Trainer S Branch advised Stewards on 03 February that ITBETTERBENOW has had its knees and stifles treated since having last raced.

Race 10 - TARANAKI STEELFORMERS STRATFORD CUP (HCP PACE)
Junior driver L Hibell (VILLAGE REBEL), assisted by S Abernethy, admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that she used her whip in a continuous manner in the run home. After hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a $300 fine.

Race 1   TURFWORKZ HANDICAP TROT
The start was delayed due to the front barrier requiring attention.
MR MONTY - when spoken to regarding the performance of the gelding Trainer S Doody advised that this runner had not backed up from the first day.
HENRIK LUNDQVIST - reared just prior to the barriers being released then broke at the start hampering an outside runner. Continued on in a strong gallop early losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Broke again near the 400m losing all chance.
JEWEL ELLERY - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Broke approaching the first bend losing all chance and was retired from the event.
GOTTA TICKET - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
KISS MY PIXEL - broke approaching the first bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
TRIFOLIUM - broke briefly at the start.
CARLEY MAGUIRE - hampered near the 600m then switched to a pace losing all chance.
KEEP IT KLASSY - lay inwards on various stages. Trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
CASHEM - broke approaching the 600m when leading hampering a trailing runner losing all chance.
Race 2   TIKA CAFE & CATERING/I PLEX PIPELINES HANDICAP TROT
LOVE IS EVERYWHERE - when questioned regarding the performance Driver W House could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
COOL PHELAN - broke shortly after the start losing all chance and was retired from the event. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners.
EAGLE HANOVER - shifted outwards passing the 400m when Driver D Grundmann was activating gear hampering outside runners. Mr Grundmann, assisted by J Abernethy, admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee issued a fine of $300.
PRINCE ENVY - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Hampered near the 400m.
PHOEBE MAJESTIC - pre-race warmed. Broke briefly shortly after the start losing ground. Held up early stages of the run home.
SLAINTE - over-raced middle stages. Hampered near the 400m. Broke briefly near the 150m losing ground. Trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
ALANA - stood on the mark losing all chance and was retired from the event. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners.
JOHNNY WHO - slow early. Hampered near the 400m.
Race 3   EGMONT PLUMBING & GAS LTD MOBILE PACE
TRUCKING ON - broke shortly after the start and stumbled losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Hampered near the 1300m. Raced wide with cover from the 1000m. Weakened final bend.
LOUIE V TONNE - weakened final bend.
SHARKNTATTIES - weakened final bend.
BLAZE MAGUIRE - broke early in the score up losing considerable ground. Placed on the unruly for future mobiles. Weakened from the 900m. A warning was placed on the gelding's performance.
DOM TORETTO - hampered and broke near the 1300m when being steadied after there was an easing of the pace, checking a trailing and outside runner losing ground. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied that the horse had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
CARRERA SUNSHINE - lay outwards near the 1850m briefly locking stays with COSMIC STAR. Checked by a breaking runner and broke near the 1300m soon settling.
COSMIC STAR - briefly locked stays with CARRERA SUNSHINE near the 1850m. Raced wide without cover from the 1300m.
TOMALOU - lay outwards late in the run home shifting DOM TORETTO wider with Driver M White (DOM TORETTO) advising his chances had not been effected. Driver N Chilcott was warned to make a better effort to maintain a straight course in the run home in future.
Race 4   ROUGH HABITS RESTAURANT & BAR MOBILE PACE
PENNYS FIRST FLIGHT - hampered and broke entering the first bend checking trailing runners losing all chance.
RESURRECTION - commenced to weaken near the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Driver R Fensom admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly entering the first bend when shifting ground inwards which tightened EXHILARATE down on to PENNYS FIRST FLIGHT which broke resulting in interference to trailing runners. After hearing the relative evidence and viewing the replays the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Fensom's Driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including the 15 February 2024 (3 days).
SHEZA MERMAID - raced wide early and middle stages. Driver N Chilcott was issued a warning for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
RHYTHM MAKER - weakened final bend.
MICKY WADE - checked by breaking runners first bend losing ground.
MISS WOODVILLE - checked by a breaking runner and broke entering the first bend losing all chance.
PERUN - raced wide early and middle stages. Driver B Mangos admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Mangos' Driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on the 9 February up to and including 15 February 2024 (2 days).
CHALLENGER - checked by breaking runners first bend. Over-raced middle stages when being steadied to take cover.
IGETAKICKOUTOFYOU - checked by a breaking runner entering the first bend losing all chance.
Race 5   MUDGWAY DECORATORS LTD HANDICAP TROT
The start was delayed when the field was turned out of line due to several runners becoming fractious.
KIMKAR DASH - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Broke again racing over the crossing near the 1600m losing its chance.
MANCHESTER IN TIME - broke near the 650m losing ground.
RUN FOREST RUN - pre-raced warmed. Fractious when called forward on to the barrier and was sent to the outside unruly position delaying the start. Broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Broke rounding the final bend losing all chance.
THE RIVER BOY - fractious prior to the start and broke shortly after losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Broke again racing into the first bend losing all chance.
WINNERS TIME - broke at the start losing all chance and was placed at a disadvantage when the strap on the breast plate become detached and trailed the field.
ULTIMATE MOMENT - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Weakened near the 600m. A warning was placed on the gelding's performance.
BREAK FREE - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
Race 6   HYGAIN REVELL DOUGLAS MEMORIAL SERIES HEAT 3 MOB PACE
QUICKSMART - placed in restricted room and contacted a track marker racing into the first bend. Over-raced through the middle stages. Held up early in the run home.
NORVIC CHARLIE - lay inwards racing into the first bend placing inside runners in restricted room.
AVENGER - when questioned regarding the performance Driver W House advised that the gelding had to work hard in the early stages when unsuccessfully attempting to lead near the 1600m and then lost momentum when being held up final bend, he furthered stated he was not overly disappointed with the run.
MAHIA DREAMIN - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Broke briefly racing over the crossing near the 1600m losing ground.
SMOKINHOTCHEDDAR - lay inwards racing into the first bend.
NO ADDED SUGAR - placed in restricted room racing into the first bend and paced roughly.
BENJAMIN BUTTON- weakened in the run home.
Race 7   ALABAR HAWERA CUP HANDICAP PACE
WHOOSHKA - broke briefly at the start and shifted inwards hampering trailing runners losing ground. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. Over-raced middle stages.
JOHNNY MAC - checked and broke shortly after the start but soon settled. Weakened rounding the final bend.
IDOLOU - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start having to take evasive action checking an inside runner.
HOORAY HENRY - stood on the mark hampering a trailing runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
BAD MEDICINE - broke briefly near the 600m when hanging outwards after unsuccessfully attempting to shift a runner wider on the track losing ground.
FERNLEIGH CASH - driver J Dickie reported that the shortening cord became entangled around the back connecting strap.

VOODOO PRINCE - broke briefly at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
BET ON STEPH - raced wide early.
LAMARLI - driver W House reported that he didn't activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
Race 9   REVITAL FERTILISERS TARANAKI CUP MOBILE PACE
Starter G Phillips inadvertently activated the red light at the start point. Stewards reviewed the start and deemed no runners were disadvantaged due to this.
LORD DELMAR - paced roughly in the score up. Broke just prior to the start hampering a trailing runner and settled at the rear. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Over-raced early and middle stages. Weakened in the run home.
VICTOR BRAVO - over-raced middle stages.
JACCKA COOPER - hampered late in the score up and was marginally out of position at the start. Stewards were satisfied that this did not materially prejudice the gelding's chances. Weakened in the run home.
