Race 6 - CRATE & BARREL LEESTON TROT
Driver T Grant (GEORGE ELIOT) defended a breach of Rule 868(2) alleging he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to win or obtain the best possible finishing place by failing to show sufficient vigour throughout the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing the evidence the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge.

Race 10 - CLUB WAIMEA PACE
Connections advised Stewards on 1 February that a veterinary examination of BLUE ROCK DANCER by the stable's veterinarian revealed no abnormalities with the gelding continuing with its current preparation.

Trainer B Lomas advised Stewards on 1 February that blood tests taken from THE GARDENER'S PRIDE failed to detect any abnormalities with the mare continuing its current preparation.

Connections advised Stewards on 1 February that bloods tests taken from AARDIE B MIKI failed to detect any abnormality and they will be continuing with the filly's current preparation.

Trainer B Hope advised Stewards on 1 February that REFINE has recovered well from its last start and will be continuing with its current preparation.

Race 3 - KAIAPOI CLUB PACE
Driver M Smolenski (HENRY WINKLER) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Smolenski's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 2 February up to and including 11 February 2024 (3 days).
Race 9 - NEW BRIGHTON CLUB MOBILE PACE
Connections advised Stewards on 1 February that THREEBEERSDEEP has recovered well since its last start and they will continue with the gelding's current preparation.
Trainer M Jones advised Stewards on 1 February that MAYSON SHARD has been treated for a mild respiratory infection and will be freshened prior to resuming.

