Race Comments

Race 1   WOODLANDS STUD FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
JUSTA LILY - weakened from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer E Murphy advised he would have a further veterinary examination conducted on the mare in the coming days and undertook to notify Stewards should anything come to light which would explain the performance.
MAJOR DISRUPTION - over-raced shortly after the start.
TERRA SANCTA - raced wide early. Paced roughly over the concluding stages.
SURE TO RISE - shifted ground outwards near the 700m and struck the sulky wheel of JUSTA LILY, breaking briefly in consequence and losing ground. Lay in rounding the bends. Stewards questioned junior driver C Dalgety, who declined the assistance of a senior, regarding the incident near the 700m when striking the sulky wheel of JUSTA LILY. Mr Dalgety explained that the filly was green and over-racing at the time causing him some steering difficulties and did not respond well when being shifted out off the back of the runner in front. Stewards noted Mr Dalgety's comments. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
Race 2   WHITESTONE LIVESTOCK LTD PACE
LORD FANTASY - broke at the start.
JUSTIN FUN - paced roughly at stages throughout.
STAR MAGIC - slow away.
TARTAN RAIDER - broke briefly shortly after the start.
TAXMAN - a post-race veterinary examination at the request of trainer E Murphy who expressed disappointment with the performance of the gelding, revealed no abnormalities. Mr Murphy advised he would have a further veterinary examination conducted on the gelding in the coming days and undertook to notify Stewards should anything come to light which would explain the performance.
Race 3   GALLAGHER INSURANCE NZ JUNIOR DRIVERS HANDICAP TROT
DEM BONES DEM BONES - attempted to charge the barrier strand having to be restrained by driver B Fodie. Broke briefly at the start losing ground.
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - began awkwardly.
KENNY'S CHARM - lay in rounding the bends throughout and in particular when leaving the final bend, racing inside several track markers.
PAIGE - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
Race 4   J W NEILL HOLDINGS MOBILE PACE
FORTY WIVES - weakened final bend.
FOLLOW ME FANTASY - raced greenly shortly after the start when being shifted outwards and away from GOTTA ELECT BILL which was shifting ground. Weakened from the 600m.
BINGO BANGO - weakened final bend.
PERFECT POTION - driver B Orange reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
Race 5   COMMODORE HOTEL TROT
SPECIAL EFFECTS - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Again broke rounding the final bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
MAJESDIX - broke at the start losing all chance.
BULLIT TRAIN - slow away. Cleared from the Unruly for future standing starts.
TO HILL AND BACK - broke at the start losing all chance.
Race 6   DEAN COLEMAN LAW JUNIOR DRIVERS HANDICAP TROT
GRAND EAGLE - trotted roughly in the run home.
AROHA KENNY - became fractious prior to the start requiring the assistance of a starting attendant. Broke briefly at the start.
DWINDLE STAR - weakened final bend.
PYRAMID MYSTIC - driver O Thornley was warned for being late to assemble at the start area.
OUR PINOCCHIO - driver W House was warned for being late to assemble at the start area.
MISSILE - driver K Bublitz was warned for being late to assemble at the start area. Weakened final bend.
MAJESTIC LOVE - driver O Kite was warned for being late to assemble at the start area.
MAUI - raced wide early.
Race 7   NZ STANDARDBRED LTD COLTS & GELDINGS MOBILE PACE
NORMIE STEAD - weakened final bend.
FRANKIE - broke shortly after that start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
COSMIC STAR - raced wide early. Struck several track markers rounding the final bend. Driver K Newman was issued with a warning for contacting track markers.
MIGHTY MIKI - trainer M Williamson was warned for presenting the gelding without any numbers. Out of position at the candy pole despite the efforts of driver M Williamson. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Lay in and raced greenly when improving three wide through the middle stages.
Top
