Race 1   HORORATA TC PAST COMMITTEE MEMBERS MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
OCEAN BREEZE - driver G O'Reilly was warned for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
FREEDOMS BEAUTY - over-raced middle stages. Hung outwards for a distance passing the 700m causing driver K Butt some difficulty. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Miss Butt advised she would be recommending gear changes.
RURAL CASH - weakened from the 600m.
DEAN JAMES - when asked to comment on the performance driver L O'Reilly could offer no tangible explanation.
Race 2   PETER CRAIG MEMORIAL TROT
BEVRON - momentarily placed in the passing lane near the 250m. Driver R Holmes was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
DANCING GLENIS - paced at the start and then broke losing all chance. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer R Anderson.
PORTELLI - broke near the 650m losing all chance.
ROLLIE IN SHOT - stood on the mark losing all chance. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts.
BRIGHTMAN - slow over the early stages.
TOP OF THE HILL - broke at the start losing ground.
ONE EL - lay inwards placing an inside runner in the passing lane momentarily near the 250m and then continued to lay inwards for the remainder of the run home.
Following the race Stewards reviewed the start in relation to the positioning of ONE EL and were satisfied the gelding had not started in advance of its Unruly position due to several runners on the front row being back from their position.
Race 3   RAKAIA SEED CLEANING PACE
I SPY DIAMONDS - paced roughly shortly after the start having to be steadied. Over-raced middle stages when leading.
CHAMPAGNE NEN - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start.
SAMVASA - broke after 100m losing ground. Held up throughout the run home. Authorisation of this runner's 4th placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when breaking in the early stages.
Race 4   NUFARM NZ LTD FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
SOMACHBETTOR - lay inwards in the score up and was out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S O'Reilly. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
NORWEST FRANCO - over-raced middle stages.
KAWATIRI CREEK - out of position at the start. Driver R May was issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to maintain his barrier position.
LOURETTA - broke in the score up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Held up early in the run home.
Race 5   JOHN MORRISON FARRIER, KEN McRAE , DAVE McHUGH TROT
ROYAL YANKEE - lay inwards near the 1800m striking a track marker. Lay inwards again near the 1200m striking several track markers.
BULLIT TRAIN - trotted roughly early.
DIEDRE FRANCO - raced wide early.
EYE LOVE YOU - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Weakened from the 600m. Hung inwards when weakening rounding the final bend.
OPAWA PEAK - raced wide early.
BELLA LINDENNY - Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination at the request of driver J Morrison which revealed no abnormalities.
BONEY M - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1200m.
COSMIC ANGEL - over-raced middle stages. Driver J Cox reported the mare had over-raced at various stages during the running.
LUCINDA HEST - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
A LATE LATE PRESSY - had to be steadied near the 1400m when there was a slight easing of the pace.
CAPPAHA - held up early stages of the run home.
KOWHAI SUMMIT - had to be steadied near the 1400m when there was a slight easing of the pace. Trotted roughly on several occasions and broke passing the 400m losing all chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a high heart rate, slow recovery and low-grade lameness in the right hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 6   LOT 205 BETTORS DELIGHT-KIWI INGENUITY/REVELL DOUGLAS PACE
BLUE ROCK DANCER - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced middle stages. Hampered for a distance by a weakening runner near the 1100m. Checked by an inside runner near the 600m and broke after locking sulky wheels with ABSOLUTE DYNAMITE.
ARNOLD LAYNE - hampered for a distance by a weakening runner from the 1100m. Hampered again near the 600m by a breaking runner.
ABSOLUTE DYNAMITE - began awkwardly. Hampered for a distance by a weakening runner near the 1100m. Checked and broke near the 600m and then locked sulky wheels with BLUE ROCK DANCER.
ULTIMATE COUNSEL - hampered for a distance by a weakening runner near the 1100m.
