When questioned regarding the performance driver G O'Reilly advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Co-trainer G Dunn advised he will have blood tests conducted on the gelding in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results. | |

WHATABLAZE - when questioned regarding the improved performance driver J Hay advised the gelding had been racing without luck in recent starts and had been able to capitalise on a good draw and economical run tonight. | |
LONE WOLF - held up early and middle stages of the run home. Stewards questioned driver S O'Reilly regarding the tactics she adopted on the final bend and early in the run home when electing to shift inwards in search of clear running. Miss O'Reilly advised the gelding had hung inwards when she had attempted to shift wider on the track near the 450m and again leaving the final bend causing her difficulty so she felt her best option was to shift ground inwards and obtain an inside run. After considering Miss O'Reilly's explanation and viewing the replays along with taking into account the racing manners of the gelding, Stewards took the matter no further. | |
