COTTON SOCKS - checked by a breaking runner near the 450m.
LUKAKU - slow early. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 450m.
DALNESS FIRST - paced roughly and broke near the 500m checking trailing runners losing ground. Weakened in the run home. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed general lameness. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
PETER FORSBERG - when questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer J Abernethy advised that the gelding was racing back in class and had been able to set its own terms in front over a shorter distance.
BEACH PARTY - late scratching on veterinary advice at 5.52pm after blood was detected at the gelding's mouth. A further examination post-race revealed a minor laceration to the tongue.
RIVERBOY BEN - checked by a breaking runner near the 450m and paced roughly losing its chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed general lameness.
NO ADDED SUGAR - raced wide early.
DESERT DAWN - hampered by a breaking runner near the 450m.
LUKA DONCIC - checked by a breaking runner near the 450m losing ground.
Race 2   DUNSTAN SPEEDFEED SUMMER SERIES MOBILE TROT
LOVEMEAGAIN - broke as the start was affected losing ground. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier manners.
OWN THE MOMENT - slow early. Weakened from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stood down pending one satisfactory trial.
DOLLY P - over-raced through the middle stages.
PLAY FOOTSIE - back from the unruly position latter stages of the score up. Weakened from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the mare's racing performance.
Race 3   DUNSTAN SPEEDFEED SUMMER SERIES MOBILE PACE
SEMBA - lay in and paced roughly approaching the first turn when being steadied to take a trail. Placed in restricted room late in the run home and raced over the final track marker.
TENACIOUS D - lay in and paced roughly rounding the final turn. Held up middle stages of the run home. Driver L Hollis was warned for the manner in which he shifted ground late in the run home which placed an inside runner in restricted room. Mr Hollis advised that he had not turned his whip due to being held up.
DOM TORETTO - paced roughly entering the first turn.
FRANCO SANTANA - held up leaving the final turn and was then disappointed for a run in the passing lane contacting several track markers when being steadied.
Race 4   LONE STAR ALEXANDRA PARK MOBILE TROT
HALBERG - trotted roughly at various stages and in particular rounding the final turn and was not persevered with. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver C Hackett confirmed that the gelding had been rough in its gait. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
SHESGOLD - broke passing the 60m and continued in a gallop to the finishing line before locking sulky wheels with ALDEBARAN PIPPI. Stewards lodged a protest against 2nd placing being awarded to this runner under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the mare had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. After viewing the replays Driver T Mitchell did not contest the protest and SHESGOLD was disqualified by Stewards.
SANINARMBRO - raced wide early.
TEQUILA SUNRISE - slow in the early stages and then trotted roughly rounding the first turn losing contact with the field. When questioned Driver M White could offer no explanation for the disappointing run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. A warning was placed on the mare's racing performance.
Race 5   TAB BONUS BACK PROMOTION MOBILE PACE
IRON BRIGADE - raced keenly middle stages when leading.
LEO LINCOLN - paced roughly final turn.
BARBAROSSA - lay in first turn contacting a track marker.
INVISIBLE - paced roughly for several strides entering the first turn.
Race 6   CRYSTAL HACKETT - ATC'S 2023 LEADING JUNIOR MOB PACE
MY COPY - held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
NELSON'S BOY - Stewards investigated an incident entering the first turn when NELSON'S BOY broke losing considerable ground when racing to the outside of THROWYAARMSAROUNDME. It was established that both runners shifted ground in this incident and no further action was deemed necessary. Broke rounding the final turn losing its chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed some minor lacerations.
HAIL LUCIUS - Trainer A Poutama was warned for the late notification of sliding blinds.
LINCOLN RIVER - raced wide early.
BETTER KNUCKLE UP - out of position at the start. Driver C Hackett was issued with a warning.
ESCAPE ARTIST - out of position at the start. Driver Z Butcher was issued with a warning.
Race 7   ZACHARY BUTCHER - ATC'S 2023 LEADING DRIVER MOB PACE
COS I CAN - contacted several track markers approaching the 1200m. Driver B Butcher was issued with a warning.
MERLIN - raced wide early.
MACH SHARD - out of position at the start. Driver S Phelan was issued with a warning.
Race 8   PASCOES THE JEWELLERS F & M MOBILE PACE
CLOUDING OVER - held up final turn and early stages of the run home. Driver J Cole was issued with a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion late in the run home. When spoken to regarding the improved performance Mr Cole advised he had changed the training regime for his runner by increasing its work load and that the mare had been able to capitalise on its inside barrier draw to secure a good run three back on the marker line.
AKATEA - when questioned regarding the performance Driver J Dickie could only attribute the disappointing performance to racing without cover from the 1100m in what was the filly's first race back from a spell.
Race 9   MICHELLE & BERNIE - ATC'S 2023 LEADING TRAINERS MOB TROT
CASTANA - broke passing the 350m losing its chance.
AMERICAN MUSCLE - raced wide early.
SACRED MOUNTAIN - Driver N Chilcott reported that she had not activated the deafeners due to having the field covered.
Race 10   HARNESS MILLIONS RACE NIGHT 16 FEB @ ALEX PARK MOBILE PACE
PAPENHUYZEN - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after a minor incident in the stabling area and was cleared to start.
MOLLY BELWIN - over-raced middle stages. Lay in near the 750m contacting track markers. Held up early final turn.
XCITE ME - over-raced early and middle stages. Driver S Wigg was warned for using her whip free of the rein on two occasions in the run home.