BALTIMORE JILL - over-raced middle stages.
LET'S GO RINGO - hung inwards and struck track markers near the 1100m. Driver A Cameron reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 1250m.
EASTWOOD DREAM - lay inwards throughout the run home. Driver S O'Reilly reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 1250m.
FLYAWAY - over-raced for a distance in the middle stages before breaking near the 1250m after striking the sulky wheel of EASTWOOD DREAM despite the efforts of driver S Thornley losing all chance. A final warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination after driver S Thornley advised the mare had paced roughly during the running which revealed a minor abrasion to the near front heel.
FERNZ GOLDY - driver J Morrison reported a sulky tyre deflated during the running.
STRIKE ME HANDSOME - over-raced middle stages and struck the sulky wheel of LET'S GO RINGO near the 1250m despite the efforts of driver G Hunt. Weakened from the 700m. Mr Hunt was issued a warning for using his whip when out of contention. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Hunt advised in his opinion the gelding may have choked down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 2   HYDROFLOW TROT
GRETTYMAC - fractious prior to the start.
SPECIAL EFFECTS - weakened final bend.
THE CHASE - lay outwards and trotted roughly in the run home.
BELLA LINDENNY - broke after 150m losing all chance.
HERE COMES JANE - broke at the start and shifted inwards despite the efforts of driver C Thornley checking trailing runners and losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
HIGH NOON - lay inwards passing the 1100m losing ground despite the efforts of driver S Whatuira.
READY SET JET - checked by a breaking runner shortly after the start and broke losing all chance.
DOWNTOWN ORLANDO - checked by a breaking runner shortly after the start losing ground.
BONEY M - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced wide from the 800m. Weakened final bend.
Race 3   WOODLANDS STUD STANDOUT SEVEN MOBILE PACE
MILITARY GIRL - hung inwards near the 900m and struck several track markers losing ground. Again hung inwards near the 500m striking track markers. Weakened final bend.
MELODY ARDEN - over-raced throughout. Paced roughly near the 500m after becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky of MILITARY GIRL. Weakened final bend. Driver S Ottley reported the mare had been striking its sulky wheels throughout.
THE BETTOR MAJOR - back from the unruly position at the start. Weakened final bend.
Race 4   RENWICK FARMS FREE-FOR-ALL STAND TROT
PRINCE TEKA - weakened final bend.
OSCAR BONAVENA - pre-race warmed. Driver N Rasmussen advised she did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
EL CONQUEROR - trotted roughly and broke near the 400m losing its chance.
Race 5   MATT HARRISON CONSTRUCTION MOBILE PACE
BONDI LUSTRE - weakened from the 300m hampering trailing runners.
KING ARTHUR - trainer J Gray advised the gelding has had its hocks treated since last racing. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Gray advised the horse was having its first start back for six weeks with the gelding peaking on its run inside the final 300m and he expected it would derive considerable benefit from the race.
MIGHTY REACTOR - over-raced early and middle stages.
SKY VALE - held up final bend.
TOBY TOM B - raced wide early.
WALLFLOWER - raced wide early.
FUSION REACTOR - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver J Dunn. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
ARIZONAWILDCAT - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 300m.
LOUIS - broke after 100m losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Weakened from the 500m.
SOPHIA BROMAC - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 300m.
Race 6   BRECKON FARMS CHECK OUR 2024 DRAFT MOBILE PACE
WATERMELON SUGAR - held up leaving the final bend.
FERNETTI - weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver C Dalgety advised he was disappointed with the effort and was unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. The connections advised they will have blood tests taken from the gelding in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
HEY BARTENDER - briefly locked wheels with MIGHTY LOOEE which lay inwards near the 550m. Driver J Stormont will be spoken to regarding the manner in which he used his whip in the run home.
MIGHTY LOOEE - lay in on the bends. Shifted up the track near the 800m when leading which allowed HEY BARTENDER to improve to its inside. Junior driver R Harrison (assisted by B Orange) was shown the replays and reprimanded for the manner in which she drove at this stage for her lack of control. Lay inwards near the 550m briefly locking wheels with HEY BARTENDER.
Race 7   GARRARDS PACE
PIONEER - reared as the start was effected and broke losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
DONTTELLTHEBOYS - began awkwardly. Held up final bend and early in the run home.
MILLWOOD GODDESS - driver J Dunn advised the mare had raced greenly at various stages so he elected not to activate the hopple shorteners.
HENRY WINKLER - weakened passing the 1100m and was retired from the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a possible displacement of the soft palate. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
MEMORIES N HEAVEN - lay outwards throughout the run home.
I SPY DIAMONDS - checked near the 250m and paced roughly losing ground.
ARMINIUS - held up final bend.
CHEEKY RED - shifted ground outwards near the 250m checking I SPY DIAMONDS. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards had spoken to driver S O'Reilly (I SPY DIAMONDS) placed 5th, to ascertain whether she wished to lodge a protest against CHEEKY RED (L McCormick) after being checked by that runner leaving the final bend. Miss O'Reilly declined the opportunity to proceed with a protest with all placings being authorised. Driver L McCormick defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly leaving the final bend when allowing his horse to shift outwards resulting in I SPY DIAMONDS being checked. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr McCormick the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and Mr McCormick's driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing on 16 February up to and including 22 February 2024 (2 days).
Race 8   TK PLASTERING MOBILE TROT
LA DAMA - driver T Williams reported the mare cast the off hind shoe in the early stages. Weakened from the 500m.
GINAS MAJESTY - hampered by a weakening runner near the 600m. Briefly switched to a pace near the 500m after being shifted wider on the track by an inside runner.
LOOKSLIKEATRIXTER - raced three wide until reaching the parked position near the 900m. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 600m.
SODS LAW - held up final bend. Broke passing the 200m losing all chance.
ORLANDO EXPRESS - raced wide early.
REGAL SIERRA - raced wide early.
WY FI - raced three wide with cover until reaching the parked position near the 700m. Weakened sharply near the 600m hampering trailing runners. When questioned regarding the performance trainer T Bagrie advised that he was very disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with Mr Bagrie in the coming days.
BROTHER LOVE - weakened final bend.
Race 9   GOLD BAND TAXIS MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared when LILAC LUXURY broke in the score up checking trailing runners. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Driver S O'Reilly elected to remain in her allocated barrier position for the restart.
LILAC LUXURY - raced greenly rounding the first bend resulting in a slight easing of the pace with the trailing BUILT FOR GLORY being hampered. Driver S O'Reilly reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre rounding the first bend.
CYREN SHARD - the required veterinary clearance was received. Raced wide early. Broke rounding the final bend losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
MOMENTS LIKE THIS - broke shortly after the start losing all chance and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Attended to by the Veterinarian immediately after the race and was found to be lame in the off hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
BUILT FOR GLORY - hampered rounding the first bend after a slight easing of the pace with the colt striking the sulky wheel of LILAC LUXURY despite the efforts of driver T Williams. Paced roughly rounding the final bend.