COUNTRY GOLD - broke at the start hampering a trailing runner and losing considerable ground. Lay inwards near the 600m checking inside runners with ABSOLUTE DYNAMITE and BLUE ROCK DANCER locking wheels. Stewards questioned junior drivers R Harrison (ABSOLUTE DYNAMITE) and H Sail regarding this incident. After hearing from both drivers and notwithstanding the gelding had been laying in junior driver H Sail, assisted by senior driver J Dunn, was warned for the manner he drove at this stage.
ON REPORT - commenced to weaken from the 1100m hampering trailing runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled. Stood down for the mandatory period of 30 days with connections advised a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination prior to completing a satisfactory trial would be required prior to the gelding resuming.
SCARLETT'S LEGACY - paced roughly shortly after the start.
VINCENT VEGA - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Over-raced and had to be steadied near the 1500m. Weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a high heart rate, slow recovery and to be lame in the right hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 7   BAYER NZ LTD MOBILE PACE
GET IT ON - held up for clear racing room in the middle stages of the run home.
KNOCKSHANBALLY - lay outwards in the run home and shifted up the track. When asked to comment on the improved performance trainer/driver S Thornley advised that after taking over the training he had freshened the gelding and it had been working well in the lead up to racing today.
KILAUEA - when questioned regarding the performance driver S Ottley could offer no tangible explanation.
JUST MICHAEL - over-raced early stages.
PRIDES CONTESSA - paced roughly racing into the first bend losing ground.
STRIKE ME HANDSOME - raced wide without cover from the 1200m. Weakened from the 400m.
Race 8   GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND HORORATA CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
A false start was declared at the first attempt when the 20m barrier strand failed to release.
ASIAN ELVIS - weakened final bend.
TOPAZ - held up early in the run home.
OUTAMYWAY - lay outwards having to be steadied when there was a slight easing of the pace near the 1000m and contacted the sulky wheel of BUCKSKIN.
FOURTH AMENDMENT - fractious prior to the start.
CHRIS KYLE - stood on the mark and reared losing all chance. Stood down to complete one standing start trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
LESTER - held up early in the run home.
KISS THE GIRLS - raced wide from the 1000m. When asked to comment on the performance driver D White advised the gelding had traveled well into the race however failed to respond when placed under pressure.
BUCKSKIN - lay inwards near the 1200m striking track markers. Driver S O'Reilly reported she had sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 1000m when there was an easing of the pace.
JIMMY JAMES MAGUIRE - connections advised the gelding has been treated for a blood disorder and a laceration since last racing.
Race 9   FIONA STUART MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
FLYAWAY - raced wide early.
SARGENT BEST - raced wide early.
TANE J J - over-raced when wide early. Continued to over-race through the middle stages. Held up throughout the run home.
RADIOACTIVE JAFFA - held up early stages of the run home. Stewards questioned driver J Morrison in relation to the final stages where EDDIE JAMES had shifted inwards slightly close to the winning post. Mr Morrison advised his chances had not been affected with all placings duly authorised.
KRYSTAL DELIGHT - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
ITZ MAGICAL MEG - over-raced early and middle stages. Held up early in the run home.
FRANCO TIM - raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages.
Race 10   UPL LIMITED HANDICAP TROT
TAKE AFTER ME - broke near the 1900m before switching to a pace, hampering a trailing runner and losing all chance being retired from the event by driver J Morrison. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
JASPRIT TROUBLE - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
WESTAR MILLY - broke at the start losing ground.
MUSCLYNN - connections advised the mare would be racing in season.
THE ROYAL GAMBLE - held up leaving the final bend.
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1900m.
HERE COMES JANE - broke after 100m. Stood down to complete one standing start trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
SON OF PATRICK - trainer M House was warned for failing to have the correct colours available. Broke near the 1000m losing all chance.

HAYLEY'S MEDDLE - held up early and middle stages of the run home.

MAJOR HAPPY - raced wide from the 1100m. Shifted inwards placing an inside runner in restricted room near the 200m. Driver K Newman was warned to ensure he shows more control of his runners when allowing his horse to shift inwards at this point.
