OUR PEGASUS PEARL - Driver D Morrison was shown the replay and reminded of his obligation to drive his horse out fully to the end of the race. In considering this matter, Stewards took into account that Mr Morrison did not carry a whip with this runner and the mare was being comfortably held by the winner MR MONTY. Mr Morrison advised he would be adding a whip for the second day.
TRIFOLIUM - broke briefly at the start losing ground.
KISS MY PIXEL - broke rounding the first turn losing all chance. A final warning was placed on the racing manners of the mare.

NGAURUHOE - when questioned regarding the performance Driver W House could offer no tangible explanation.
Race 3   DOUG BRADLEY PAINTERS MOBILE PACE
CONOR MCGREGOR - lay in and struck a track marker near the 1200m. Weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver J Abernethy could offer no explanation for the disappointing run after having been able to set its own terms in front throughout. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormality.
MISS WOODVILLE - unable to maintain its position late in the score up despite the efforts of Driver A Pyers. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier manners. Mr Pyers was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
PENNYS FIRST FLIGHT - weakened in the run home.
Race 4   CARTOWN MOBILE PACE
SECRETS ABOUND - broke near the 80m and failed to regain its correct gait. Stewards lodged a protest against this runner's 2nd placing under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. Driver J Dickie did not contest the protest and SECRETS ABOUND was disqualified by the Stewards. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
SHARKNTATTIES - commenced to over-race entering the back straight the first time when challenged by NAROBI. Driver J Abernethy reported that only one sliding blind activated despite his efforts.

INVISIBLE - Trainer M Berger was issued with a warning for presenting the gelding without the notified blind.
DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - when questioned regarding the performance Driver C Hackett stated that the mare had been unable to make up much leeway when attempting to improve wide rounding the final turn due to the fast-closing sectionals recorded.
Race 6   KEVIN & SHIRLEY FARRIER MOBILE PACE
SUPERSTAR LEGEND - Driver B Orange reported he did not activate the deafeners due to having the field covered.
BENJAMIN BUTTON - contacted the sulky wheel of UNCLE DREW near the 400m and broke losing all chance. Driver J Dickie was issued with a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging that he drove carelessly in this incident. The matter was adjourned to be heard on the second day, Thursday 15 February.

Race 8   RACING AGAIN THURSDAY MOBILE PACE
OCEANIC ART - raced greenly near the 2000m before crossing to the lead. Weakened rounding the final turn. Trainer M Berger advised that he would consider making a gear change for the second day.
EDDIE OSEI - over-raced middle stages.
SANTANNA MACH - Driver N Delany will be spoken to in the coming days regarding the manner he used his whip in the run home.

A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
BARBAROSSA - raced wide with cover from the 1350m before being taken forward four wide near the 600m.
BAILEYS PITCH - over-raced middle stages. Hung inwards rounding the final bend placing Driver B Orange in some difficulty before weakening.
WINEMEUP - when questioned regarding the performance Driver J Dickie could only attribute the disappointing run to the mare possibly not being suited by the longer distance of the event.
