thornley advised she did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
MICHAEL EYRE - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
THE FINISHER - over-raced middle stages when in the parked position.
RAZORS EDGE - hampered by a breaking runner at the start.
ARNOLD LAYNE - broke at the start and shifted inwards hampering an inside runner.
RUBY'S A DELIGHT - over-raced middle stages.
Race 7   THE BROADWAY TEAROOMS & BAKERY MOBILE PACE
EDGE SHEERAN - broke just prior to the start checking a trailing runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
APATCHOFGOLD - over-raced middle stages.
MELANDO CHIEF - fractious prior to the start and reared and fell to the track. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
TANGANYIKA - checked by a breaking runner just prior to the start and broke losing all chance. Authorisation of placings was withheld until Stewards had reviewed replays of the start and spoken to Starter R Donnelly and driver J Morrison with the gelding being declared a non-runner under Rule 213(1)(j) due to being denied a fair start.
EXECUTIVE BANNER - lay outwards rounding the final bend placing an outside runner in restricted room. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination at the request of trainer R Houghton revealed lameness in the off hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
CHANGEAROUND - slow to leave the pre-race formation however was in position at the start.
NED KELLY - weakened from the 600m before breaking rounding the final bend when placed in restricted room.
Race 8   DAWSONS HOTEL (HANDICAP) TROT
ZSA ZOE - raced ungenerously near the 2000m resulting in a slight easing of the pace. Held up final bend.
MARTHA STUART - had to be steadied near the 2000m after a slight easing of the pace. Over-raced middle stages. Held up final bend and early in the run home.
PRINCE TEKA - broke racing into the first bend hampering trailing runners losing ground. Driver K Cameron was warned to take his runner clear of the field when in a break at the first available opportunity. Had to be steadied near the 1150m after being awkwardly placed close to the sulky of EL CONQUEROR.
BOYZ INVASION - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend. Had to be steadied near the 2000m after a slight easing of the pace.
ANNA'S BOY - had to be steadied near the 2000m after a slight easing of the pace. Faltered when returning to the stabling area following the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the left fore leg and was transported to the veterinary clinic in the Horse Ambulance. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
MUSCLE BANK - weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver S Thornley advised that the mare had worked hard in the middle stages and in his opinion may also be feeling the effects of recent racing.
Race 9   THE ELLEY CLAN TEAM TEAM DRIVERS CHALLENGE PACE
TO RI RUBY - broke at the start hampering a trailing runner losing ground.
SMART I AM - broke briefly at the start losing ground.
FOURTH AMENDMENT - broke at the start before being hampered shortly after by a breaking runner losing ground.
ULTIMATE COUNSEL - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Raced wide early.
FORD RULE - shifted inwards abruptly at the start and broke hampering inside runners losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Gave ground over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance connections advised the horse was racing up in grade and may not have backed up from racing on Friday.
BLUE ROCK DANCER - hampered by a breaking runner at the start.
Race 10   RECREATION HOTEL INANGAHUA GREY VALLEY HCP PACE
JUST ASK PADDY - broke at the start losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts. Driver S Thornley reported he was very disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T Thomas advised the gelding may not have backed up from racing on Friday.
GEORGIE ZUKOV - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
HELIUM - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
TEMPO WARRIOR - Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1500m when TEMPO WARRIOR raced wider on the track however after viewing the replays it was established that driver J Morrison (STANLEY'S RULE) had commenced to shift wider prior to TEMPO WARRIOR reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was required.
DASHING MAJOR - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 11   REEFTON "TOWN OF THE LIGHT" TEAM TEAL TROT
DIDJABRINGTHEBUBBLES - broke at the start before switching to a pace having to be broken up by driver K Butt losing all chance and was retired from the race.
MM SUNSHINE - lay outwards at various stages throughout. Hampered final bend by a weakening runner.
GAZZA BEATT - hampered final bend by a weakening runner.
OUR PEGASUS PEARL - lay inwards rounding the first bend. Hampered final bend by a weakening runner.
CRUISE LINER - late scratching at 7.30pm on 9 March on Veterinary advice.
NGAURUHOE - slow to begin and trotted roughly in the early stages losing ground. Weakened final bend hampering trailing runners.
Race 12   GRAEME EDWARS MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
EBURY STREET - held up early in the run home. Stewards questioned junior driver H Sail (assisted by R May) regarding the non activation of the removable deafeners. Mr Sail advised that the mare had been hampered when held up early in the run home and he was wary of the horse tending to lay outwards over the concluding stages. Notwithstanding this Mr Sail was reminded of his obligations to activate gear when a clear run exists and not to leave his drives open to query in future. When assessing this matter Stewards took into account Mr Sail's limited race day experience.
JUDGEMENT BAY - the anti-choke device shifted during the running. Lay outwards on several occasions despite the efforts of driver S Thornley. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
HOPE FOR LOVE - raced wide early.
ABSOLUTE DYNAMITE - raced wide early.
BONDI LUSTRE - lay inwards near the 1400m striking a track marker.
BEEPS - held up early in the run home.
MARY LOU - weakened rounding the final bend.
