FLYING SCOTSMAN - broke shortly after the start and galloped for a considerable distance losing ground. Over-raced middle stages. | |
ALDEBARAN PIPPI - the boring pole was removed prior to the start after failing to warm up favourably. Broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. | |

A warning was placed on the gelding's racing performance. |

Hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first turn. Commenced to weaken from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. When questioned regarding the performance Co-trainer/Driver D Ferguson stated that the gelding had raced lethargically throughout and could offer no explanation for the disappointing run. MCKENDRICK - Driver J Dunn was issued with a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he shifted inwards forcing HAMPTON down onto track markers approaching the first turn causing that runner to break losing all chance with resultant interference to trailing runners. Mr Dunn indicated that he would defend the charge and the matter was adjourned sine die by the Adjudicative Committee. | |

When questioned Driver J Dickie advised that the gelding normally wore a boring pole but the ring on the pole halter had become detached in the stabling area so he had little option other than to use a rein burr but this had not had the desired effect with this runner hanging at various stages. A final warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. | |

When spoken to regarding the performance Driver T Mitchell stated that he was disappointed with the run even after having been forced to race wide. KISS AND RUN - raced keenly middle stages. Weakened in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance Driver P Ferguson could offer no explanation for the disappointing run. Stewards will follow up with Trainer J Stevens in the coming days. | |
JASINOVA - Driver L Chin admitted a charge under Rule 869(4) and the Home Straight Regulations in that he allowed his mare to shift into the passing lane in the final 100m. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Dr Chin's Driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 1 March 2024 (3 days). When questioned Dr Chin advised that a recent gear change of replacing an overcheck bit with a chinrest had been beneficial with the desired improvement in the mare's manners. | |
SUNNYS SISTER - when questioned regarding the performance Driver J Dunn stated that the race had not been run to suit as he had been forced four and five wide when attempting to improve down the back straight the final time, but had been satisfied with the manner in which the mare had finished on over the final stages. | |
SACRED MOUNTAIN - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1300m having to take evasive action which resulted in MELSADELE being forced to race wider on the track. |

LIAISON - Driver D Butcher was questioned regarding his apparent lack of vigour throughout the run home. Mr Butcher advised that LIAISON had wanted to shift up the track as was this runner's normal tendency which placed him at some disadvantage. He further explained that the gelding had all but galloped rounding the final turn at its previous start first up from a spell so he had been reluctant to place the horse under undue pressure. Mr Butcher's comments were duly noted. |
