Race 1   HOT FRIDAYS BAR & EATERY/ROWAN FARMS HANDICAP TROT
JEWEL ELLERY - broke at the start and refused to move hampering trailing runners and lost all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners.
HENRIK LUNDQVIST - pre-race warmed. Broke shortly after the start and continued on in a strong gallop for some distance losing all chance.
THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT - broke negotiating the crossing by the 1600m losing ground. Checked by a breaking runner near the 400m and contacted track markers losing ground.
KISS MY PIXEL - broke near the 400m hampering and checking trailing runners. Stewards were satisfied that Driver G Martin did not have sufficient opportunity to take his breaking runner clear of the field due to trailing runners improving to his outside. Broke again near the 200m losing its chance.
CASHEM - broke at the start and was then hampered by a breaking runner shortly after, losing considerable ground. Hampered again by a breaking runner near the 400m. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer F Mitchell.
GOTTA TICKET - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Broke racing into the first bend losing ground.
TRIFOLIUM - broke briefly at the start. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 400m.
PRESIDENT FLYNNTIN - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Cast a shoe during the running. Authorisation of this runner's 4th placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when breaking shortly after the start. Connections advised they would be adding half hopples to the gelding for the second day.
CARLEY MAGUIRE - connections advised the mare would be racing in season. Trainer T Briskie was warned for presenting CARLEY MAGUIRE without the correct saddlecloth. Weakened final turn.
KEEP IT KLASSY - trotted roughly and then broke near the 1200m losing all chance.

TAYLAD TO USE - broke when negotiating the crossing near the 1600m hampering trailing runners and lost ground. Weakened in the run home.
EAGLE HANOVER - pre-race warmed. Trotted roughly early stages losing ground. Raced wide from the 1000m. Shifted wider near the 400m when Driver D Grundmann was activating the deafeners. Mr Grundmann, assisted by J Abernethy, was warned for his lack of control in this incident.
STORMS ACOMING - began awkwardly. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1600m. Dislodged a track marker when briefly placed in restricted room by a breaking runner near the 500m.
SLAINTE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1600m. Hampered again by a breaking runner near the 600m. Trotted roughly over the final stages and could not be driven out.
PHOEBE MAJESTIC - pre-race warmed. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1600m.
PRINCE ENVY - broke at the start. Broke again near the 500m and lost all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
ALANA - broke near the 600m briefly hampering a trailing runner losing ground. Broke again near the 200m.

LORD DELMAR - lay in early in the run home. Driver W House reported that the deafeners failed to activate despite his efforts.
MAPUA MISSIE - lay outwards in the score up and was marginally out of position at the start.
THE FINISHER - broke approaching the winning post on the first occasion and lost ground.
Race 4   REARDON TRANSPORT/AGRIFEEDS MOBILE PACE
DOM TORETTO - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the horse's barrier manners. Raced wide from the 1300m when unable to secure the position outside the leader which was being held by IGETAKICKOUTOFYOU. Paced roughly rounding the bend near the 800m losing ground. Authorisation of this runner's 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied DOM TORETTO had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when breaking shortly after the start.
LOUIE V TONNE - weakened final bend.
RHYTHM MAKER - paced roughly for a distance shortly after the start then broke losing ground. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. Weakened in the run home.
IGETAKICKOUTOFYOU - broke when negotiating the crossing near the 1600m losing ground.

ONETANGI GIRL - when questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer/Driver J Abernethy advised that he had changed the mare's training regime and that she had trialed well leading into today's event.

CARRERA SUNSHINE - connections advised the mare has been treated for dehydration since last racing. Over-raced middle stages.
Race 6   HYGAIN REVELL DOUGLAS MEMORIAL SERIES HEAT 2 MOB PACE
QUICKSMART - over-raced middle stages.
THE MIGHTY SULLY - lay in approaching the first turn and paced roughly for several strides. Raced wide early stages. Weakened rounding the final turn. When questioned regarding the performance Driver S Burley expressed disappointment and could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Trainer M White advised Stewards on 3 February that although he had initially intended not racing on the 2nd day, he had changed his mind after the gelding had recovered well and scoped clear. Mr White further advised that he could only attribute the disappointing run to having had to work to secure the lead in the prevailing blustery conditions.
MAHIA DREAMIN - Driver L Hibell was warned for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion and in a continuous manner in the run home.
SMOKINHOTCHEDDAR - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1600m.
BENJAMIN BUTTON - slow to leave the pre-race circle and was back from its second row position at the start. Broke when negotiating the crossing near the 1600m hampering a trailing runner and lost all chance.

JAZZY STYX - when questioned regarding the performance Driver W House advised that the mare had only battled in the run home after having done some work early to hold the lead.
BARBAROSSA - locked sulky stays briefly with BEACH PARTY near the 200m.
STEALERS WHEEL - weakened in the run home.
BEACH PARTY - lay in marginally near the 200m and locked sulky stays briefly with BARBAROSSA.
NORVIC CHARLIE - broke in the score up and was back from position at the start.
MESSENGER BUOY - paced roughly late in the score up and was back from position at the start before breaking shortly after losing all chance.

BETTOR GRUNTER - raced wide without cover from the 900m.

SANTANNA MACH - when questioned regarding the performance Driver W House advised that his runner had only battled over the final stages in what was its first race for a month and expected the gelding to derive benefit from the run as a result.

The start was delayed when THE RIVER BOY became fractious prior to the start.
RUN FOREST RUN - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Broke negotiating the crossing near the 1600m and lost all chance. Placed on the Unruly for future stands at the connections request.
THE RIVER BOY - began awkwardly. Broke negotiating the crossing near the 1600m and lost all chance. Placed on the Unruly for future stands at the Trainer's request.
SWEET OLIVIA - hampered shortly after the start and broke losing all chance.
LUBY LILL - broke negotiating the crossing near the 1600m and lost considerable ground.
ULTIMATE MOMENT - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1600m. Weakened from near the 700m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with the connections prior to the 2nd day.
DEL SHANNON - Driver N Chilcott reported she did not activate the deafeners due to having the field covered.

Race 10   TARANAKI STEELFORMERS STRATFORD CUP (HCP PACE)
LINCOLN RIVER - broke at the start losing ground.
PROVISEUR - began awkwardly. Weakened in the run home.
IDOLOU - broke after 200m when leading, hampering a trailing runner and lost all chance. Trainer N Chilcott advised she would be adding an overcheck to the mare for the second day.
JOHNNY MAC - held up early stages of the run home.
SMOKE ON THE WATER - Driver M White admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when striking and puncturing the sulky tyre of HOORAY HENRY near the 300m. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.
HOORAY HENRY - sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 300m. Weakened in the run home.
SIMPLY SAM - began awkwardly. Hampered by a breaking runner approaching the first turn losing ground. Weakened from the 600m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
BAD MEDICINE - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
NEW YORK MINUTE - broke after 200m when Driver C Hackett activated the hopple shorteners and lost all chance.
VILLAGE REBEL - an information was filed charging Junior Driver L Hibell under Rule 869(2) on the grounds that she used her whip in a continuous manner in the run home. The matter was adjourned to be heard on the second day due to Miss Hibell having left the course.

COTE D'AZUR - over-raced early and middle stages. Paced roughly near the 400m when appearing to lose its footing. Weakened in the run home. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up with the connections prior to the 2nd day.
MALEFICENCE - placed in restricted room shortly after the start.
SUPER DUPER DUDE - Driver D Ferguson was warned for the manner he shifted ground shortly after the start which placed an inside runner in restricted room.
ARTFUL LIVING - raced wide early and middle stages before crossing to the parked position near the 1400m.
JACCKA COOPER - over-raced early stages.
